They were quite adorable tonight. I'm glad my Jack love finally came around.

They were sweet and nervously fliratious and it was so good to see Jack smiling and laughing again...Snatching each others food and enjoying one another's company. I love these 2. :)

You should have ended the post with, "This is the worst ep evah! I'm never watching again!". Then, the circle would be complete. Hee.

I thought Kate loved Sawyer, though? That's why Jack's been holding back.

I thought the whole shower scene was forced, contrived, had little sexual tension and just didn't go anywhere.

Conversely, the scene where they were eating together looked like it was an already done deal and they had hooked up ages ago.

I loved how he checked out her butt as she walked away though, and how she told him he smelled. They'll get it on sooner or later!

He's not gay, he's a WUSS. Big difference.
Wusses run around w/6" deep (as per the script) gashes in their sides triaging a crash scene, run toward monsters, sit while dynamite is thrown in front of them, don't back down when guns are shot at them, swim against riptides, KO a guy that beat the crap out of him before, give someone almost all their blood & repel into dark hatches w/Quarantine on it

Nothing contrived and forced here imo. Just a sweet nervous moment that doesn't need blunt overt sexual innuendo & groping to imply some interest. I found it as refreshing as Kate's shower.

Oh I didn't. I thought it was adorable. They are SO 12 years old. :) Both sort of shy, fumbling but not really knowing how to end because they kind of don't want it to but they know it has to. Jack was checking her out and she knew it. ;)

And the eating scene was perfect. When they can get their heads out of all the other stuff, all the baggage and just be "them" who they are in their core selves--they are perfect together. They click like they've been together forever. THAT is exactly the sort of relationship that is meant to be. They just need to work to get past their baggage, baggage that has nothing to do with each other.

Wow, I loved the shower scene! I thought it was so natural and fully of blushing sexual chemistry, especially with her dropping her bra, lol. It was a nice bridge that showed how they are becoming more aware of each other physically and admitting to their attraction to each other :winkkiss: ...

And the dinner scene was just a great reminder of how close and comfortable they are with each other. *sigh* I love those two together so much!

I liked the shower scene. It was very much something that would happen with them. Kinda like the caves in HOTRS. She was dropping stuff. There was definitely some tension there.

Ok. We all know that Jack is going to get Kate in the end(it's whatever relationships before that point we don't know about). I've watched enough television in my time to know this much. Personally, I don't think they make a great couple. I'm sorry, but it takes a little effort to rob a bank, kill your first boyfriend, and lie like she has done. I think Jack is too good for her. But, like I said....I am confident they will end up together, so I might as well get used to the idea.

I just hope it doesn't go the way of melrose place and everyone has sex with everyone by the end of the series.

I don't think it's a matter of Jack being too good for her. Kate messed up big time but I think it was a matter of it being a snow ball effect. She just saw her end goal and didn't really think about just how bad the steps to get there. I don't think Kate's a bad person. I think she has a valiant heart and a kind spirit and I think that is exactly what Jack needs. And I think she needs the sort of dedication and loyalty and kindness that Jack has as well. They balance each other.

I've been rewatching the first season on DVD ad nauseam as I get more friends and family hooked on the show. What has become readily apparent to me is that when we first meet Jack, he has only recently lost his wife (presumably to death which I think he inadvertently caused or at least believes he did).

Every time Kate sends him the go-ahead signal (which is often) he backs off, guarding himself. It's very clear from his demeanor that his heart has recently been broken by a woman he loved and he's not at the point to make another attempt (when he fails, he doesn't have what it takes).

Given that and last week's scene in which he burst into tears talking about his wife, I'm thinking she died and he feels responsible. Up until seeing Desmond, he'd been way too busy being the good doctor to think about much else outside the island but the run in with Desmond brought it all back.

I totally agree with that. But I still think that it's going to be Jack/Ana Lucia and Kate/Sawyer first.

I agree with you too. We'll be teased a little bit first with relationships, but in the end Jack and Kate will be together.

As far as defending Kate's character....PLEASE. You don't do that much damage by having a good heart. Sure everyone makes mistakes....she's made some doozies, o.k. Hopefully, working to make a life on this island will keep her out of trouble :)

Ah but Kate is Sawyer's moral counterpart. He's killed in revenge, conned, used sex, & receives a lot of empathy for his wrong doings generally. I think Kate is held by a different standard because she's female & we have yet to see what made her turn to self preservation. She didn't kill Tom, & I have a strong suspicion she was sexually abused as a child..... It was selfish and risky to do those things to others to get away, but such is the nature of crime,it's self based. I think Kate as much as anyone is on the road to redemption because she is coming to care about ppl on the island & seeing what it means to put down roots. She's learning the value of putting others ahead of herself. It isn't hit us over the head yet, but there's been subtle signs like risking her life to go back for ppl when she was terrifed of the monster & acts of compassion toward ppl like Claire, Charlie etc.

I don't think Kate's a lost cause. She'll never fully be flaw free but who is...I think the whole point of Jack and Kate's first scene was to show how they see something in each other they don't believe they have themselves. And it will be transformative in a positive way for them both...Jack encourages her strength, and Kate gives him something he never had which is support & being told he did the best he could.

My sentiments exactly. But as my friend told me tonight, if I had my way, all episodes of Lost would only be available at the back of a video store behind a curtain.

Kate and Jack are both damaged souls. Jack has clearly had poor luck with women- marrying a woman who saw him as a hero and not a man, possibly because he felt obligated to marry her. They are no longer married- did she die? Cheat on him? Leave him? Did he leave or cheat on her? Any way you slice it, he is definitely gun shy. As for Kate, she caused the death of a man she had loved and lost already. Who knows what other problems they have had with life and love, but it is clear that they are emotionally stunted and are both cautious in their courtship...

Did anyone catch what Kate said to Jack about him smelling? I can't remember the exact words but didn't his wife Sarah mention his smell when she awoke from surgery? Maybe there's some deodarant down there for Jack:smile:

Don't know about you, but it looked like Jake didn't mind seeing what he saw. Dude just stayed, and Katie didn't tell him to leave. Realy feel that a love interest is brewing more now
