Hey gang, Sorry I've been absent most of the summer. Life has been crazy. We've been working hard on the Long Lost List and believe it or not it really will be opening up very soon!

LongLostList is a comprehensive cross referenced encyclopedia of Lost show trivia -- coming soon to a website near you!

In the meantime we still need your help collecting data. Old timers, you know the routine. I'll scan the episode forum in a few days and add all the relevant detail into the basic outline for transfer to the LLL. I'm actually going to be out of town this weekend, but the LLL team (car88win, cinamin, waltisfuture and Tross) will work to keep things moving.

I can't believe Lost finally starts again in 2.5 hours. I am so psyched. You all will be so psyched when we finally open the doors and you see this incredible collection of trivia, thanks in large part to your help!

See the next post for the Official Long Lost List Outline of Observations/Topics

Thanks!

Numbers References
4: number Kate stops at when counting to calm down in the hatch
4: number of times Jack tests Sarah's nerves after surgery
4: number of guns Jack notes are left on the island
8 months - number of months until Sarah & Kevin's wedding when car accident occured
8:15 - time of death (Rutherfords?)

80/60 - Sarah's BP before stabilization
114 million - amount of Hurley's Lotto win
10 to 12 - hours for Sarah's surgery, Jack tells Kevin
8:51 unless our clocks were wrong, the scene where the gun is pointed at Locke's head was cut to commercial at 8:51. Coincidence?

Accidents: SUV accident, Sarah and (Rutherford?) Puts her in wheelchair, other driver dies at 8:15.

Food: Desmond drinks a fruit smoothie, ingredients?

Weapons: Many guns to identify. Jack notes there are 4 guns left on the island, he takes on to the hatch.

Fights: Verbal - Jack and Locke argue over going down the hatch. Draw. Locke agrees to leave with Jack, but later returns to the hatch and is eventually joined by Kate and then Jack.

Sickness/Injury
* QUARANTINE: printed in red on inside of hatch door. Interesting because location implies that the outside was quarantined rather than the inside.

* Shot of Jack pulling steering column out of Sarah's chest is parallel to the Marshal's shrapnel scene. Sarah's broken back diagnosis (need official name). Part of steering column was embedded in her chest. Jack believed he did not repair the damage after the surgery, but she was able to move. It was a "miracle."

Desmond was waking up, eating and exercising, but wasn't it nightime? Is he on a weird schedule to avoid the lostaways? He is going 15-16 mph on his exercise bike.

There are words on the vial that Desmond injects himself with, but I couldn't read them. Is he injecting steroids, growth hormones?

How many points did he check with his security system?

Hatch items - Mirror, runners, flashlight, Fleecy and Tide products on shelf, washer? and dryer, bunkbed, roll chair, keyboard, execute button, old computers, ugly picture on the wall, albums, turntable, big O shaped window, bench seat-restaurant style, stainless steel sink, blender, dried powder supplement, shower and blender.

Black and White checkered emblem on exercise bike

Hurley is repeating the numbers, and the first time I watched I thought I heard 10 and 18, but the second time I heard "re den" or "again" ?

Desmond keeps his guns in a seperate room. It looks like he's wearing gold fingernail polish.

Kate and Locke are estimating how deep the Hatch is. Kate says 40 feet and Locke says 50 feet tops.

When Sarah is brought into the hospital, they estimate her age as late 20's, and the male from the other vehicle as a 57(?) year old male. I heard the name Adam in reference to the dead man, and I also heard the name Rutherford, but I think this is in reference to a medical person.

Sarah has a piece of the steering column sticking in her chest. Her blood pressure is 88 over 52 with no radial pulse. The man time of death is 8:15 am.

There is a name and other info on the neck-brace Sarah is wearing, but I can't read it.

Shannon hears the whispers and then sees Walt in the jungle, he has on no life jacket. Is he speaking backwards?

I keep noticing everyone gives 3 reasons for things. Danielle - run, hide or die.
Hurley - I'm running toward you, waving my arms and telling you not to. There is the time he says that's 3 reasons not to go into the Dark Territory.

