Technically, Jack was the "doctor of record" in both their deaths, but I wouldn't say he was "responsible" for them and I definitely wouldn't say there was any kind of "inaction" with his treatment of Boone.

I dont think we can say "Jack killed" anyone. They clearly said he stopped breathing at the scene, and that they simply couldnt being him back. I dont know that a surgeon could do anything at all for him at that point, especially considering any brain damage the guy was incurring from lack of oxygen.

Other than that tiny itty bitty walk on, there was no other Jack in this episode, was there? And no Kate either. That's gotta be a first.

Maybe they were just saying that in an attempt to save face. We know Jack had the option to work on him; however, we don't know whether or not he would have been successful. Yet if he was D.O.A. at the hospital I don't think the issure of who Jack would work on would have even come up.

I saw him myself...well, that's not exactly true. I felt a presence. That wig on his head has it's own power. It grabs your focus and won't let go.

I thought Jack was a neuro surgeon. Why would he be in charge of a multiple trauma, Shannon's dad, in the E.R.? The E.R. doc's run the "codes." Jack would have been called to the E.R. for a consultation to see Sara.

From what I can tell, he is a spinal surgeon. But the point it still perfect. He is a surgeon working in the ER (although that still isnt really stated. Just because hes in the ER at the time doesnt mean hes an ER doctor. He could simply be on call), and it sounded like Rutherford was a goner coming in to the ER.

Granted, that could be the doctor sugar coating it, but judging from his death in ep 1 this season, he died about 1 minute after they brought him in.

I just cant say he killed him or really had that much to do with his death because it sounds like he was a lost cause (and if he hadnt been breathing for that long, even worse).

Jack choosing to save Sarah over Adam Rutherford makes sense from a doctors point of view.
A young female in her late 20's or early 30's have a better chance for survival than a 57 year old man. Besides didnt the EMT guy indicate to Jack that Shannons dad almost was a goner ?
