First of all, the odd, unrecognizable language Walt seems to be speaking is so freaking creepy.
I, like every one does, was talking to some friends about the episode right after it aired, and we all found it really interesting that the whispers and Walt were pretty much what led to the demise of Shannon... I mean, without either one, Shannon would still be alive... maybe these smart others are creepily being "mischevious" (sheesh, that's disturbing) and trying to pit the Losties against each other.
Thoughts?

I dunno. But I know When Shannon saw Walt in the tent thing. He said "They are coming, and they are close." So I am assuming, the others are close. Creepy.

it was " they're* coming and they're close..."
The first "they're" is just probable and not definate as it is almost totally blanketed by Shannon screaming.

What if, when Walt told Shannon "they're coming...they're close" he didn't mean the Others, but he really meant the tail-section survivors?

Same thing I've been asking since I found out what he said. Who is to say he was referring to "the others".

Could it be that Shannon was seeing her "visions" of Walt in the tent, but that the REAL Walt popped out of the jungle and said "shhhhhh", then ran off? Seems like Sayid saw Walt before Shannon ran after him into the jungle. Up till then, only Shannon saw the wet visitor!

I know that the whispers have been heard before but last night they were the creepiest and the loudest they have ever been.
Fast Fwrd - I do think that there might be something to your idea that the "Others" are mischievous and trying to pit the Lostaways against each other. It's an interesting idea. If it's true - I think they're doing a great job!