Shannon has blossomed. She never asked for help with Vincent. ".....the one thing someone has asked me to do." She says, "I Lost the damn dog"

Hurley tells Jack about the cursed numbers and being in the psych ward. When he is finished, all Jack cares about is that Hurley was in the hospital. Hurley says he won 114 million and bad luck began to happen. Grandpa died, house burnt and a meteroite hit the chicken place he worked at. Hurley tells Jack that his bedside manners suck.

Christian tells Jack he should be handing out some Hope, when he gives patients bad news, even if it's only 1%. Jack says that's false hope. Christian agrees, but says it's still hope.

The crowd scene outside the cave was reminiscent of Lord of the Flies, or a mob.

Locke says he could wait for morning, or to see if the others show up or to see if the brave folks on the raft bring them help, but ME, I'm tired of waiting.

Kate counts to 4 while descending into the Hatch.

Kate screams, the blinding light comes on, Locke calls to see if she's okay, the cable gets torn from Locke's hands and all that time we don't hear Kate scream again.

Kate tells Jack he's a glass 1/2 full kind of guy. She tells him what he did (hope speech) was a good thing......they can count on you.....if you weren't here Jack (trails off) Kate tells him she is going to the Hatch in case Locke falls and breaks his neck. Kate says, "Live together, die alone, right"

The stadium shows 3 sections, but I can't read the numbers. Desmond refers to Jacks' self flagellation over the girl patient. He tells Jack he is training for a race around the world. Jack tells him of the promise to Sarah he couldn't keep. He failed. Desmond asks what if he had fixed her? The bicker until Desmond says that Jack doesn't believe in Miracles. (he can tell Desmond about the miracle now!) Desmond gives Jack the advice "lift it up" about the ankle Jack hurt running the stairs. Desmond says to Jack as he is leaving, "See you in another life, eh" (Nadia to Sayid) Thanks to wildjinx - it also reminded me of Papa Locke's words "see you on the other side" to John Locke in the hospital .... hmmmm

The mural in the Hatch has the numbers 108 and 16, the word sick on the bottom right corner. The 16 could be 166 (?). The screenshot keep bouncing from one thing to the next. Lantern on wall, Jack's 5 tattoo, key around his neck, shoes. Just seemed to stand out, but don't know what it could mean.

When Jack is waiting for Sarah to wake up from surgery, you see an 8 on the end of her bed. The time is 2:30 pm(?) Sarah tells Jack he stinks, he tells her he just ran a Tour de Stad (?), where you run all the steps in a stadium, up and down. Sarah asks him why, and he says he's intense. Jack is explaining that she is paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life, when Sarah says he's yanking her chain, right? Jack says no, and she tells him she can wiggle her toes. A miracle has happened.

Jack says they still have 4 guns to protect the entrances till the sun comes up in 3 hours. He promised them they will be safe. He changes his mind and goes to the Hatch. Hurley's comment hit home?

Desmond tells Jack that he was almost a doctor once. Jack says "small world." Is this the understatement of the year!!

The picture in Jack's office looked familiar.

Sarahs fiance Kevin tells Jack that the wedding is in 8 months.

Just before surgery, Sarah tells Jack to come closer cuz she wants to tell him a little secret. She says, "It's okay, I know I'm not gonna be able to dance again" Is she letting him off the hook? Jack says he's going to fix her.

WIF
Great work as usual.
Desmond types on the keyboard the NUMBERS, before hitting the EXECUTE.
On the vial, our famous numbers, in a strange configuration
CR 4-81516-23 42
FOR INJECTION
30ml(not sure) Multiple Dose
RX-1
All of Desmond stuff is 80's related, except for the dish soap (Fairy?), and washer drier which looks rather new.
Desmond has 6 clothes hangers, 2 empty, 4 identical suits.
I think Hurley first says 4 8 15 16 23 42, and then 4 8 "dash" 52 and then I can't figure out what else.
The key on Jack's neck moves due to a magnet in front of him (I think). I checked a couple of times and I am almost sure.
I have much more, but I want to watch again before I post.
I am going to watch the opening scene at least 23 more times!

Secrets-

Hurley shares his backstory with Jack.

Sayid says nothing when Charlie states his belief that there are 'no' others and dismisses the idea of 'whispers'.

Weapons
I'm pretty sure the rifle that Desmond has is an AK-47. There is a pretty good shot (http://www.geocities.com/mcmillerxxx/Lost/AK-47.jpg) of the barrel / forward sight at 02:49. Here is an AK-47 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ak-47_Russian.jpg) for comparison.

