Actually, in your defense, myself and another woman at work today both agreed that we thought that Desmond's back looked like Sawyer's and we were both momentarily confused by it. It's not just you...

Yeah I thought it was Sawyer too, in a flashback or something. But if its Desmond, then how was his hair all straight....woah! this just came to me. Maybe Desmond isnt the only one in the hatch. And there's another guy that looks like Sawyer down there.......OR...kinda out on a limb here....maybe it WAS Sawyer. I mean, he got shot and we last saw him in the ocean, but where did he go after that?.....oh, scratch that. Its probably a stupid idea...

You might be on to something. I noticed something as I was just watching. In the first scene we see a man taking a shower. I'm assuming they went down into the hatch about 2-3 hours max after the explosion. When Jack is down there and Desmond has the gun pointed at Locke you can clearly see his hands and dirty fingernails. How did he get so dirty so fast?

I don't think Desmond has black curly hair...From what I could see his hair was brown and kind of shaggy...but just wet from running when he talked to Jack. Which makes your hair darker and more 'curly'. I have to rewind the end of the show to see how his hair looked in the hatch scenes...but I'm fairly certain it matched...

this is definately something we need some caps of....i agree in my shabby memory ...the shower guy had lighter straight-sawyer hair and desmond has more chocolate colored hair that was wavy/curly....
there are bunk beds and reason to believe there are more down there....the (whatever we are calling this under-hatch living area???bunker??) looks huge from what we have seen....

There absolutely was a reason they went to lengths to make the rear of whomever that was look like sawyer - it may or may not have been desmond, they didn't really show us enough to be able to tell if we were looking at two seperate people in the hatch.

Which makes me think of JJ telling folks that the guys on the boat were twins and that could be important...

dude... it was desmond.. that was the point... that way we couldn't have told that that was him on the "tour de stad"... you know... it was brilliant the way they did it.. but yeah... that was desmond.. no doubt

I agree that either two people live in the hatch right now, or did at one point. However, I do think that the man in the hatch we see is Desmond.

Yes, on the preview for the premiere they showed the shower scene and I immediately thought it was Sawyer. But of course we didn't know about Desmond yet. Now I'm just not sure.

It's definately Desmond in the beginning!! (see Henry's web site) Now we have to figure out why his appearance/demeanor changed so much in a couple hours. Was he infected when the hatch opened????? :boxed:

Its probably a stupid idea...His hair was straight in the shower scene because he was taking a shower. Curly hair goes straight while it's wet. Anytime I take a shower my curly hair is straight until after it starts to dry a little bit.

No doubt a woman came up with this theory. Wishful thinking? lol

I must say, I thought is was a flash back for sawyer. I mentioned to my husband that it looked like Sawyers shoulders.

If it were Sawyer, why does it look like he was or would be so unattended. No one watching over him or even shown looking in on him with any concern on his whereabouts or what he might be up to.

Would Sawyer be so comfortable in such a strange environment that is maintained by a person or people who could have helped them all get off the island or at least offer help?

I think I'd be too paranoid to take a shower in some strange bunker with my back to everything if I had just been shot by people who went who knows where.

I believe it was Desmond, whether or not we are ever shown anything to qualify that fact.

I agree with you TabbyRasa...although I know that Desmond is one of the people in the hatch, the guy in the shower did look like Sawyer. I think they did it maybe to throw us off and think that it was a flashback of Sawyer's. Also, possibly they showed two different people in the hatch and only showed them one at a time?

As a DIMPLE - I thought at first it was Sawyer as well!! And yes - I did watch it all the way through! But when I saw that back and hair in the shower - I said, "OMG! It's Sawyer!! He's not a con-man after all"!

Sorry... Hope they don't revoke my DIMPLES membership... But it has been almost 4 months since I have seen the man partially nekkid!! :biggrin:
