View Full Version : Last episode featuring Desmond ?
number_22 09-30-2005, 06:26 PM Every clue is pointing towards the conclusion that this will be the last episode featuring Desmond. For one, Hery Ian Cusicks homepage only lists three episodes he stars in, then Terry O`Quinn said it WAS a pleasure working with him. So I think he will be offed in Orientation.
And I might say that it would SUCK big time if they really offed him, because he is the single most intriguing character on the show.
I agree. He seems to be a very good actor and I'm hoping hell just disappear into the jungle, hopefully to come back later on in the season/show. Plus the way he says "I'm Desmond" is awesome...haha.
number_22 09-30-2005, 06:50 PM That`s right Brothaaaa !
Just awesome how he introduces himself ! You have to love this guy, they should really make some plush desmonds !
timdorr 09-30-2005, 07:26 PM Maybe he doesn't die, but runs away or is taken? Chances are he knows what the island is all about, so they have to get rid of him before he hemmorages too much information :D
Madge 09-30-2005, 07:35 PM I hope he reappears as well, I'm digging the character.
quangtran 09-30-2005, 07:37 PM I think he's alright, but having him around all the time will dampen the whole "people surviving of an island" idea I like so much.
But killing him off would be lame, cause people will simply see it as a cheap way of the writers not having to explain any of the island mysteries. Anyone remember how angry people got when they offed Ethan?
Madge 09-30-2005, 07:45 PM I think we're past the 'they're all survivors on an island' at this point. Well, they're survivors of sorts, but I don't think they're survivors of a random plane crash any more. I think now we know what's underneath the island things are taking a whole different course.
quangtran 09-30-2005, 08:04 PM I think we're past the 'they're all survivors on an island' at this point.Well I'm not. I really wouldn't like it if the castaways started doing their laundry in Desmond's washer.
The writers said in an interview that in this season, they'll be a lot more emphasis on society building and island exploration, so I'm hoping LOST really does go that direction this season.
LostMyMarbles 09-30-2005, 09:41 PM Yeah, it won't be the same if they're all down in the Hatchelor Pad taking hot showers and eating chocolate instead of gazing out at the sunset from their beach shacks made of wreckage and blue tarps while munching on bananas. (Although I can understand that from THEIR perspective the Pad would be a far superior scenario.) If they're going to spend the season underground, why even film in Hawaii? But I don't want the hatch to be blown up, either--I'd really feel cheated.
bearlover2 09-30-2005, 10:57 PM I hope this isn't the last eppy for Desmond. I see him as a similar type character to Danielle - has some answers but not all the answers. I think there are several different things all going on the island and not just one big thing. For example - Danielle and her team have there secrets and how the island has affected them, Desmond is on the island to ????, with ??? and for the reason ???. Then we have the 'others' who I think are a totally separate group with their own agenda. Is Ethan part of one of these groups or still another one? So, I'm thinking we could meet several 'new' charaters who all have a piece of the story. And at the very end of Lost (not for many season to come) all the pieces of the puzzle will fit together and we'll find out exactly what is going on. OR we'll get the clues over the next __ seasons and in the finale just as we are going to get the ultimate answer the screen will be black and slowly will appear the one word Lost.
fugitivekate 09-30-2005, 10:58 PM ]I think Desmond is going to disappear after this episode because the previews for this episode show the computer getting shot out, and Desmond saying, "We're all going to die!" and running away into the forest
So I think it's safe to assume he'll be out of the picture, but I definitely think it would be an excellent way for them to bring him back later in the season...
I think he's definitely grown on a lot of fans.
kaiise 10-01-2005, 10:15 AM more than a coupe of months on the island turns you inot a complete flake!
then again if someone shot my computer i bet i wouldn't be taking it as well as desmond is.
Amber 10-01-2005, 10:25 AM here here!
addicted2much 10-01-2005, 12:34 PM spoiler fonting because I can :)
I heard recurring mentioned so he might show up in other character's flashbacks.
LostApril 10-01-2005, 01:19 PM I hate to see him go....i love a man with a scottish accent ;)
edeewildwild 10-01-2005, 08:00 PM Desmond is a twist that was unexpected.
We need to know more about that "Race Around the world" he was training for. I wonder, if Desmond wasn't collecting people on his race? People who might come together in some other place at a specific time. People who each have specific talents that might be useful in someway....
ahlene 10-01-2005, 10:45 PM I hate to see him go....i love a man with a scottish accent ;)
I love his accent as well .. and he has a really nice smile :)

Yes. I was afraid of that when he didn't get his own character section on the Fuselage.
I like this character alot, and would like him even more if he were a baddie. Ethan was a terrific, unexplored character as well. Gone too soon..... hopefully to return.

