View Full Version : Shannon's story
DaNay4422 11-10-2005, 02:06 AM Now, I know that they killed Boone because his death would greatly affect where the story was going, and also because he didn't have much more of a backstory to be revealed, but what about Shannon? We never found out how she became more manipulative, or how she ended up marrying a french guy, and why she's not married anymore. I think there is a bit more that we could learn about Shannon's character. Also, Shannon still being alive allowed us another chance to see Boone again. But now that she is gone, we'll probably never see him again. And there's not anyone else to have flashbacks involving Shannon either, so I think we probably won't be seeing any more of either of them unless they show more flashbacks of the airport or the plane later on. I'm frustrated that the Boone and Shannon storylines have been cut so short.
Superman 11-10-2005, 02:09 AM i agree with you... there was a lot of potential with Shann's character and there is still a lot to be explored with her in terms of her backstory as well as her development on the island... it just seems wrong to have a brother and sister's death so close together

OR maybe they knew a tailender. and the plot thickens. ;)
torb28 11-10-2005, 03:03 AM I forgot that Shannon was married. Wonder why they are not showing that story before killing her off? I agree 100% with all the comments. Too bad this death was so lame.
BurningStar4 11-10-2005, 03:46 AM I also think the storyline was cut too short, really a downer :( It makes me mad that we'll never see more of the storyline, I wanted to see how she gradually became more mainpulative too.
miss emme 11-10-2005, 03:57 AM Same here l agree, l think it was cut way to short. Everyone elses character had more than one flashback to fill in the blanks. With Shannon we saw her in Boones flashback as a manipulative b***h then tonight she was a sweet naive young girl. Whats in the middle?
snausage 11-10-2005, 04:50 AM Agree to all of these comments. Also, I want to know what happened to her mother? So much potential with this character and they threw it away. What a shame. Poor writing IMO.
hellotzp 11-10-2005, 05:03 AM i totally agree. it seems like the death was just for the shock effect. too bad.
jocko 11-10-2005, 05:50 AM I soooo wanted to see Shannon find out about Jack's involvement in her father's death. now that woulda been some fireworks! And after this episode I soooo wanted to see Sabrina the wicked stepmother get whats due her too. oh well.
iamicarus 11-10-2005, 06:02 AM I can't believe how much
I couldn't stand Shannon and now I feel soooo much compassion for her.....wow!!!! Cudos to the writers....I am with you!
Not the Girl I Think I am 11-10-2005, 08:29 AM This is exactly what I thought after last night's episode. There's this big, gaping plot hole now, because both Boone and Shannon are "dead". I suppose there's always the possibility that we've been misled, but I doubt it.
Then it got me to thinking about some of the other characters. We've seen Locke before the wheelchair and after. Does this mean we'll never find out exactly what happened to him?
I thought maybe I was just dense or something, and just not making the jump to figure out for myself how Shannon came to be the way she was in her season 1 flashback. She wasn't even one of my favorite characters, then tonight they show this fabulous backstory, I come to really appreciate her character, and *BOOM* she's dead. I'll give the creators a "bye" on this one, but if the trend continues that we are sucked as an audience into investing in these characters and their backstories, only to have them offed before their stories are really finished, it's gonna be detrimental to the show. People aren't going to care about these characters anymore.
With all the leaks that come out about the show. I really held out hope that maybe TPTB were messing with us and that perhaps once they realized all the info that got out, that they'd change up the whole story and surprise us all by doing something completely different. Oh well.

I agree with everyone too. It seems to me that we were misled. So much potential with Shannon and Boone's story and now they are gone. I also think that it is going to be detrimental to the show. I am very mad about this. Sure maybe Maggie wanted out, but seeing Boone there and I expected more. What a farce.
Laurieg 11-10-2005, 08:40 AM I thought getting screwed over by her step mother was reason enough for her to become manipulative. She more or less had to, so she could continue to live the life style she was use to.
At some point the need for revenge set in. which is how Boone ended up in Austraila with her. She was trying her best to get money out of him. Money that she feels is hers to begin with.
BUT I do hate the fact that they may have killed her off so soon.
Get_LOST_17 11-10-2005, 08:42 AM I don't think Shannon is going to die.... A gut shot isn't typically a death wound. I think her and Sawyer will just be out of comission for a while... don't forget the one girl disappeared in the woods so that could be toe one death.... there is just to much unsaid w/ Shannon to kill her now... I'll believe she's dead when I see it....
P.S... I love her character now :)~
lostindixie 11-10-2005, 08:50 AM Gut shots do a LOT of damage. She would probably not survive if it happened 15 minutes from a major hospital, let alone on the Island of Doom. She's a goner. Too bad , I liked Shannon
Shannon is a goner. A gut shot is bad. I also think as a Boone fan I expected him to be in more scenes and he was only in 2. Very few lines to say too. I am still reeling from Shannon's backstory.
lockemonster 11-10-2005, 10:30 AM We'll have to wait and see if she is dead.
I too forgot that she was married to a french guy. Did anyone notice the french guy who was trying to pick up the other ballet instructor? Asked her to be a au paire (sp?). If the story line is going to develop further from there how could she be dead?

She`s DEAD. Read the front page of the USA Today. It said Grace knew in the spring that she was being killed off. End of story.

It figures. Shannon is dead. So no more stories about Shannon or Boone. So much potential.
