All I could make out was something to the effect of
"Ianswer to noone..." or "... but her" or "... it's her"

someone told me he said "press the button, no the button bad" and was talking backwards...

Come on, we have no idea what he said. I have heard everything from "Have to tell Locke" to "I love you". It sure was a nice creepy image though, wasn't it? :)

I LOVE YOU!!!!!! lmfao I have NO idea what he said and I was watching it on surround sound. I must check it again. I don't think we'll be sure for a longo time.

It seemed to me that something was off. I heard words, but his mouth didn't move with them, like he was talking backward.

I don't think he was really there, I think it was some kind of teleprojecting through the dog. :roflmao:

from what I've read on the oceanicflight815 threads. he was talking backwards and he says "press the button" and then "when he's not there"

Press the "execute" button when Desmond's not there? Suppose that's what he meant?

The button....interesting. Hmmm....

The links aren't working. :(

That would make sense. How would Walt know that? Very creepy... the whole scene gave me chills.

The weird thing is what was Walt covered in? It couldn't have been water...it was thicker.

Yeah, it reminded me of slime from the monsters in Aliens.

I'm gonna say it was water. Everything about him seemed "slow", the water probably wasn't as well, watery. He did come from ocean, in theory, after all.

Yeah, some kind of goo. I was also reminded of that pink stuff Neo was in in the Matrix....well, Walt wasn't pink but you know. lol

09-22-2005, 02:12 AM
Ya it looked like some kind of gel, like you know that stuff that they put on actors/stunt doubles before they light them on fire? lol But it was probably just water. It makes a lot more sense than fire proof gel LOL

Aurora10
09-22-2005, 02:24 AM
Haha! True....it could have been slowed down but who knows. We just know that the others have done something to him. It's some kind of wacky paste stuff...lol j/k I just felt like saying that. I miss Boone.

LMAO!!! girlie you crack me up! I just laughed out loud alone in my room and I feel like an idiot...

Maybe it's the same paste that Locke put on Boone's head! LOL j/k people are probably getting scared of us... :lol2:

Looked to me like Walt had been slimed. Who ya gonna call.....Ghostbusters!

Not to be negative but that scene reminded me of old stroies of ghostly visitations. People will see someon at the moment of their death. a last visit before they "go".

Not that I think Walt is dead. a friend of mine has w theory about their being psychics an their thoughts being the whispers. Also that they are strong enough to cause tings to happen (the trees being moved) but not enough to make things visible.

I like people's theory on here but I think it really was Walt. The only thing I have to back this up is that if it were Shannon's head then why would she imagine him wet, since she has no idea about the raft yet. Maybe it's a scrambled image of him being transimtted from elsewhere on the island. I'm beginning to think the whole place is a giant machine (Desmond's hatch = control room?)

I think the simplest explanation is that Walt is saying "Press the button, don't the button's bad", in a conflicted manner similar to the time that Locke dreamt of Boone saying "Theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs". Perhaps there is a black/white duality going on here being embodied by Walt's appearance. Does anyone remember Walt mentioning a button in the first season?

Someone went through the trouble of slowing it down to half and then 1/4 speed. The link won't last forever so hopefully someone can host this.

Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, what IF:

Walt figured out how to project an image of himself from wherever he is--either from the boat, which seems unlikely, as that thing was pretty rag-tag and did not seem a likely candidate to be hiding any high-tech equipment within the cabin! More likely, Walt has already been taken to the "other worldly" (pun intended!) underground "Biosphere II Gone Mad" world we glimpsed on Wednesday 9/21, and he somehow figured out how to use some holographic equipment or SOMETHING to project his image so that Shannon could see him. Perhaps the "slime" all over him is some sort of media he had to put all over his body so that his image could be picked up by whatever machine he used to project his image out. And if he truly was saying, as some seem to have heard (I can't wait to watch my tape of this episode again!!!) "Press the button, when he's not there", he indeed might mean to press the "execute" button on the computer! Also, it would make sense that he held his finger up to his mouth to "ssshhhhh" Shannon, as perhaps, if she talks, it could be picked up by the security system and they would be alerted to the fact that Walt was projecting his image/voice and sending a message. Perhaps this is also why the "others" always only whisper when out in the woods: So that their own security system does not get tripped "on" by their voices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Far flung theory? Maybe, but nothing is too "out there" when it comes to this imaginative series!!!! Walt is a brilliant kid. If he is trapped underground with the "others", he would try to figure out a way to at least get a message to the Lostaways, and maybe Vincent picked up a vibe or something from Walt as to exactly where he needed to lead Shannon in the woods so that she could pick up the image he was sending. Talk about "you have been sent an e-greeting by Shannon...you can pick it up at www.ilostthedamndog.com".

Obsessed, OUT!

P.S. Omg! Just thought of something! Must use all caps!* Sonography equipment requires that a slime stuff be placed on the patient so that the sonographic image can be conveyed! Just a Lockefan brilliant lightbulb moment here!

