First off, Hello!* I hope your holidays are going well.* :)
I was asking an actor friend of mine here at work some questions.* I thought his answer to one was quite interesting and I wanted to get your perspective and take on it.* I pondered one of his replies and wondered if it was spoken by someone smart, hungry or greedy in terms of wanting the spotlight alone?* I'm not in the business so hey, what do I know?* :P
******DISCLAIMER:* You of course have a MAJOR starring role in Lost which is VERY well-written (my absolute favorite show!), so I want you to think outside of LOST. * ;D ;D
HYPOTHETICALLY speaking:
"If you could be the LEAD starring actor in a well-written show that gets LOW viewership as opposed to being the 4th minor character in an ensemble cast that has medicore writing at best, but HIGH viewership, which would you choose?* Also hypothetically speaking, 3 seasons are locked in for both, so it can't be the basis for your answer.* Oh and neither can pay.
Which would it be?
1)* 3 seasons as the LEAD starring role/character in a show that has GREAT writing but LOW viewership?
2)* 3 seasons as the 4th MINOR character in a show that has MEDIOCRE writing but HIGH viewership?
*This jump started a very entertaining discussion yesterday and is still going on today.* I thought the answer would be obvious, but again, I'm not in the business so what do I know?* :-[