The song is: Make your own kind of Music. I'm pretty sure it was the Cass Elliott version, formally of the Mama & the Papas (?) 1969

One of the times Jack went to see Sarah the time was 2:30= 23

I'm pretty sure that Hurley changed some of the numbers, but I'll have to go back and lsiten to it.

I think the guy that was involved in the accident with Sarah was Shannon's dad. Interesting that Jack would be involved in 2 death's surrounding Shannon.

I'm pretty sure Hurley was saying "we're dead" and "doomed" between numbers. Creepy.

Also - the altered feng shui emblem (bagua) on the computers, lockers, and his clothes. The interior looks like a swan or a snake (the section that resembles the yin yang).

The keyboard that is being used has no Escape, "F" keys, etc. This is usually typical of a proprietary keyboard, like for military use. It simply condensed. And if all you need to enter is the numbers, there would be no use for letters. But there are letters on the keyboard.

And finally, the time that it takes Desmond to wake up, eat, work out, shower, do the computer thing, etc makes his timeline between waking up and the hatch being blown fairly long. This means that he probably woke up before it was dark outside.

Sam G - That makes 3 artists with large paintings or murals. Michael, Thomas and Desmond.

cerberus187- I just happened to notice this. While Desmond is cleaning up his kitchen area there is a backgammon board and pieces layed out on the table.

AnalogKid - Go to oceanic-air.com under Track Flight, and track flight 815. Take the airport codes SYD and LAX. Move the A to the other side, and you get "DAYS", which leaves the letters XL. XL is Roman for 40. 40 DAYS. Like the quarantine. Coincidentally(?) the scheduled and actual departure times for flight 815 are 40 minutes apart (4:15 vs. 4:55)

It's quite common Catholic vernacular to say that you're going to "lift up" your trials and tribulations to God so that He can take of things as He sees fit, i.e., giving God your total faith and trust.

See you in an other life.

LOST quote: "Jack thinks I've lost it. I can't blame him really." (Locke)

Desmond * in French "the world"? *

Charlie still thinks Danielle faked the fire and made it herself
Shannon looses Sayid in the jungle (like charlie in exodus) and hears the whispers.
Mammas and the Pappas playing on the turntable.
"angry smiley in green" I've seen this a few times???
Man of Science, Man of Faith, could mean Jack and Locke or Jack and Desmond or "Just Jack" or Just Desmond.
Could the powder be Heroin???
Is Desmond Lockes brother and the kidney actually went to him??

Different guesses I've found for Walt's backwards talk

"Press the button. No button's bad."
"Don't press the button. The buttons bad."
"I have something to tell you".
"Press the button... when no one's there"
"Where's the one? The one who's me."
"perhaps no one knows you"
"Where's the one? The one who's me."" I have to dance at my wedding…" mumbled by jack’s wife in the ER

I thought Desmond said he was training for a "world race" rather than a race around the world. That could really change the meaning...

I just watched this and he does say "I'm training for a race around the world".

Also, I saw some people in another thread arguing whether or not Desmond was Scottish, Irish, or Australian.

His accent is Scottish. If you have any doubt, please watch a Billy Connolly movie =]

Irish and Aussie's will be upset if people get their accent confused with Scottish.

Also, the actor is scottish and this is the way he speaks normally.

Possible clue to Locke's condition: Electromagnetism? ...Jack's Key being drawn to a magnetic source.

Religious Refs:(going from memory here)

JS: That would be a miracle.

Desmond: You don't believe in miracles?

Desmond: You were running like the devil was chasing you.

Recurring phrases: Lot's of "hope" references
JS: no hope
CS: still hope

The giant magnet explaines wht Locke's compass was off. He was spending so much time there it messed with the compass. When he went to Sayid and put his next to it it was off.

Now remember Locke told Boone he could feel the place, and then threw the flashlight to Boone. We know it is magnetized. Does Locke have an implant? Or was he just wearing so much metal that he was being pulled to it?

I also put all these Mural Pics of Desmond's in the Lost Library.

Desmond enters numbers and hits Execute, and we hear "Locke's printer sound" associated with security system.

Desmond's computer makes a noise like the radar on the raft.