Noeland 10-02-2005, 07:55 PM That's exactly what I was going to say, he's season 2's answer to Ethan Rom. Anybody remember the ROM toy in the 80's? It was a robot. Hmmmmm . . . .
I have a gut feeling the hatch bunker is gonna be toast after this week's episode. Though, how nice would it be after being on that island to eat CHOCOLATE!!! And to take a shower with Kate and Shannon. That'd be like a mini vacation from hell. :)
Natassja 10-02-2005, 10:36 PM Desmond is by far the most intriging charachter I have seen on this show yet.....
Living_for_the_weekend 10-02-2005, 10:46 PM Maybe his homepage only lists the 3 episodes since they didnt want to give away the plots for future episodes/title
true_fortune 10-02-2005, 11:27 PM yeah i hope we see A LOT more of Desmond this season :):):)
Princeex86 10-03-2005, 01:12 AM well, i happen to think that the reason desmond yells "were all going to die" is BECAUSE the computer is shot out, hence no more way to reset the timer with the numbers, hence some huge explosion thats prolly gonna blow up the hatch. just my opinion though.
Oggie 10-04-2005, 12:57 PM That makes good sense, and when the hatch blows up. So does all that food.
genghis 10-04-2005, 02:51 PM And to take a shower with Kate and Shannon.
Wha!? :o
Wha!? :o
Yeah, Wha!? What about Claire?!
LostMyMarbles 10-04-2005, 03:31 PM I for one will be truly pissed if they blow up the hatch, which they spent all last season teasing us about and which is obviously the central mystery of Craphole Island. Even apart from the issue of losing the fascinating Desmond.
blondefilmgirl 10-04-2005, 04:20 PM Well I'm not. I really wouldn't like it if the castaways started doing their laundry in Desmond's washer.

Word.
I like the character, but keeping him around, IMO, will provide to many answers too quickly. And I'm definitely not ready to go that route.
number_22 10-04-2005, 06:35 PM Word.

I don`t think so, I mean probably he doesn`t have that many answers too, he`s been living underground for quite some time. It would really be a disgrace to off him after just 3 episodes.
porkinz 10-04-2005, 07:30 PM They have to do something with the hatch we can't have a nice supply of food and shelter not to mention equipment for Sayid to mess around with.
That doesn't look to good for our friend Desmond either he doesn't have to die but must dissapear one way or another because whatever he knows is more than we know or possibly want to know so early and amnesia is so last week.
bucki4life2003 10-04-2005, 07:41 PM i thought i saw in some promo pics for upcoming ep's thta they were eating the hatch food...so they must not blow up the hatch(accidentally or on purpose)...or they get the food out first....i cant wait to see what they throw at us in 2x03-orientation...
blondefilmgirl 10-04-2005, 09:49 PM Oh I definitely agree that the hatch shouldn't completely consist of just a food raid.
And while I don't necessarily think offing him would be the best answer, to have Desmond brought on as a regular might be too much of a change for the show. I wouldn't normally say that about any tv show, but Lost is different and plays a lot on the concept of isolation and mystery. Even Desmond's beginnings on the island might give away too much this early in the second season.
theemonopolyguy 10-04-2005, 10:16 PM He is a cool character. I agree with timdorr, it think that he knows all about the island and when he comes out of his hole in the ground, the "others" find him and either keep him hostage, or kill him because he knows the secrets of the island. vbmenu_register("postmenu_515246", true);
theemonopolyguy 10-04-2005, 10:24 PM ]I think Desmond is going to disappear after this episode because the previews for this episode show the computer getting shot out, and Desmond saying, "We're all going to die!" and running away into the forest

If you remember, in the episod were it shows further detal of the "hatch", he asked Lock if he had caught any daseses. He seemed to me like those people who don't leave there houses because there afraid of like everything, and so when the computer gets shot, he screams "We're all going to die!" because he relied on the computer for survival. I also think if he does go out in the jungle, he will ethier die because it seems like he hasn't been outside in years, or get captured by "The Others"
ilgandy 10-05-2005, 06:27 PM In a commercial I watched they showed Desmond running around in the jungle, so he must get out of the hatch somehow. If this is his last episode then I'm thinking he either gets killed (self inflicted or by a lostaway) or runs into the juingle and leaves Jack and Co. behind. I'm pretty sure that the hatch will become a major part of the show just like the caves and beach are.
elfdream 10-05-2005, 06:36 PM Maybe he gets the 'sickness'...and passes away right before their eyes.
I just hope he answers some questions first!
Seriously I like him. Hope that if he leaves he's not gone for good.
