View Full Version : Timeline of Desmond & Jack Conflicts Alexander 09-22-2005, 04:15 AM Why is Desmond's environment set to the seventies? Didn't he and Jack meet in what would be the late nineties to the early 2000's? Diaz 09-22-2005, 10:16 AM He hasn't been there since the late 70s early 80s. He's just there now. The equipment and facility pre-dates the guy currently manning the security station. He's just the one currently "on duty" Or, perhaps it's not Desmond but his twin (or clone)......... flora 09-23-2005, 02:18 PM That weight bench and blender looked pretty new, despite the rest of the decor being rather retro. jet3004 09-23-2005, 02:25 PM That weight bench and blender looked pretty new, despite the rest of the decor being rather retro. (As stated a million times previously) As does the washing and drying machines and some appliances. It's obvious that if there is just ONE Desmond that he has not been there forever...WHY can some of you not see that? Dit420 09-23-2005, 02:28 PM Not too mention Desmond may just be into the Art-deco style of design? I mean really, what's cooler than Lava lamps and Beenbag chairs? sharma1 09-23-2005, 05:03 PM (As stated a million times previously) As does the washing and drying machines and some appliances. It's obvious that if there is just ONE Desmond that he has not been there forever...WHY can some of you not see that? Yes I agree, It does not mean he has been there a long time, in fact I think he comes and goes as he pleases. Eleri 09-26-2005, 11:28 PM If Desmond is the original inhabitant of the Hatch, he would have to be able to come and go at will, so that he was out when he met Jack in the stadium. Was that meeting coincidence? Or was it all planned, and that was one in a string of meetings that would lead all those people to be on the plane? Was Jack marked somehow by that meeting? And if Desmond is not the original Hatch resident, is he a willing replacement, or a castaway who stumbled across the Hatch, much like Locke did. Could it be that luring people to the island somehow is part of a screening process for whatever experiment the Hatch represents? ryepnt 09-26-2005, 11:46 PM hmmm... good thought. Like a job application, exept if you don`t get the job your dead... supakrazze 09-29-2005, 03:18 PM did anyone else see the logo on that shark when he was trying to eat sawyer?? i think the same logo as the one on desmonds shirt. GettinLost 09-29-2005, 11:31 PM I think he is the next in line of a long succession of people who have been there... Maybe when he asked Locke if he was "the one" he meant the "one who will replace me so I can GO HOME"! GL :coolorng: Sinner 09-30-2005, 06:01 AM First post... I also noticed that, while Des' record player looks pretty old, his needle/cartridge appears to be a Shure M44-7 which is very popular amongst the scratch DJ's... while I'm not too sure, I think they debuted in the late 80's... what does it mean? I don't know... it was just strange seeing it there... LostHatch 09-30-2005, 12:16 PM Supposing that the Adam Rutherford that died in the hospital is Shannon's father (we don't know it for a fact...but suppose for a moment it is true): Shannon told Hurley she was 20 years old in S1E10 (2004), putting her birth year at 1984. Boone, in S1E13, and later Shannon in S1E20, reveals that Shannon was 8 years old when Shannon's father married Boone's mother, which means the year was 1992 when Mr. Rutherford married Ms. Carlyle. So Adam Rutherford would have died sometime on or after the year 1992. |
