Hiya =)
I am a 17-year old male senior in high school. I just recently became an obsessed fan of Lost (it tends to do that to you lol). I have alwayas leaned towards math and science and planned to major in some kind of engineering (probably biomedical). However, when I was watching the bonus features on Disc 7 of the Season 1 DVDs, I became overwhelmingly interested in what goes on "behind the scenes". At first I thought this was just a spontaneous curiosity, but I began researching production/director of photography posistions; both seem to be great careers.
My big issue with majoring in film/TV production is its feasibility. I realize that most posistions in the industry are exclusive-most depend upon your connections and some luck(from what I have heard).
So, my questions are:
If I do decide to major in it, does it work the same as normal jobs? Graduate, apply to a network or production company, interview, something like that? Or do I have to prove that I am good/become well known through an indedpendent movie etc?
Furthermore, is there anyway you could sum up how you started out please?
I realize that you are busy and may not be able to respond, but this is been bothering me recently.
Thank you for the help!!
