Any thoughts on this episode? What will the find in the hatch?

Predictions on the back story. What will we learn from this?

Anna Lucia and the other survivors use it as their shelter.

All of the major revelations thus far seem to have involved corpses. I suspect we'll see a few inside the hatch.

My guesses:
I agree with kingpause we will find some dead folk under the hatch.
I also believe the rafter's will make it to shore on a different part of the island and hook up with the tail section survivors.
We will see Danielle's daughter.
There will be at least one scene of an attractive lady in a small swimsuit or underwear.

Oops almost ignored the title. Conflict between Jack & Locke will be a part of exploring the tunnel system.

We will see Danielle's daughter.

How do you know Alex is a girl ?

in the finale, Danielle says "they took her"

I always thought there'd be a bunch of tunnels down there, civilization (at least for those on the island). In my mind there would be a Starbucks haha...but not seriously. Yeah, I think there'll be some bones and corpses, but I think there'll also be at least one living. Maybe a scared but friendly islander.
And I think the rafters will swim to a different shore and meet the people from the tail of the flight.
I want to say someone dies...but probably not in this episode. And maybe someone small again, like poor ol' Arzt.

How do you know Alex is a girl ?Agreed Alex is non-gender specific but as Liz_Lost_Fan mentioned there was a gender reference on the show. Plus I mentally associate the name Alex with an attractive lady of that name who lives in this area, so I was already in the mind set of assuming a 'daughter', even before Danielle said they took "her".

I think that Jack will find out exactly what he was talking about with the "Locke problem" and that theyll argue about how to go inside the hatch.
Someone will find Charlies new statue of drugs and call him out on it.
I dont know why, but I have a feeling that not everyone on the raft will live. Maybe Walt, or maybe Michael, but I dont think theyd kill Sawyer. Theyd lose too many of the women fans.
As for whats inside the hatch, I'd say it would relate to whatever was sucking Locke through the jungle on the finale.
As for Alex, I think he/she(but probably she) will be on the other side of the island pretending to be part of the tail section, like Ethan did.

I think we'll finally get to see where that cable goes to.

Well watching the preview, it sure seems like Locke may not be correct in guessing that they will find "Hope", of course Hurley's prediction alaso seems to not match either.

I also think that everybody on the raft will survive. But I think that it will be a while before we find out what happened with Walt.

Very very small spoiler for anybody who has been able to avoid this since April...
I wonder when we will meet Anna-Lucia. Will it be in the first episode, or a couple of episodes into the season?

And I think that this is a Jack-centric episode isn't it? Do you think we will find out what happened with his marriage? I would almost bet that they introduce us to another aspect of his character. With Sawyer telling Jack about his dad, I think that ties up part his dad story thread. (I know that we still don't know about the empty coffin, and what happened with his dad's body) It just seems like emotionally Jack should be able to come to grips with much of his father issues. They will probably open something new with his marriage.

I think that Hurley will be forced, at some point anyway (hopefully soon), to explain his fixation on the Numbers and why he freaked out so bad when they were going to blow the hatch open. I think it's only reasonable to expect the survivors to ask him why that was, what they meant to him and to eventually start discussing the transmission that Danielle originally heard and the fact that they appeared on the hatch.

I think you are right on this one. I would guess that the Numbers will come to the front a bit more. Just like you say, Hurley is going to talk about this at some point, and the way that the season ended is a great tie into this.

Then again, I just noticed the name of the 4th episode is Everyone Hates Hugo so I suppose that would make sense that he finally started talking about them...

The title would seem to be that its a Jack vs. Locke episode in some way since Jack is rooted firmly in science and Locke has faith in the island. But I think it would be cool if Jack would get a good dose of faith here instead and perhaps start to let go of his tunnel vision to all the things going on around him. I'm probably way off base here tho.

Have you seen the Jack commercial for season 2? These are the commercials where you hear the thoughts of the different survivors, and they all deal with the statement "everything happens for a reason." What I found interesting in the Jack commercial is how he ponders how some people say "everything happens for a reason", then he says, "I don't know what to think" I wonder if he will start to question the "science only" way of thinking.

For example, if they never did crash he probably never would have met Sawyer. If he never met Sawyer, he never would have had that conversation with Sawyer that I think will help Jack to tie up a lot of Jack's issues with his father. When he starts putting all the pieces that had to fall in line for that to occur, it starts to make you think that perhaps it did all happen for a reason.

