I was on another thread and John_Locke suggested this idea of a petition to get TPTB (the powers that be) to keep Desmond on the show. So, I decided to follow up with it and post it here in his section. :smile:

Read the petition (below). If you agree with it, then list your YES in a reply post. PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE THIS POST in your reply, that takes up too much room and isn't needed.

I could have done a poll but I like this "petition signing" idea much more.

We, the under-posted, do hereby request that the character of "DESMOND" not be killed off, deported or in any other way removed permanently from the show "LOST" AND that no other actor play this role besides the current actor, HENRY IAN CUSICK. This petition is not asking that "DESMOND" be in every episode of the show (although acknowledging that that would be nice) but that he NOT be deleted completely so that, as the need may arise, "Desmond" can be brought back to the show for more scenes.

We, the under-posted, do hereby make it known that WE LOVE THE CHARACTER OF DESMOND, PLAYED BY HENRY IAN CUSICK and DO NOT WANT THE ROLE TERMINATED.

We beseech you, TPTB ... "LONG LIVE DESMOND!"

That's surely a possibility but they might like the feedback and make a change if they find the character is really popular. I enjoy the character and would like to see him pop up again. I wouldn't constrain the writers to never kill him off, though. First and foremost, they have to do what makes story sense.

Yes, bear signs up! Desmond is a great character- there is so much more we need to know about him - he adds yet another degree of mystery to Lost. Have posted elsewhere I see both Desmond and Danielle as wonderful characters that can show up, interact with the castaways and give little pieces of the answer to the island mystery then disappear until needed again. This would be a great plot device to move the story along - just a piece at a time. Agree as much as I love Desmond I'm not suggesting he be in every episode but just enough that we fans can get our fix. Anticipation! :wink1:

More the merrier, and I'd love to see more scenes with Desmond Jack and Locke.

Writing Desmond off "Lost" would be a huge mistake! He is an awesome character! The last episode just wasn't the same without him. I have been a fan of "Lost" since the first season. I am not one to become addicted to a television show, but I can't stop watching. It is absolutely fascinating because you never know what will happen next. Desmond adds much mystery and intrigue to the plot and I want to see more of him!

I'm sure with the great response to the character of Desmond (not to mention the actor) the creative folks will want to bring him back.... but who knows they may have planned his return all along? Everyone's sworn to secrecy on this project. The eps we await could already be filmed!

This thread is the reason I registered. I am not real big on message boards, but this is Desmond we are talking about! We may have only seen him in a few episodes, but he is my favorite character.

Matthew748, I'm finding that a lot of people have joined just to add their names to the petition and that is so wonderful! Many, too, have made this thread their first post. Ian appreciates it and is thrilled by all of the support.
