View Full Version : Noticable Division in the New Commercials

I have been seeing some new previews for season 2 on TV. The one's I have really liked are the commercials where one of the main charictors talks to themself and the island while we see the charictor sitting and staring off.

One main thing I have noticed with the charictor commercials is that some of the people are saying everything happens for a reason,

like Locke and someone else said everything happens for a reason...Hurley oh yea. And then the other half of the people like Sawyer and Jack seem to be thinking the oppisite way. Like Sawyers commercial, "Yea everything happens for a reason, yeah right."

Could this be foreshadowing for a mass division in the LOST-a-WAYS? Could season 2 come with a huge break up and split in the group? Interesting commercials.

Hey JazzyJ,

I'm bumming because I haven't seen the Sawyer or Sayid ones. I like your idea about the division. Do you have the Sawyer one recorded? Care to divulge all that he says?

I'm also intrigued with how these ads may tie into the "Not the survivors they thought they were" ad from the oceanic site.

Interesting commercials. That theory was presented long before the promos for Season 2 ... it really got a big surge after the end of Season 1 when Jack told Kate that he thought if they survived opening the hatch, they might have a "Locke problem."

Personally, I think it's inevitable that they form into 2 or more groups. We saw the foreshadowing of that when some stayed on the beach and some went to the caves. It's human nature to divide and set up communities And I think it's obvious that there will be two initial camps ... Locke Camp and Jack Camp. I've already made my reservations and sent in my deposit to join Locke Camp ... "Where the fun never ends and every day is a day closer to realizing your destiny!"

Yea I heard about a division long ago, and was kind of expecting one in the finale. But what I mean is some kind of big incident which creates a REAL division. Right now of course there is the small division of realists and faith based people, but they all act sorta nice to each other and are still able to co-exist with each other.

From the look of Sawyers commercial, he's starting to get a little tired of, "Everything happens for a reason." Whose to say they won't split up and start fighting each other?

Personally thats not what I want to see but........come on it's LOST anything is possible.

In Exodus, Jack and Kate seemed to be forming an alliance against Locke, but

in a season 2 preview I saw Kate and Locke were working together to go down the hatch with no Jack or Hurley in sight.

Personally thats not what I want to see but........come on it's LOST anything is possible.I honestly don't see it like that ... at least not under Locke or Jack. Neither is the kind to want to physically go against another person (they will, but it's not their nature). I can see Sawyer ... obviously ... being that way but he's off the island (for now at least).

No, if it happens I doubt the writers will have them fighting amongst themselves. They have enough outside things to fight against ... like The Others, the Monster, the polarbears & boars ... I think the writers know that it would destroy the show if they did that because it would also divide the fans and some fans like more than one character a lot and to possibly pit one against the other ... that just spells disaster.

I see a possible division, but not with fighting or combat involved.

I don't know if it they will break into 2 totally seperate factions anytime soon. They are still pretty new to the area, and there is an outside threat. That may be enough to keep them somewhat together for now. Of course on second thought it only took Danielle's team just over 2 months to fall apart.

However, I woulnd't be surprised to see some infighting between the survivors. There is alreay tension, as has been mentioned, and I am sure that loyalties will be more to one person or another. Danielle has already planted into Sayid's head to watch out for the other survivors. To watch for the sickness.

Af for Kate and Jack, I have felt like they were drifting apart recently. I think that some of his actions has bugged her, like when he took the explosives eventhough she drew the straw. Another is the conversation about moving to the cave's vs. the beach. They seemed like they are on different wavelengths.

actually Jack asking Kate to have his back was a very subtle but marked declaration of trust in Kate...It doesn't,however, mean that Kate has to agree w/everything Jack says & does or vice vs. She knew he did the switch to protect her because she said "Sorry". Sure she was mad he changed the packs but she would have died & at least it was for her safety vs trying to say bait & switch a key.....The triangle wouldn't work rt now if they didn't seem on different wavelengths, but it won't last forever imo.

I've seen all of these commercials but just right now, I saw one with Charlie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went crazy. Claire was in the background and he was talking about getting a second chance. They also just showed a commercial for S2 in general....they showed some of the Kate/hatch scene.

jbdean

Oh I'm sure there will be infighting. Considering their circumstances, it's a givven. And I agree ... if they do a true split, it won't be too soon. Since we don't know what the "sickness" is that Danielle speaks of, we have no way of knowing if the Lostaways will "catch" it or not. I tend to think that the sickeness actually lies with Danielle and was not with the rest of her team. I think the sickness caused her to think they were sick and so she killed them. It will be facinating to find out more about that storyline!

elfdream

Charlie's Thoughts:
(Sitting on the beach playing his guitar, daytime. Claire is sitting on the sand in the background holding Aaron)
How long will it take for redemption?
the chance to put the past behind me, to start over
Maybe that's what this is (Looks back at Claire and Aaron)
A second chance, an opportunity to earn forgiveness
They say everything happens for a reason, I wish I could believe that.