If you re-watch the part where Jack is Exploring Desmond's lab and the music starts playing. Your can hear Jack's name being called. I'm assuming it was by Kate but no way to know for sure yet. Its very faint but you can hear it. This is one of those imagined things either cause if you put the caption on it says (Muffled voice - "Jack")

Has anyone gotten a closeup screen capture of the painting in Desmond's living room? It could be a large photo. It looks like part of the island but it's hard to tell without a blowup of it.

Steering column = Driveshaft???

Fish in the mural like in Michaels picture.

duckyislost - When Shannon sees Walt he's wearing a black shirt with a white stripe on it. This is a negative image of the shirt he was wearing when he was abducted which is beige with a black stripe.

The dome from Walt's/ Hurley's comic is similar to the interior of the Hatch.

Proof there is more than one person in the Hatch - bunkbeds, backgammon, pingpong paddle on the couch, shower scene, Desmond is wearing clothes, sleeping schedule, to be continued......

If you notice when Desmond then goes to the gun locker the combination shows it starting on 23 and then he turns to 42 to open.

Hi everybody!

It's midnight here, first time I've been able to get online all day. I have to get up in 4 hours to catch a flight to Washington, DC so I don't have time to start incorporating all the notes recorded on this page yet. For tonight I'm going to key my own notes into the outline, then when I return on Monday I'll finish up. I'm sure by then this thread will have grown exponentially, anyway.

Thanks for all your input and help.

I saw that, too. The captions say someone yells 'Jack' three times before the music stops.

I would like to add that the game on Desmonds dining room table is not backgammon. To me, it appears to be Go:

Same concept of black and white stones. That doesn't look like backgammon to me though.

Here's a photo of the table:

Now remember Locke told Boone he could feel the place, and then threw the flashlight to Boone. We know it is magnetized. Does Locke have an implant? Or was he just wearing so much metal that he was being pulled to it?.

I just skimmed through the thread for any reference to flashlights and this was it. So, here goes my big observation:

dropping flashlights/hatch discoveries:

1. Locke tosses Boone the flashlight, who drops it on something metallic sounding- thus, the hatch was first discovered.

2. Hurley drops the flashlight at the hatch and when he goes to pick it up, he sees The Numbers on the hatch. Thus, in addition to Hurley's history with the numbers and Danielle's, he knows for sure that the Numbers are somehow connected to the island and what's in the hatch.

3. As Locke lowers Kate into the hatch, she drops her flashlight. This is just prior to the discovery of Desmond, a person, living in the hatch.

Why all these big discoveries with the hatch coinciding with people dropping flashlights????

It had to do with the area around the hatch having a strong magnetic pull but I always say 3 times and they are trying to point something out to you. Did anyone's flashlight break when they dropped it? That's what usually happens. I don't think any of them broke.

This is a minor point, but I've seen a few reference the time of Sarah's "miracle" to be 2:30, but as it was daylight during that scene, and Jack had been out running while it was still dark just before visiting her, and by looking closely at the hands on the hospital clock, I'm pretty sure that the visit occurred at 6:10 in the morning.

There was a lava lamp in Desmonds compound, near the record player. The whole hatch had a sixties early seventies look to it. There appeared to be early model computers also, the big box kind with the reels spinning. pic (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b170/cinamin8/oldcomputersmsmf.jpg) Could these be 60's era computers? And with the Mamma's and the Pappas song playing it really set the mood to that era.

Interesting questions by "other" posters

And....are the white and black stones that Adam and Eve had from the game that Desmond has in the hatch?

theres a green tennis ball on table (is it vincents? there's probably no tennis courts around, but is there another dog to play with?)

is it Claires blue sweatshirt on back of couch? Looks too small for a guy...

Is that a flat screen on the brick wall?

Hey, did a Google for St. Sebastian (the name of the hospital). VERY interesting:

http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/saints03.htm

A few things jumped out at me: Sebastian healed the wife of a fellow soldier via a miracle (which saints will do). He survived an attempt on his life (was tied to a tree and shot with arrows). Wasn't Charlie tied to a tree, seemed dead and brought back to life?

Sebastian is the patron saint of plague. Perhaps a connection to the "quarantine" sign? And weren't Rousseau's comrades killed by a plague?

He is also the patron saint of athletes. Considering Desmond said he was training for a race around the world and Jack and Desmond were both doing a tour de stad, that could be another connection.

