Hey Terry!

How are you doing this fine day? First I want to say thank you for taking the time out of your guy's busy schedules in order to come and answer our questions on these boards, it's really cool that you that you are willing to do this, and it's greatly appreciated. Hopefully the others you've spoken with will come and give us a shot also. :)

I've been a big fan from when I first saw you in Tombstone, and JAG, X-Files, Alias... and now, I'm very excited that you're playing Locke on Lost.

Just a couple of questions: Where do you go as an actor to pull the inspiration for the characters you play? I've noticed, the way that you've played Locke has made him very difficult to figure out his intentions, hence all of the bantering over whether Locke is in fact evil... Is that intentional, or is that just your particular acting method?

What sorts of things have you done in your downtime while on location? Do you have an opportunity to hang out with the other actors often? I kind of see you as a quiet man, contemplative (since these are some of the characters we've seen...) do you have a wild side that is enjoying itself on the islands of Hawaii?

Keep up the good work Terry and thanks for taking the time to be here and answer the questions. I look forward to unravelling the enigma that Locke has become as the seasons progress.

When I prepare a role or a scene, the first thing I try to figure out is the writer's intention. What does he or she want the audience to take away from the scene. I try to fulfill that intention and at the same time make the character interesting in the way he presents the writer's ideas. I think the writers want Locke to be mysterious. I do believe, however, that sometimes the writers respond to what they percieve to be the actor's strengths. In that way, expecially on T.V., they jointly evolve the character ( in a perfect situation) and this situation's pretty good. Nothin' too wild for me. I do spend a lot of time on my own when no family member's with me, but I'm good at it......and Hawaii's a great place just to roam around and enjoy the nature and the people.
