Hi Matt.

Firstly, congratulations on the Emmy and the brilliant season opener (including the ratings)! Unfortunately, us Aussie fans wont get to see Season 2 until February (Lost was the numero uno rated programme here this year), so this site is a much appreciated haven.

It is great to see the diary back up and running, although 'Mustang Sally' is sorely missed. She became quite attatched to that diary, as we did her. Hopefully she will make a guest appearance in the future, and if not, maybe our new diarist will give us an update on her sometime.

I read on another post that you spent a 'brief' time here in Oz, and you are consulted on most things 'Aussie'. Hey, feel free to pick my brain if need be.

Now, I can't write to you without throwing a couple of questions at you, so here goes...

Is there any chance that we may meet any other Australian 'lostaways' apart from Claire on the island any time in the future? It is just that I assume that a flight departing from Australia would have had a few more Australian passengers, therefore 'upping' the chances of more Aussie survivors (ratios and the like).

Lastly, have you ever read any of the theories posted here and discussed elsewhere, and thought, "Now that is just crazy" ? I must admit, I have raised my eyebrows quite a few times whilst reading theories.

Anyway, thank-you for the continuing great work, from yourself and ALL of your colleagues.

Regards,

Rory.

Hi Rory,

First of all, well done on the Kylie Minogue Icon. Nice! And a further thank you for your compliments on the season opener, I'm thrilled you like it. The response so far has been wonderful.

Between you and me, if you are in Oz, how did you get to see the first episode already? I ask not to try and get you into any trouble, I promise, I'm just curious, that's all. When did season 1 end down there? Where do you live and what do you do? I spent 10 months down there in 1994 and went all over, but spent the most time in one place living in the Rose Bay suburb of Sydney (Go the Easties Beasties!!!). I LOVE Australia. Definitely one of my favorite places in the world.
And speaking of Australia, I would say the chances of you seeing more Aussies are very, very good for the immediate future. But that's all I'm going to say about that, okay?

I don't really have time to read many theories, but those I have read are really interesting. Sure, some are "crazy", but then again, no crazier than some of the things we say in the writers room ourselves, you know? Thanks for the offer to help with all things AUSSIE and I will definitely pass along your kind words to the rest of the staff. Thanks for watching and for your message.

Cheers,

Raggs

Oh, and I would count on some information regarding the disappearance of "Mustang Sally" to be included in the diary by its new author.

Hi Raggs,

Firstly, let me say thanks for replying so quickly, and thanks for recognising the Kylie icon (she has had a tough time these past few months since she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but it looks like she will make a full recovery).

I haven't seen the first episode yet (sorry if I gave that impression), but I read all the spoilers here, in addition to surfing the web, and we get E.T. here on 24 hour delay, and they have shown a few snippets of the season opener as well as broadcasting your ratings, so I hope that puts any fears you had to rest.

Season 1 ended here at the end of August, as our ratings season is basically from February to October. The season 1 dvd is released here on 30th November, and I'm sure it will end up in many people's Christmas stockings.

I live in beautiful Melbourne (did you manage to visit at all?) ,where I work as a Manager for a Borders bookshop store (my idea of Mecca). We just had the Aussie Rules Grand Final last weekend between Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles. In a nail biter, the Swans won by 4 points. This weekend is the Rugby League Final between the Tigers and the Nth Qld Cowboys. Neither team has won a final before, so should be good.

I am glad to hear that we will be seeing more Aussies turning up. So far it has been good seeing actors such as Kimberley Joseph and Teresa Livingstone cast in roles (if you speak to Teresa, tell her 'Agro' says hi), in addition to Emilie of course..

Finally, great to hear that we will hear something of 'Sally's' fate, hopefully it won't be too gruesome, but the fact that yourself and Dawn have made the diary such a success, I'm sure you wont let us down.

Regards,

Rory.

P.S. If you and your wife get down here, look me up, and I'll shout you both a beer (or 2, or....).

Forgive me, Rory, but I have just finished several glasses of wine with some friends and probably should continue this message when I am more compos mentis (which I hope will be tomorrow). But I certainly did get to Melbourne and spent a very happy week in St. Kilda while down there. God Bless VB!!! Hope the Swans were able to pull it out and I'll write more tomorrow, okay?

Hope things are well down in Oz.

All the best,

Raggs

Hey Raggs!

So sorry for the delay getting back to you, but I have have been a busy boy. I bought a lovely little 2 bedroom weatherboard cottage, and have been overseeing the works on it. After many delays, I finally got word today that all is finished and I will be moving in on the 31st of this month. Now the fun with removalists begin....

Anyway, I hear that the second season is going great guns, so slap yourselves on the back. I think you are on a short break at the moment, and when you return a female character will be passing away. I am sorry to hear that, but I am sure it will be in the context of the story, therefore I leave this person's passing in you and the teams very capable hands.

I have read that another 'Aussie' has joined the cast, so thank you for bringing Kimberley Joseph back, and thanks for being true to your word about me seeing more Aussies in Season 2 (Bring 'em on).

I have always had a passion for writing, and books (hence my career), but I must ask your professional opinion about something. I would love nothing more than to write a complete novel and have it published, but my problem is, no soonere do I start, I stop. What I mean by this, is I get the idea, thrash it out mentally and on pen and paper, to the point of chartacter development, then stop because I decide that that is not the story I wish to write. At this point I commence the vicious cycle again. How can I stop this indecisivness, or should I just keep doing this until I develop a stoey that I feel 100% comfortable with? Your professional opinion would be greatly appreciated.

With many regards,

Rory.
