Part 1 recap - Don't read if you don't want to know!!!

“Previously on Lost”

Desmond and Jack at the stadium. Desmond says he is training for a race around the world.

Jack in the hatch. His necklace is attracted to the magnet.

Stand-off between him and Desmond after we see the scene with the numbers and Locke at the computer again.



Part 1:

The boys land on the beach again and Jin comes running out from the trees saying “Others.”
We see the first glimpse of the the Others. A huge African American guy comes up with a bat and slugs the two raft survivors. The Others drag all three of our guys in a net over to a pit and close them in. Michael screams “Where’s my boy?” and gets no answer.

In the hatch –
Desmond fires the gun. Jack asks Locke if this is what he was looking for.

Flashback -

Locke at a “sharing” meeting – AA? John is chuckling. Explains how he finds all their confessions so trivial. He says his birth mother found him a few years ago. Talks about how his real father got to know him long enough to take his kidney and drop him back in the real world and forgot about him. He’s pretty angry.

Outside the meeting he talks to the facilitator. Apologizes for ruining her meeting. The lady says she agrees with him about having to listen to all the people talk about their stupid stuff. They introduce each other. “I’m Helen.”

Back in the hatch –

Jack shouts, “Where’s Kate?”

Kate is getting through the vents. Finds a bunch of guns in a room? Hears the 3 in a stand-off outside and shoots to distract Desmond. Desmond falls down on the floor and Kate points the rifle at him. Desmond looks up and the computer is smoking.
Says, “Oh, What did you do? We’re all going to die.”

My advice - never trust Kate Sagal?

Does anyone know who is playing Helen?

Kelvin (?) brings Desmond down the hatch. Tells him he saved the world.

Locke: His word is all we have, Jack

Update Part 2:

Desmond says it’s a timer – it’s counting down. They ask what’s going to happen? Some typical Jack / Locke stuff. Desmond runs over to the computer and ...

Flashback to Locke and Helen:

Helen wakes up and asks where Locke is going after they have obviously been in bed together. He says it has nothing to do with her and he’ll call her. Locke is sitting in a car and an older guy - I guess he was the guy who conned him into thinking he was his father? - opens the passenger side door and sits down. He asks John why he drives by his house and watches. Says it’s annoying and what does he want?

John says, “Why?”

The older guy says there is no why. John needed a father figure. You got conned. Don’t come back; you’re not wanted. Locke breaks down.

In the hatch:

Desmond is frantically looking for something. Desmond asks if they can fix a computer. Kate suggests Sayid. She goes to get him. Leaves by the “front door” hatch.

Desmond talks about how he got there. Was on the race around the world. Calvin brings him down there. Said he typed in the code and it stops. “Saving the world” was what he says he is doing. Calvin died and now he’s there all alone.

Jack asks Locke if he’s going to take Desmond’s word for it. Desmond says they can watch the film in the pantry. Film is called “Orientation.”

Orientation is the name of a tape!

On the beach:

Hurley is throwing a stick, playing with the dog. Tells Sayid things are finally returning to normal. Kate runs up to get Sayid. Says we need help.

In the pit:

Sawyer is trying to ask Jin about the Others. They don’t know how many there are. Jin motions that he was blindfolded. Sawyer asks them to push him up. The cover is tied down and Sawyer can’t push it up. Someone knocks him down. Then the African guy throws someone else down. “It’s a girl.”

In the hatch:

Jack asking Locke what was going on before he got there. Jack says that Locke seems calm for someone who believes that the world is going to end in 45 minutes.

They run the film. Started with “The Dharma Initiative” and the Swan symboy. A strange film with a guy explaining how “you and your partner will run your station.” Tells some history of the initiative. Group pursues research in psychology, zoology, sociology, etc. Station 3 was originally a laboratory. Something about strange electro-magnetic stuff coming from this area. Every 43 minutes a code must be put into the computer. When alarm sounds the code must be input correctly and in a timely manner. Future of the project rests in your hands. Good luck.”

Locke, “We’re going to need to watch that again.” (lol)

Halfrek, I live in New Zealand, I have been following the live threads since first season and have enjoyed reading events as they happen. We will not be getting Season 2 until 2006 here, so for me the live threads are invaluable. I know that other people who cannot watch the episode straight away also enjoy reading them too.

