View Full Version : Another Entrance to the Hatch
nesta411 10-05-2005, 12:27 PM Did anyone else catch the end of 2.1 where Jack is checking out the hatch? It appeared to show some buckets that has something like concrete that had been mixed in it and it also appeared to show another entrance that desmond had sealed up. So this is my theory......................... the explosion we hear at the beginning of 2.1 is at a different time than when Jack and them blow open the hatch. so... desmond hears a bang (possibly the plane crash or maybe something esle) and goes into crisis mode. during this time he seals the other entrance as spoken about earlier and waits. reasons why i think this. first, the differences in the hatch during the beginning of 2.1 and when locke is in there in 2.2 ( is it clean in 2.1 but looks very dissheveled in 2.2). second, when locke tells desmond that they have been there for 44 days it seems as if that means something to him (i.e. maybe thats when the first explosion he hears in beginning of 2.1 and since that time he has been on alert). third desmond looks like hes been on edge for sometime rather than just a couple of hours. ( he has a hard time coming up with his name when locke asks him.) so just some thoughts. add to my ideas or disprove them but just PLEASE give me some ideas. I CANT WAIT FOR TONIGHT!!!!!!
timberho27 10-05-2005, 12:31 PM i think your ideas are wrong :( you'd be on edge too if you had to reset a counter every 100 minutes, and all of a sudden had people just show up in your hatch. remember how suprised he was to hear that the outside world still existed, you'd be shaken up too if you were him.
I think it does sound good!
However, I think everybody is putting too much into the fact that he is all sweaty. Think about it, he could assume Locke, Kate and Jack carry the sickness and he is simply scared to catch it. Also, if you haven’t seen people in a long time you might get all nervous seeing some again, especially when you don’t know what they are up to.
BTW, did he work out before or after he showered?
theillestmc12 10-05-2005, 12:42 PM dude its the same time..remeber in eps 2 he went back and fixed the cd player..it played the same song and same duration..so its the same timeline (when they blew up the hatch and when desmond was working out in eps1
JAZZYJ 10-05-2005, 12:43 PM I think there is another entrace, we just havn't seen it yet.
nesta411 10-05-2005, 12:51 PM just because the same record is playing doesnt mean anything. if hes been on alert for the last 44 days than he really wouldnt pay much attention to it..... or it could be that that song playing is some sort of sign or clue.... and yes it appears there was another entrance. if you go back to ep 2.1 you can tell that there was an entrance that was sealed up with concrete. you can see the wall and the buckets that were used to mix it cause there is still hardened concrete in them
timberho27 10-05-2005, 12:55 PM i'm sure there was a 2nd entrance as well, some of the stuff down there was too big to get put in by that little opening. there is a massive underground piping system in there as well, i'd guess there are diff tunnels going out from his little living area to different entrances. Lets not forget, the hatch was buried when they found it, there could be a bunch more just like it, or even a larger entrance into this underground area. I just don't agree that the explosion was something else, i think it's quite obvious with desmonds reaction than showing the 3 looking down the hatch that that is exactly what happened.
Baileysdad 10-05-2005, 01:04 PM I think another entrance is underwater. Ethan came from the ocean to kill Scott, the expert swimmer disappeared without a trace and the boat the Others were in was way to small to be out that far to sea. Maybe this island is a big floating fortress.

OR, is it every 108 hours...or Days? Playing with time is a tricky thing...and their time(the island) does not in any way relate to ours.

This is over in the Adrift thread on this board.. I'd highly suggest reading through it.. your head will spin LOL! :dizzy:

Dr.Funbags 10-05-2005, 01:34 PM Its every 10800 seconds = 180 minutes = 3 hours.
Turnip Head 10-05-2005, 01:37 PM I agree that time is an issue on the island. When Locke meets Desmond in the hatch, Desmond asks how long have you been on the island? Locke replies "44 days". Desmond then says something like "in your time".
The 1st season is supposed to represent 40 days. They opened the hatch on the 40th day. Locke and Kate went down it that same night. Why did Locke say 44 days then?
Bradislost 10-05-2005, 01:39 PM I think there most be another enterance.... How else could
Hurley get in the hatch

By the Way.... Brilliant Observation TurnipHead. I never put 2 and 2 together.
Turnip Head 10-05-2005, 01:47 PM Getting off the subject a bit...
I think that the whispers are the voices of dead people...
Think about it! Who are the only people to have heard them? Shannon, Sayid and Sawyer.
Shannons whispers could be boone trying to communicate
Sawyer has killed as well as Sayid. Could be the dead haunting them.
...And we can't forget Danielle. She killed her whole crew.

