View Full Version : So glad it was her.
Lockerox 11-10-2005, 12:29 AM I knew, once they started trying to make Shannon likeable that she would be the one to go. I didn't fall for it. I still don't like her. Yeah, it's too bad that evil stepmother stole her inheritance, but Boone offered to help her and she threw it back in his face. Then later she cons it out of him. Now we're supposed to feel sorry for her and like her? Nope. Buh bye whiner!
Aurora10 11-10-2005, 12:37 AM Of course we're suppose to feel sorry for her. She DID change. Believe me, I didn't like her at first.
This thread shouldn't be here. It should be in Shannon's "I'm Just Not That Into You" thread since you're cutting her down.
ineverknow 11-10-2005, 12:42 AM I knew that was coming, but I'm still quite upset that she was the one to go!!! I mean, she was the way she was cause no one really believed that she could take care of herself, so it just went to her head and that's why she was so messed up, but she was changing for the better and they did that!!
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 01:02 AM I liked Shannon. I hated her in the beginning. But now I really like her. I like her more than Claire.
Utopian Prototype Hatch Member 11-10-2005, 01:06 AM O knew in April 2005 that Maggie Grace got fired for breach of contract, I think it is great credit to the producers and writers that they didnt let their personal feelings for maggie ruin the character or the ensemble. I thought it showed class that they left her as an "abandoned" financially teen rather than some spoiled brat rich bithc. her stepmother seemed the villian and the writers could have made maggie a villian (mad at her for the breach of contract so mad they fired her) instead opted for a touch of class. awesome.
boredmale 11-10-2005, 01:06 AM personally i didn't care for her, but the killing was pointless. Hopefully the story writers can find some way int he next few episodes to make the killing advance the plot.
Beyond that maybe they can change the plot to one that the people on the Island start killing eachother off 1 by 1 till one winner is left, and they then get to leave the island.

So you didn't see the huge BETRAYAL she endured from her stepmother AND Boone? Her big chance at starting a life for herself was in New York - where Boone was living. Stepmother knew this and offered Boone a job to get him back in California, leaving Shannon up a creek without a paddle. Boone accepted the job, knowing this would kill any chance Shannon had at getting to New York & having a place to stay.
He chose the "good paying job" - he chose the MONEY over his sister. THAT'S why she was pissed. He basically said to her that the money was more important. He would rather have the money and screw Shannon over and then hopefully try and make it up to her later. His "rescues" later in their relationship were completely based on guilt over what he'd done.
"Abandoned" was a truly proper title for this episode.

Boone owned Shannon nothing, it was nice of him to offer her a bunch of cash. Why should he screw his career for her.
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 01:16 AM Boone didn't know Shannon wanted to crash at his place. He thought his mom would say yes to him so he could give Shannon the money. It wasn't Boone's fault. Although I would not want to work for a mother like that! HAHA
TropicalBear 11-10-2005, 01:18 AM I think that Boone reacted like a normal person would, its not pretty, but thats human nature, In the long run he thought it would be better for him to not let her moooch off him for maybe a year or more. It seemed to me that if she couldn't make her own money before there is nothing to say she would've made it in New York. Plus who's to say Boone even knew about this whole money thing when he accepted the job.
SomethingsUpWithJack 11-10-2005, 01:30 AM All I know is that I quit watching 24 because Kim, the character who inevitably made the dumbest possible decisions, never got killed. I am glad that they redeemed Shannon in the end but I think if she hadn't been killed off, her character would have remained the stuck-up ignorant little twit that she always has been. Boone's tragedy was that he was in love with someone he couldn't have and he couldn't get past it. Shannon's tragedy was that she was too busy listening to the bad voices in her head and complaining to hear anything positive anyone ever said to her. Stuck up little twits rarely have listening skills. Even Walt was trying to shut her up with the shhh hand gesture and warn her, but she ignored all warnings as usual and ended up dead. I could have told you that she was going to run to her death with people (Walt and Sayid as it turned out) warning her against it. And with everything we know about Shannon, she probably did or would have screwed up the internship too. Martha Graham's dance company wouldn't have put up with her brand of moron for long.

Gee i thought this thread was for discussing what happened in this episode. And Shannon got shot in this episode, so therefore this is where it belongs. And, wow, it seems like a lot of people are jumping to her defense. Maybe you forgot that the way Shannon "makes it" is by using other people. I didn't see her changing in that regard. She Charlie to get her a fish. She tried to use Sayid to "do something" about Locke. So what exactly makes anyone think that she was really changing? Just curious.
SomethingsUpWithJack 11-10-2005, 02:02 AM She really was the "Scrappy-Doo" of the cast.
uhohlisa 11-10-2005, 02:18 AM i don't really know why people make these posts. you're happy it was her, and she was my second-favorite female character. i knew it was going to be her, but i'm still really sad. there's a lot about her they didn't explain.

not to be defensive but oh man... you might want to take a step back, take a breath, and put it all into perspective.
you're talking about her like she stole your man/woman :P
EyeAmLost 11-10-2005, 02:29 AM oh boy, here we go again.
some people take things toooooo serious. it's a show and there's no need to get homicidal. i liked shannon from the beginning and the end. yes it was sad to see her die. or did she???
i think she's hot!

We make these posts because this is a board for discussing the show. Shannon's death (or not) is part of the show. Why do you make your posts?
Skeezer 11-10-2005, 12:34 PM What I don't understand is why Shannon, why now, what purpose does it serve. Here the writers give us this great backstory and finally we see why Shannon has turned out the way she is. I, like many others didn't like Shannon, but I thought her charachter was perfect for the show she serves a purpose like Sawyer someone amongst the regulars that polarizes the viewers. Let's face it every one of the fusies has given us a reason to dislike them and it isn't until we begin to understand their complexities that we can develop an appreciation for the role they play in the ensemble. Plus Maggie Grace is hot what more reason do you need to keep her on the show? I propose that it is not to late the writers should be able to reverse this decsion I'll let it the commercials slide, someone doesn't have be "lost forever" take it back and I'll look the other way no questions asked.
cramorse 11-10-2005, 01:06 PM I agree that if someone had to go, it might as well have been Shannon. Losing Sawyer would have been a disaster.
God's tom 11-10-2005, 01:21 PM oh boy, here we go again.

Yes - it's just a show. Some are glad that the character is gone. I personally didn't care for MG. I saw her in "The fog," & she just seemed to play a variation on Shannon. It made
me groan to think she was actually considered for the role of Kitty Pryde in X3. She was SO wrong for that part!

uphm: I never heard that one before. Without revealing contractual info on any other characters (that would be considered a spoiler) could you please elaborate? How did she breach her contract?
Thanks.