Since when have we not been able to have a 'watching live' thread? there is no rule against it.
Are you a new mod or something bent on making a nmae for yourself? I feel a ban comin on but if this is the way you want to moderate then we can all go to another board and watch this one fail.:mad:

but that is besides the point. this site is undergoing changes. one of them is to stop
chit chat type posting. which clogs the boards. the other, that i am about to post
about is duplicate threads.

yes change is hard. yes i know you all did this last season, but with over 10,000 posters,
there needs to be some changes to make this site better in the long run.

Look... you may not like the rules but we do expect you follow them while here and to be polite to all. It has NEVER been about space but hundreds of people constantly hitting reload and new fluff posts over loading the server. We understand this is a popular thread hence why it wasn't locked 10 pages ago but we are asking that the posts be topicy and not things like "omg" and such.

OMG I am totally wigging over this episode. So so much on here. And the last 5 minutes were absolutely killer, not to mention the stunner in the preview at the end. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay...it's really sad we can't enjoy something we obviously enjoy. If there are rules, so be it. I don't understand when people are having a good time they have to stop. I can see chit chatty things being a problem if it happened all the time. I personally don't find chatty posts interesting most of the time. But during an episode it's exciting and fun. This is for one hour in each time zone once a week. Can't we all just get along?

What they should do, is to make it so that you can't post really short chit-chat posts. It now says that a post needs to have at least 5 characters whenever i type just one letter in the box and accidentally hit the "submit" button. It must be possible to change this, right? Maybe that would force people to write longer posts, as long as they don't write some nonsense to fill the quota... Just a thought.

Since I live alone, I must watch Lost alone. During the first season I enjoyed following this thread while watching the show. I enjoy reading everyone's comments, even if they are simple OMGs. (Why? Because I'm thinking the same thing myself). I don't post often. Right about now I don't exactly feel welcome. I'll have to rethink myself coming back here.

How exactly do you plan on stopping people from constantly hitting reload? No matter how posts are limited how many times people hit reload isn't in your power.

The relevance of the numbers for the computer is that when you add them all up (4 8 15 16 23 42), you get 108. That’s so interesting! I didn’t realize ‘til now. My opinion is either the timer is for a bomb, or it’s just some thing to mess with people’s minds. The former is more likely in my opinion.

you are correct. we cant actually stop people from hitting reload. however, the strain
comes from (for example this thread) with over 100 posters, hitting refresh and/or posting all at
the same time. constantly. to see who had what to say even if they are not posting themselves.

that is the problem and why chit chat type threads on monitored and closed if
it seems like too much chat going on.

The theory of course is if there isn't content (i.e. chit chat posts in a live thread) people won't hit reload and it'll save their servers from some load.

Of course, what they should do instead is understand they have a very good thing and allow an open comments thread on Wednesday nights for the show.

If the moderators insist on stopping this thread, I'll host an open comments thread on my site just for this purpose. If a few people enjoyed it, that would be good enough for me.

I've spent my entire career designing internet infrastructure. This isn't rocket science people. You've got a lot of people who are interested in the show and create more interest. An open thread only helps that. Use your heads.

It has NEVER been about space but hundreds of people constantly hitting reload and new fluff posts over loading the server. We understand this is a popular thread hence why it wasn't locked 10 pages ago but we are asking that the posts be topicy and not things like "omg" and such.

I understand where you are coming from, I just get frustrated since I can log on to this site during Lost but the next two hours after the show airs on the East Coast really hangs up my computer. I guess everyone is logging on at the same time. So, if I get to read messages during the show, I get to sleep on time (or somewhat so...)....

I usually only read messages... I only posted since I thought this thread was going to go away and that depressed me!

The thread isn't going anywhere. But as you probably have noticed, over 900 users and the site tends to slow down. Just trying to do our part to keep the site up and running for everyone which means sometimes cracking down on the non essential non topicy posts. So if everyone can help out a little and make their posts count (say save up 2-3 thoughts for a post instead of the "omg!!!" kind of thing), everyone will benefit. That is all we ask.