Then Jack purposefully drops his torch down to the bottom of the hatch, torch = old fashioned flashlight

When Jack gets to the bottom of the hatch he finds a small flashlight that he uses to look around. (Locke's? and is this the same flashlight that Locke threw to Boone that allowed them to discover the outside of the hatch? )

As Jack turns around he sees the light mounted on the wall ... the light fixture looks like a large flashlight (and is likely the source of light that Locke has seen coming from the hatch both before and after they blew it open.)

It's also pretty light outside Sarah's window. 6:10am probably darker, 6:10pm ? Jack could have been running in an indoor stadium.

I'm pretty sure it was actually night when he was running, but also, as Jack has been established as being in LA, there are no indoor stadiums in LA. I'm guessing that was supposed to be Dodger's Stadium, but it could be the Rose Bowl or the place where the Raiders used to play, I forget the name.

Desmond told Jack he shouldn't try to keep up with him.

it looks to me like the the symbol on the wall, where the yinyang would be in the chinese bagua, is instead a globe. like the sillouhette of the continents on a globe. this would go along with Desmond's comment about getting ready for a race around the world. It's the 8 bagua's around the world, literally. (It also references the Korean flag, which is interesting.) It makes me think of a scientific research company.

I think the episode title refers to Desmond as well as the growing rift between Locke and Jack. He seems to be a man of considerable faith when talking to Jack, but he seems to be a part of something scientific or research oriented in the hatch. The symbols in the hatch refer to both science and asian spirituality. Thus making Desmond a man of science and a man of faith.

The magnet in the hatch yanked Jack's chain, literally.

The washer and dryer in Desmond's hatch look brand new while most others look to be 70's or 80's era. His computer reminded me alot of the commodore 64, which was one of the first home computers in the early 80's.

The "angry green smiley" is the command prompt for old computers.

Desmond injected himself with one of those guns you see used alot for innoculations or antidotes in movies, particularly ones involving the military or government science experiments. I think that would go along with the quarantine sign posted on the inside of the hatch.

There were a bunch of bottles of paint by the wall with the graffiti on it, inside the hatch.

Shannon's father is named Adam, like the Adam and Eve in the cave. Are they hinting at something about who she is and her importance much the way that Jack, who so far doesn't believe, is the son of a Christian Shepard?

I think that Walt appeared to or was calling to Vincent, who went to see him, and when Shannon and Sayid came looking for him, he was trying to lead them to Walt. To me the whispers seemed to be coming from outside Walt. It seemed Walt was trying to speak but he couldn't make sound, and was drowned out by the whispers.

If I remember correctly, when Jack asked Locke what was in the hatch (or what he thought was in the hatch), Locke replied "hope". I dont have the old recording to refer to for check, but this is what I recall.

The flashbacks add a little bit of weight to Locke's question of "Why don't you want to go in the hatch", I think.

Check this out. While looking at jewelry I relooked at this pik and the key the manager is holding looks like an airplane? (http://lost-tv.com/pictures/displayimage.php?album=19&pos=24)

Desmond could be The World............or The Man as opposed to Ethan's The Other Man

aren If we were to go beyond the idea of children just being captured, Hurley would also fit into this. The numbers have brought him bad luck, so he is cursed. But Hurley has also predicted the past and present not knowingly. I checked TV.com (http://www.tv.com/) for some quotes and I saw Hurley was quoted saying, "4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42, 4, 8, we’re dead, 15, dude we're dead, 16, 23, 42." Notice how he said, "We're dead" after the 8 and then, "Dude we're dead" after the 15. Adam Rutherford was pronounced dead at 8:15 as a result of Sarah's car accident. Not sure if that's significant enough to be called a solid connection or just a coincidence, but I found it interesting nonetheless. However, we do keep seeing these numbers come up again and again. So this means Hurley does have some sort of powers with those numbers.

MarkTheShark
We don't see what key he hits first, then spacebar, but we do see that his next key could very well be the 8...
http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=key82vu.jpg

Spacebar then the 1 and 5 keys...
http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=key1a2xg.jpg

Spacebar then the 1 and 6 keys...
http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=key1b8sa.jpg
http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=key63jv.jpg

Spacebar then the 2 key...
http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=key22oz.jpg

Which we will have to assume would be followed by the 4 key, spacebar, then the 4 and 2 keys before he hits the EXECUTE key.