There has been much discussion as to how much time has really past on the island, but if you follow the diary at the ABC boards, Locke is right. The diary says that the explosion occured on the evening of the 43rd night, but if Locke went down the hatch after midnight, he may consider it 44 days. http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/diary/90434.html
Now the writer's have said that the diary is not cannon, but I don't think they said anywhere that it has only been 40 days either. From what I've read, and I may be wrong, they've said that it has been around 40 days. I don't have the links, but there were many discussion about this at the end of last season.
Turnip Head 10-05-2005, 02:12 PM If you go to http://www.oceanicflight815.com/ under the "INFO" Synopsis" section it says that it's 40 days. This is the Lost official website
Bradislost 10-05-2005, 02:24 PM It sure does!! So what happened to the 4 days??
where does desmond gets his fresh fruits?
Baileysdad 10-05-2005, 04:27 PM It sure does!! So what happened to the 4 days??
Four seems to play a huge part in this show...Locke was crippled four years ago...Sam Toomy died four years ago...allegedly Jack met Desmond four years ago..the number "4" is of course highlighted...they built a golf course FORE! Okay..that was a stretch but I think it is all apart of the numbers.

Question for you - when you buy a cd for your collection - do you listen to the song you like only once? All I am saying is keep an open mind. With this show, anything is possible.
JAZZYJ 10-05-2005, 05:26 PM With this show, anything is possible.
Ain't that the truf, I can't wait.
nesta411 10-05-2005, 05:32 PM jack met desmond more than four years ago. he met him sometime around 1997. the reason we know this is because it says 1997 on jacks hospital id card. so i guess no one has seen the wall in the hatch that seems to have been an entrance/exit and the buckets of what looks to have had concrete mixed in them?
nesta411 10-05-2005, 05:33 PM and t he fruit was not fresh. im guessing it was canned.

No, Do you have a screen shot?
nesta411 10-05-2005, 05:37 PM i dont have a screen shot but if you go back to ep. 2.1 it is during one of the flashbacks of jacks. i think it is either the time he tells sarah he can fix her or afere the surgery when he realizes that she has been fixed
JAZZYJ 10-05-2005, 05:45 PM Somebody help here, need a little screen shot...
PhillyGirl2873 10-05-2005, 05:46 PM I'm trying to find a link to the screen shot website. Do remember the address of where where all the screen shots come from?
JAZZYJ 10-05-2005, 05:54 PM I ussually look at them on lost-media.com just becuase I like the way you can get a huge close up of everthing.
PhillyGirl2873 10-05-2005, 06:03 PM Are you sure you didn't just see these? http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=648&pos=439It's kind of dark. I searched the screen caps and didn't find anything, but maybe you could look.

Elf-lady 10-05-2005, 08:53 PM where does desmond gets his fresh fruits?
They seemed like frozen fruits to me; in the blender, you mean?
timberho27 10-05-2005, 09:34 PM there were definetly buckets, not the paint canisters in that ss
heroin 10-05-2005, 10:32 PM I thought they were the cement buckets for blocking up that door.
PhillyGirl2873 10-06-2005, 08:34 AM OK, I saw them in the recap last night when Jack walked past. They looked like 5 gallon paint cans. But I guess the point is mote now that we know there is another exit/entrance to the hatch.
Elf-lady 10-09-2005, 06:12 PM Not necessarily a moot point: what's behind the cemented-up door? Is that where Desmond stashed Kelvin's body when he died? Is there something in there regarding the "incident"?
