The logo that has been popping up everwhere looks as though it says DHARMA on it, right? I don't think this is actually what it says though... Notice that the R is backwards. This is the russian letter that is pronounced 'ya'. If you then go ahead and look at the rest as Russian, it turns out to be two 3 letter words that are pronouced: "dna yama" and mean "bottom of the pit/hole".
In Russian/Cyrillic:
D=D
H=N
A=A
backwards R=YA
M=M
A=A

Dharma is the teaching of the Buddha. Though the general meaning of dharma is phenomenon, the term most frequently refers to the Holy Dharma, profound manifestation, and the path that leads all beings to liberation from suffering-to enlightenment.

Thanks buzmeg. I had this itching feeling that it was related to Buddhism but I couldn't quite place my finger on it. Interesting. I think they're all trying to escape from the sufferings of their past lives into some place more enlightened.

of course that is what Dharma is; however, is anything in this show what it seems? It is too much of a coincidence that the text on the logo translates to "bottom of the pit", don't you think?

I know, I keep repeating myself, but I LOVE all your theories. It is funny: Even though I know that 99 % of them are probably going to turn out to be wrong, there is still so much to LEARN from all the things you dig up that it simply adds to the fun of watching LOST. :) Thank you for that.
I am sure even the makers of LOST love to check in on the theories and find that it is fun to read them if only for learning's sake. ;) Who knows, maybe the eventual solution for everything is going to turn out to be not even half as original as some of the things you guys have come up with. :biggrin: You have certainly raised the bar for our LOST writers, I think. *g*
Think about it: We have so far dug into Astrology, Numerology, Buddhism, Medicine, Nautism, Sociology, Law, different languages, Einstein's theory of Relativity and a thousand and one other fields. I think that's great. It truly is.
The reason I mention it? Because it means that this show is what it is because of the writers, the producers, the cast and the crew. But it also is what it is because of all of YOU. *huggles Fuselage* :)
