Do you ever run into people who are annoyed that you were given the part of an Arab when you are, in fact, an ethnic Indian? I've heard that Marissa Tomei has gotten some flak for playing a Latina and Lou Diamond Phillips had the same experience when he played a Native American. There are very few parts for Arabs, so some Arab actors may be distressed when one of the rare Arab roles was given to a non-Arab. But then again, there are very few parts for Indians, unless of course you go to Mumbai.

Although I was surprised you were cast in that part, I was still happy about it. I didn't get to see enough of you in The English Patient! And I'm so glad they've given you a love interest, and a white woman at that! As a white woman involved with a brown man I love to see similar interracial couples on tv and the movies. I have an easier time identifying with the characters. I feel ... I don't know ... represented, I guess.

And congrats on the Emmy Nomination - you deserved it.
