The scene where Sawyer falls down, and Michael is helping him, reminded me of the scene between Sawyer and Jack in "Confidence Man", after Sawyer was stabbed. The dialogue was very similar, too. Just pointing that out.

No, you are right on the money, my fellow Floridian!! (Great minds!)

It was very much like the scene between Jack and Sawyer in Confidence Man! Down to the same line!

It's just Sawyer's typical way of pushing those who love him away so he doesn't get hurt. This time, however, I think Michael finally realized that that's what Sawyer is doing. The facial expressions on Sawyer's face reminded me of another episode of Jack and Sawyer and that's the Outlaw episode. So many words were exchanged between Sawyer and Michael without saying them. It was basically Sawyer saying to Michael - "I know I've been a jerk, but I'm glad you are my friend".

Don't worry, I thought the exact same thing! And I think GettinLost is right, it's Sawyer's oddball way of pushing away people.

I don't think Sawyer knows how to react to ppl who care about him and finds it safer (for self preservation) to keep ppl from getting to close. With what happened when he was a child with his parents and Mr. Sawyer and then being a confidence man himself as an adult he really hasn't seen much in the way of trusting relationships.

Speaking of Falling down. When Shannon fell in the mud, just before Sayid reveals his love, he waved his arms really funnily and I couldn't help but laughing.