If you get a chance to watch it again, try to follow it closely.

There are 42 water spouts on Desmonds shower head. One row of 16, another row of 16, an interior row of 10.

Season 1 Number Update I found this site that had this update, and I just noticed it said update number 2. I'll see if there's more.

4 - # on the sticker of hazardous material when Boone speaks with Brian at the boat docks

8 - # of weeks it had been since Susan heard from Michael after his accident.

23 - The sum of Oceanic 815.

4 - # of times Charlie turns on the flashlight before he goes into the caves to attempt to rescue Jack in The Moth.

8 - # of times Hurley says pee after he steps on the sea urchin in Hearts And Minds. [Thank you Orly]
# of deaths that occurred on the island in the first season
In Exodus Part 2, Sawyer sings Redemption Song by Bob Marley and the Wailer's while he's on the raft. The song is from their 8th CD, Uprising. [Thank you Orly]

42 - Sawyer is seen reading the book Watership Down. In 2003, Watership Down was voted the 42nd greatest book of all time. [Thank you Orly]

815 - Sun and Jin are Korean. South Korea's independence day is August 15th. 8/15.

Did anybody mention the Jesus fish on the mural? There's at least four of them.
If you look at it symbolically they look similar to an eye. There's also the eye (m sick). And you could say the sun symbol with the 108 in it is similar to an eye.

I get an apocalyptic feel from this mural. The waves, the sun, the hash marks like he's counting the days.

Creme - I´m not sure if you have this on your list, but Sawyer is born in 1968, and was 8 yrs old when he wrote the letter in 1976. Found that on www.oceanicflight815.com.
If you or someone already has been there gathering all info for the list, please let me know (or I will spend a couple of days on that web page :) )

I dont see it in the list:

The song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" can be related to a way of say (i think it's French) somebody is crazy: "She dances a music all of her own" is a line from the film Chocolat, said by a woman describing another who is supposed to be crazy, since se dances to a music no other can hear. It may just mean that Desmond can see/make out things nobody else can, or that he can do things no one else can or would do.

recurring phrases: See you in another life (desmond to jack, like Nadia to Sahid)

weapons: all des' weapons are made in russia (question again: where are Danielle's weapons from? any possible link with Des'?)

Welcome back creme!

SamG and others- thanks for clarifying the color of Walt's shirt. I didn't have a chance to go back and check screencaps and my memory was playing tricks on me. I do think its darker than the grey shirt would look wet, but who knows. Creepy nonetheless.

Teresa falls up the stairs, Jack falls up the stairs at the stadium....

From Numbers transcript:
MARTHA TOOMEY: On the way home, a pickup truck blows a tire on the highway,
hits us head-on.
(Very similar to Sarah's accident: Her tire blew, Car jumped the divider, went head-on with an S.U.V.)

Jack says "I'm gonna go get the dynamite that we didn't use". They used 3 to blow the hatch, didn't Kate throw the other 3 down the hole Locke was getting pulled into by the monster?

Lots of red around Desmond. Walls of the hatch living area, exercise bike, fruit in his smoothie, clothes in the laundry, cabinet the vials are in, Logo on his shirt at the stadium.

The stadium scene was actually filmed at Aloha stadium, its not a domed stadium. (Of course Jack is not supposed to literally be running in that particular stadium.) Spoilers in the linked article. http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050812/LIFE/508120315/1076

The eye shot that opens the episode, Desmond's. First time we have an eye shot of someone who wasn't on Oceanic flight 815. (as far as we know)

I thought about that too, and then instantly thought "Well, what about Aaron and Exodus??".

Then I thought "hey retard, Aaron was on the plane"...

I am curious (since Damon said "No Comment" to this question), if one will open with Rosseau's eye. Obviously this board would be one of the first to know that, but I do think it would be interesting to see what her flashbacks would be like.

when i did a search for bible 16:23 (the numbrs that keep appearing) i comes up with:-

Luke 16:23-And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

and it took me back to when desmond and jack were on the steps and desmond says "you've got to lift it up" but doesn't clarifywhat he means for a while.
spooked me out a bit!

The transcript is up at Lost-theseries.