* Hmmm...interesting, this message board software automatically changes case from all-caps to initial caps. Okay, bold it is, instead!

Maybe it is 'DON'T press the button' and we just catch part of it.

Im positive on what I saw. It wasn't water, it was much thicker.

It was a dark red liquid, which what I can think of is blood!

But the sonography jelly makes sense!

This is my first post ever. Anyway, I listened to Walt's whispers forward and unaltered. It sounds to me like he's saying, "Press the (help?) button to help you through." Hopefully we'll know soon. I'm sure the PTB meant for his mouth movement and his speach to be different. However, I have naive n00b hope that the VIPs did not mean for Walt's message to be so unclear & that one of them will clue us in. The Nomad did give us the swan clue. I know, I probably have a better chance of seeing God.

Sorry if it's allready been posted....

Has anyone been able to make out what the whispers were saying right before Shannon saw Walt?!?! They were loud enough to get her attention......

I'm pretty sure the "others" whispers, just like sayid, and sawyer heard, where just there for the effect. They normally don't actually say anything that you can make out. I tried listening to them about a dozen times with different settings on my surround sound and I couldn't make anything out in particular.

I am positive about the fact that Walt is water-wet.. Just look at the way the fluid is dropping from his chin, arm, and t-shirt... this is no thick gel, just water...

Walt could be drown-dead and this would be a projection of his ghost... :frown:

As for the whispers, here is what I caught with sound up:

... I(eyes) see you (?) ... eyes (?)... Shannon... :undecide:

Not very sure about it but check it out...

yea i think it was water too, maybe it looked like goop because of the lack of light making it look really shiny and then it dripping off his face slowly, ..well he was speaking really slowly too. although i didn't understand or hear a word he said...mmmm

this is why i love lost!! haha so cool!

Yesterday, Lost_In_Homework posted a theory that Walt is in under the waterfall. This explains his appearance and the fact that it looks like water is being poured on him. There could be more to the waterfall scene than Sawyer and Kate swimming and finding the Halliburton under the dead people. Anyone want to go spleunking?

What do you think of this idea? I love it.

I have seen alot of people talk about Walt's whisper to Shannon so I decided to see what I could do with it. I recorded the sound where Shannon sees Walt into my computer.

These are SWF files, in other words, flash files. Once they play in your browser, hit Refresh or Reload to play again. I hope this works.

Here is the audio of the scene played normally:

http://img188.imageshack.us/my.php?image=walt17jq.swf

Here is where things get interesting. I reversed Walt's whisper and words are clearly being said:

http://img188.imageshack.us/my.php?image=walt23cf.swf

So if Walt's whisper truly is backwards, maybe what he is saying has been modified too. I cut and paste the word "don't" in a different spot and here is the result:

http://img188.imageshack.us/my.php?image=walt36ip.swf

Is Walt saying to Shannon "Don't press the button, the button's bad"?

If so, is he referring to the computer in the underground living quarters?

I also noticed that the crickets are not chirping while Walt is speaking to Shannon, then after Sayed calls to her their sound fades back in along with a few dog barks.

Any other thoughts? :undecide:

I think Walt has powers , but doesn't conciously use them...he doesn't really understand them himself. When someone is dying you often hear that they project themself to another in one last effort to be heard. I think Walt is either drowning or drowned when he appeared to Shannon..to warn her of (?) something. He trusts her he gave her the dog to take care of,,,and he really loves that dog. Vincent could also be the "medium" that he is able to make contact through?
Another thought more practial then anything...is they are killing off Walter because they can't explain how quickly he has grown....in the upcoming days, weeks , etc. Boys his age, are in a growth spurt..the body grows and changes will not fit into Lost's island's timeframe.

Is it me or does it sound like he's saying "Press the button, no button's bad". I listened to the link that was slowed down to a few different speeds (bless you whoever did that) and that's what I got out of it.

Seems pretty spot on to "Press the button...the button's bad". As in press it because it will muck things up for Desmond or the Others or whoever.

But what does it matter...she has no clue what Walt said. So is it significant...other than the fact that creepy things are going down and everyone knows about it?

What gives with the human shadow that tripped Shannon? That was pretty evident and I haven't seen mention of it.

:shock1:

There is no "shadow" (in that sense), actually. I went frame by frame through this, and there is a light source behind her. Her shadow is casted on the plant leaves in front of her and appears to be a "shadow" in front of her, but only because the light source is behind her (use her hair as the light's reference).

I can make an animated gif of this if needed.

Here we go. I have no life and made this anyway, specifically to debunk it. You can tell its her shadow being cast on the plant from the light behind her.

Very random but I'm watching the news right now and they interviewed this one football player from my university: he looks like a grown up Walt! Freaky deaky! Mmk...I'm done.