Here are the transcripts for the other 4 ads that are available at Lostlinks. We've been discussing them in this thread. http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=17876&page=4

Jack’s Thoughts:
(Walking along a beach, daytime)
Not a day goes by that I don’t think about it
The crash, this place, the life that was left behind
Some of the survivors think it was a freak accident
Others think it was fate
They wanna believe everything happens for a reason
I don’t know what to believe anymore

Locke’s Thoughts:
(Sharpening a knife by a fire, nightime)
The other survivors can’t see it, but this island is different, its special
I did not chose, I was chosen
This is my destiny
I belong here
It may be hard for the others to accept, but everything happens for a reason

Kate’s Thoughts:
(Sitting on a rock at the beach, holding something in her hands, maybe Tom’s plane? daytime)
I’ve spent my entire life running
Trying to get away, from the law, from my past
On this island I get a second chance, a new life
No one knows who I really am.. and they never will
Some people say that everything happens for a reason, that would be nice wouldn’t it?

Hurley’s Thoughts:
(Sitting by a fire, poking it with a stick, nightime)
This is all my fault
We crashed on this island ‘cause of me
‘Cause bad stuff happens to people when I’m around
I don’t know why
I try to tell everyone that everything happens for a reason
But, they don’t take me seriously…they should

This really makes me think that Jack is moving to the fence on this issue. He has been very much the opposite of Locke. He has been a man of science, I wonder if he will start to ponder the possibility of fate.

The previews for season 2 really seem to be placing emphasis on the fate angle. Even the new commercial that I saw last night really talked about it. It was a variation on the "they are NOT the survivors they thought they were." commercial. Instead of the "they are NOT..." stuff it had, "what if every thing happens for a reason?"

JAZZYJ
09-01-2005, 12:17 PM
With everyone on those commercials talking about "everything happens for a reason" whether it be one way or the other maybe we will see a big argument at the beginning of season 2 between those who believe that and those who don't.

Some discussion between two charictors could spark a huge debate on the reason for being on the island. Another heated discussion between Jack and Locke would be interesting, I liked where the first one was going and wanted it to continue.

Do you think they'll give one to Walt (since he was snatched by The Others)? Poor Malcom never gets enough press or promotion. He may be a kid, but he's a MAJOR part of the island's storyline and I think they should play him up more. Plus he's a darn good actor!

duckyislost

I certainly hope we get to see Walt's. His position on the island has been interesting in that for a long time he wanted to be there, right up until the bad vibes he got about Locke opening the hatch. Then he wanted to go.

I want to know how old Alex was when she was abducted. Some think a new born but I don't know. It seems unreal that Danielle would come to this remote island or even go out on the seas to explore when she's so near her due date. I think it would be very interesting to find out that she had Alex after she and her team were stranded on the island. Perhaps getting pregnant while there then, a few month's later, she kills them off and then a few more months later gives birth to Alex ... and then Alex, her only connection to a sain world, is taken from her. :frown:

Yea and then we could see who took Alex, and if they say in a bad pirate hillbilly accent, "We're gonna have ta take the boya."Oh, I don't know if I'm ready to see who took her just yet. Maybe hands or their backs or a shadow in the jungle but not out-&-out see them. But I am curious, more, about how old Alex was when she was taken. If Danielle was there for 16 years and had Alex early on after they got to the island, then she'd be a teenager now and too old for Walt. BUT if Danielle had her much later than we currently take for granted then she might be the right age for Walt because I feel that Walt's being kidnapped has something to do with Alex. Of course some feel that Alex must have been a baby when she was abducted because of Danielle's trying to trade Adam for Alex but even if that's true and Alex was an infant when she was taken, it doesn't tell us when Danielle had her. She's never said that Alex "was my husband's child." [insert eerie music HERE]

Danielle's account describes the baby as being 1 week old at the time of the abduction. Dunno how much of what she says is true, though.

From Exodus I:
Danielle: Our ship went aground on this island 16 years ago. There were 6 of us - my team, 6. At that time I was already 7 months pregnant. I delivered the infant myself. The baby and I were together for only 1 week when I saw black smoke - a pillar of black smoke 5 kilometers inland. That night they came - they came and took her - Alex. They took my baby. And now, they're coming again. They're coming for all of you.

I would be very interested in finding out more about Danielle, but I think that it will take a while for her whole story to come out. Right now it seems like there are holes in her story, at least that is how it appears. Of course her credibility did go up in Exodus (at least to the viewers), what she said she heard is what happened. They did come for the boy.

Now what is interesting is that unless the Others go to the island and attack the people there, Danielle may lose credibility with most of the survivors. She said they were comming, and nobody came she just tried to kidnap the baby.

And as for how Alex was talken, I am still confused. She said that the others took her baby, but she also says that she has never seen the Others, only heard them whisper.

For all we know, she was like that 16 years before Sayid stumbled on her. Could they think that Walt was in danger? Could they be nuttier than Danielle (not violent, we know that already) and see life through their own reality? Could they also think that anyone who comes to the island is a violator and therefore needs doing away with? Could Walt be a sacrifice to the gods of the Island? And is the "god" of the Island really a man ... maybe running the show from underground with at least one of his doorways being the hatch?

There are so many possibilities that it just boggles the mind! But I love LOST mind boggling!!