Kristina, I think we had figured out Sawyer's birth year from various things he told us. In Exodus he told Michael he was 8 when his daddy killed himself. I don't know how Creme feels about the things from Oceanic. Good for props, that we never really get to see but crummy for accurate numbers, as far as we know, they conflict with what the show hads told us. It's a fun site to look around on. Who knows....

shootfire That is a good one. On top of that, I find that the use of the word column was striking in the premier. Sarah had part of the steering columnsticking out of her chest. Her spinal column was crushed, and Locke was talking about a column of smoke sucking him into a hole. It just reminds me of Danielle's equations and sacred geometry stuff I was talking about way back in the thread. Hmmm....

shootfire Isn't it interesting that Shannon was given a word puzzle to decipher in the premier? She has to figure out what Walt was saying because he was speaking backwards. Or does she already know what he said?

The symbolism/foreshadowing of Kate unearthing a time capsule in BTR and the dated contents of the hatch seems more concrete now. So will the date 8/15/89 be a pivotal date for the hatch? It would seem the hatch was stocked with items older than that date, and Desmond's first meeting with Jack seems more recent. Anyway, something to watch for.

Pardon me if this has already been addressed. I'm woefully behind the times right now.

I saw somewhere on this site somebody mentioned that Jack's tag at the hospital noted 1997.

Is that confirmed with a screen cap? Any possibility it might be 1987? I ask because Jack's do was much more 80s than 90s looking to me, plus it puts the timeframe of that flashback closer to a 16 year time frame for Desmond to have been on the island (same as Danielle).

I watched Adrift, again, last night and I was wondering if we might be gettin a whole new set of numbers this season? We would still have the original set but at some point we know that Jack's 5 in going to come into play. 108 which is the sum of the numbers but until this season was not shown as a number. Just playing with ideas.

Was 108 shown on the note that Hurley was holding that had the numbers and equations on it (in Numbers)? Or was that simply something we figured out on our own?

Truth, I hope they don't go making major changes to the symbology and mytharc at this point. We already have enough to keep track of.

108 was only the sum of the numbers last season. We never had a sighting but researched the crap out of it. lol I brought it to the LLL with the color blue stuff (good call on deleting it, it went nowhere), and we weren't too sure if we should use it, and VINDICATION when the mural was shown.

A couple months ago a poster started a thread about another set of numbers. I made all kinds of lists and there are some obvious numbers that stand out all ready, 5 being one of them. 3 has made a lot of appearances too.

I didn't subscribe to it, so I'm hoping it pops up soon.

* Locke refers to Hurley as Hugo for second time. How does he know his name?

Didn't this come out as part of the whole flight manifest/census stuff? I know that Hurley has told someone his real name, either Jack or Charlie, so I wouldn't be surprised if it became public knowledge after a while. Interesting that Locke is using Hurley's real name as opposed to his nickname - does this indicate something about Locke and what he believes about identity/names?

there is a cut clip where hurley tells Locke his name is Hugo much later in the season.
and he calls him that at the hatch. if he had any doubt, i guess he wouldn't have answered to it hehe

I skimmed this thread, but didn't see this observation, so forgive me if it has already been discussed.

When Sarah shows Jack that she can move her toe, it reminded me of Locke waking up from the crash in Walkabout and the other instances in that episode, when Locke would look at his toe as the camera looked at him and his toe from below, and then he slowly made his toe move before being able/realizing that he could move his leg. Sarah's moving her toe seemed to be shot in exactly the same way.

I don't know if this has been answered for you already or not, but I looked up who Saint Sebastian is:

Son of a wealthy Roman family. Educated in Milan. Officer of the Imperial Roman army, and captain of the guard. Favorite of Diocletian. During Diocletian's persecution of the Christians, Sebastian visited them in prison, bringing supplies and comfort. Reported to have healed the wife of a brother soldier by making the Sign of the Cross over her. Converted soldiers and a governor.

Charged as a Christian, Sebastian was tied to a tree, shot with arrows, and left for dead. He survived, recovered, and returned to preach to Diocletian. The emperor then had him beaten to death.

During the 14th century, the random nature of infection with the Black Death caused people to liken the plague to their villages being shot by an army of nature's archers. In desparation they prayed for the intercession of a saint associated with archers, and Saint Sebastian became associated with the plague.
