We love that you and Daniel Dae Kim have such major roles in Lost! My husband is Korean (raised in the countryside til he came to the US at nearly 10 years old) and he will do translations for me when your characters talk :) And while his life in Korea was very different from these characters, it is still thrilling to see familiar social conflicts and issues on the screen! When I watch i tend to think of your character as the younger generation of Korean-Americans and his as the older generation
I tried joining another online Lost forum a while back but was so appalled by the lack of understanding for your characters and how ready people seemed to be to lash our against them... I am sure on some level, this is what the writers were hoping for, in order to put viewers in a similar mindset to the characters on the show... but hoping that as the characters gain more acceptance from their fellow crashmates and television viewers that it can be a wonderful platform for teaching people a little bit about the Korean culture and multiculturalism in general.
I'd love to see a presence of both of you on the boards here to help explain social issues to the audience..
And maybe help get Americans to see Korea separately from all the rest of Asia... some days my kids come home from school insisting that they are Chinese because classmates or adults keep presuming they are or insisting that they are! And I would so love to see Claire's baby having a 100 Day celebration :) with whatever the island can offer for it! But that wouldn't be this season, now would it? hehe I will definitely be watching to see if there are any chili peppers growing in that garden or not!
