Hi Matt,

I am writing a spec for pilot season and I wanted to ask if you could give me any guidelines for writing for the monster.

My manager and I are debating how to use he, she, it ...in the script. I was going to have it do nothing it hadn't done before except confront a group of people, rather than just two or three.

Also, Is it true that everything that happens on the island can be explained by science, or pseudo-science?

Pluto

P.S. Are you writing a spec for the show?

Hi Pluto,

Good for you for writing a spec. To answer your question, I, as yet, have not written a spec LOST. If you are writing for the monster, you may safely refer to said beast as "it." And to answer your question about everything being explained by science or pseudo-science, I would say that 99% of the time, you are correct. I am in charge of researching everything (along with Dawn Kelly) and making sure that we are absolutely legit, or as close to it as possible. That being said, this IS a very "special" island...and some very strange things have been known to happen here.

I hope that helps you. And good luck on your spec.
