All last season I was wondering why the emergency rafts in the plane were not used, questioned, talked about. I would have thought that Sayid would have wanted the transponder from the rafts that activate when the raft is opened.

Also, keys seem to be missing. I would think that most men on a plane would have keys in their pockets. It seems that they wouldn't have much use on an island, but they can be used for poking, sawing, etc.

Really a great show - can't wait for each new episode.

hey there -

to answer your questions...those rafts were meant to be used in a water-landing. as you know, the plane basically blew apart mid-air and crash landed. so the rafts were lost in the ocean and the transponders were destroyed with them. good logic question though.

and as far as the keys go...we're only following a small section of all the survivors. i'm sure the other people on the island are using their keys as tools. good idea!

thanks for writing.

Thanks for the answer. I'm not a plane expert, but fly on a lot of them and sit in the exit rows when possible. Rafts are built in the doors of the plane. I don't remember what the mid section looked like that was left on the beach, so can't say that a door and therefore raft should have been intact there. However, the front section with the pilot and first class is normally where people enter a plane throught the main door. Since I don't sit in first class, I don't know for sure, but would think that a raft would be in that door that appeared to survive the crash.

Anyhow, was just hoping to hear Sayid or someone say, "Darn, if only the rafts survived the crash" or something like that.

Still a great show - my family watches it every Wednesday. Last week my 8 year old had to hide her eyes a few times (When broken leg was shown and when Goodwin gets it). Hopefully she can still watch it with us in the future and it won't get too graphic (bodily and sexually).

Keep up the good work.