The previews for Season 2 really seem to indicate they will be exploring the concept "What if everything happened for a reason?" I really think that will be interesting.

Well just a couple of days more...

Is it here yet?

Ok how about now?

Yeah, in the finale they did seem to stress Locke asking the question,"What if everything here happened for a reason?" I'm hoping for some kind of Jack/Locke showdown. I love those two characters and it would be really intense to have them at odds, you know? Especially in such a strange situation as being around this hatch.
PS:dzdconfused, why do you call Stockton the pit of hell? I'm further down south, and I've been there. I dont think its the 'pit of hell'.:cnfused1:

I have only seen Sawyer's and the Hatch commercials over here, but I'm really happy to hear about Jack's. And you are totally right about the Sawyer connection and I think even Boone's death too....he was confronted with having to let go, lose someone and admit to himself that he can't fix everything, which I think didn't happen too much before the crash, and that someone giving him permission to do so without guilt. Course, if he were to really think about it, besides his obvious unresolved personal issues, he is THE only doctor on the island (that we know of) to survive....could it be ummmm...let me think...for a reason? :msn-wink:

Two days, four hours and eight minutes here....not that I am counting or anxious or breathless with anticipation or anything like that here :Jumpy:

I'm still curious as to just what Jack means by a "Locke problem"? Is he worried that people will follow Locke over him now that the hatch is blown open and he will lose control, which is something he is not good at (dynamite in the back packs for example). Or is he afraid that Locke might be right and it will make him look too deeply inside himself and question everything he was taught to believe in? If there is a showdown tho....Locke's got my vote hands down....he would kick Jack's butt mentally or physically and not even break a sweat!

I think I call Stockton the pit of hell cause we only have two movie theaters now, no clubs, no live music to speak of and every decent restaurant (even the chains) is a hour wait to get into, or you drive at least an hour to go to Sac or two hours to San Fran. Oh and did I mention the 23 out of 30 days of 100 degree plus heat this last summer? Tho I b1tch, I've been here for over 20 years, so I guess I do like hell  Where south are you?

Off-topic, it just occurred to me that I don't think I've watched any programs on abc AT ALL this summer, or at least in the last several weeks, because I haven't seen a single one of these promos that everyone keeps talking about.

Also, maybe it's been discussed already, but according to my TV Guide channel on my cable, the episode will also feature : Shannon encountering a "familiar figure" in the jungle. Hmm, i WONDER who it could be.... <sarcasm>

I am so excited! AFter fourish months of waiting, the finale is only one day away.

I've never seen any of these promos either. I never watch ABC, except for the occasional Extreme Makeover home edition. So I have no idea what these promos even say.

dzdconfused, I know what you mean. I live in a suburb outside Sacto, but the heat this summer was miserable. It didnt help that our Air conditioning was broken for the most of July. Huge deal with the company where they wouldnt come and fix it because it was a weekend and no one felt like sending a request for the part needed. My dad was pretty frustrated. But we found our reliable AC guy who installed our system last year, and he fixed it. Nice guy, too.
The End~~didnt mean to ramble.

I just realized tonight how little I do watch ABC too....I guess kinda sad for the network cause I've seen quite a few other posts that say the same thing  I did see a bunch of group commercials tonight tho cause we had the Dancing with the Stars showdown on here (thanks mom...LOL) and one showed Locke with a gun up to his head and I think inside the hatch. I just can't wait till tomorrow!!! I'd start biting my nails in anticipation, but acrylic is a bit hard to bite thru.

BigBlueEyes....OMG! I can totally relate....my AC conked out just before the heat kicked in this year and I found out I need a whole new unit  Not quite in the budget, needless to say...so I got window fans, which combined with a bag of frozen veggies on the back of the neck is the Redneck answer to AC  BTW...my boyfriend lives in Roseville...small world! Ok....I'm gonna stop rambling too now.

As Im psting this a lost comercial is on the radio..lol Did anyone catch on one of the Lost Season 2 promos the quarentine sign, that i assume was on the underside of the hatch they blew off, does that mean the island is a quarentine, and the light, could it be a beacon, cause its very visible, and if you visit the official lost website its featured on their open page, looking like a beacon, maybe to notify someone else nearbye??? i dont know just some ideas. I dont think episode 1 will really answer any questions, i think it will just raise many more questions...which is appropriate, cause it keeps us watching.

I believe that Alex is the girl on the boat who threw the Molotov cocktail at the raft.

Don't know why, just have a feeling that that's who that girl will turn out to be.
