View Full Version : I know many are delighted that......
Nay815 11-10-2005, 02:33 AM ....Shannon died, however, I am not one of them. Like her character or not, she was intriguing....unlike some characters that I could care less if I knew another thing about. (Michael) I, for one, was looking forward to more Shannon flashbacks.
Each time we saw Shannon reading last season it was a computer mag or a word puzzle of some kind. She was not the fool all deemed her to be and I for one hope she is not gone (yes, I know she was supposedly fired) and that it is Cindy that is "lost forever."
P.S. Why did the doctor lie to Shannon and that witch of a stepmother? He told them her father stopped breathing at the accident site and could not be revived. Wrong! He was breathing and alive in the hospital when Jack chose to work on Sarah, remember?
LockeLove 11-10-2005, 02:35 AM P.S. Why did the doctor lie to Shannon and that witch of a stepmother? He told them her father stopped breathing at the accident site and could not be revived. Wrong! He was breathing and alive in the hospital when Jack chose to work on Sarah, remember?
I guess it would make the hospital and the doctors look bad?
She was fired? I didn't know that. Great now there is NO hope that she's alive or gets help.
Quiksilver13oi 11-10-2005, 02:36 AM no!!! i refuse to believe it until its official!! they cannot kill off my favorite female character!! awww man!! comon!!!

I have read in numerous threads that she was fired for breach of contract......true or not, do not know but I WANT SHANNON BACK! Few enough female characters----need her for Sayid and replace a female character like Shannon with Ana Lucia?.......pa-leeeeeeeeeeze NO! Keep Ana Lucia *sigh* if you must but keep Shannon as well.
Dicey 11-10-2005, 02:41 AM Definately a hospital liability issue, and interesting when Jack would not cover for his own father in a liability investigation.
4EvrLOST 11-10-2005, 02:45 AM Where are those articles that say Maggie was fired? Can you provide links?
Tarrish 11-10-2005, 02:52 AM I'm not happy about her death. It was to soon, and she had so much potential.
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 02:55 AM I am not happy, she died. I liked Shannon, a lot. A lot better than Claire.

They were also told that he was hit head-on by an SUV but the man in the ER was driving an SUV. I still say the man in the ER was Locke and not Adam Rutherford. They got them mixed up when IDing the man to Jack. Besides, the man in the coffin looked nothing like the man in the ER.
I'm also sad that Shannon died. I really was getting like her character ... a lot! :crybaby:
Nay815 11-10-2005, 03:03 AM Nice to see others agreeing that liked Shannon
Logged on late and started with the first post now on page three. So many there seemed overjoyed that she was gone
I will have to go back and see that epi again, but I think, JBDean, that it was said that he ran head on into a SUV, could be mistaken though. I do recall that Sarah had a flat tire (blowout) that caused the accident in the first place.
BurningStar4 11-10-2005, 03:04 AM I'm really upset she died as well, I was crying like a baby at the end...
Dezdmona 11-10-2005, 03:09 AM I was not very impressed with her character, but I was definitely unimpressed with her death.
I was looking forward to some confrontation between Shannon and Ana Lucia.
But instead, Ana Lucia "appeared" to shoot her in her paranoia over the Others,
after the apparent abduction of Cindy.
I suppose it will be considered accident, and Ana will be forgiven by the group eventually considering the circumstances.
The flashbacks did make Shannon look more emotionally vunerable than I had previously imagined her to be.
She definitely had come off as a "princess" before it was shown how she was betrayed by her step-monster.
The girl had some serious emotional walls.
I'm sure we haven't seen the last of her - I suspect we will see her again in someone else's flashback's.
Nay815 11-10-2005, 03:09 AM Well, I for one, will not believe she is gone from the series until they have a burial scene!
The promo said "one character would be lost forever" or something to that effect....and Cindy, the stewardess is gone.......so, works for me.
LockeLove 11-10-2005, 03:10 AM Personally I didn't like her, but it makes me sad to lose one of our original characters. I don't like to see any of them go!
miss emme 11-10-2005, 03:10 AM I was bawling. It happened to fast they gave Shannon one flashback and then *poof* gone! Are we not going to see what happened to her in New York did she go? Not enough information.
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 03:14 AM I hope she still lives.... It looks like she got shot in the stomach. Maybe? There is still hope? :( Maybe , but not much.
CirceNona 11-10-2005, 03:19 AM This is an assumption, but I'm guessing she took the aupair job instead of her friend and that's how she ended up in France. She didn't want to take Boone's money, so she probably gave up on NY and wanted to show everyone she could support herself. Based on other info about her, I'd say something got screwed up in France and that's when Boone started having to rescue her all the time.
I must admit that when I first heard rumors of who was going to die I was kinda glad it was going to be Shannon, but after tonight I'm sad it was truly her. I knew exactly what happened before I watched, called my sis on the east coast since I was too impatient here in Hawaii, and even knowing what was going to happen I still cried. Damn writers they actually got us to care about her, then they go and kill her off....mean mean mean!
I hope she still lives.... It looks liek she got shot in the stomach. Maybe? Theer is still hope? :( Mayb , but not much.
Well, maybe if she was near a real hospital, yes. But stomach wounds are bad. Worse than the shrapnal that killed the Marshall in season one. Think of all the stuff that can...er, ...fall out. And infection (think of Sawyer and Marshall) is a big concern. So, Shannon may live for an episode or two, but in the end, it'd pretty much take a miracle for her to survive.
Then again, this is LOST, after all, and we've already seen one miracle, right? (Locke can walk!)
CirceNona 11-10-2005, 03:45 AM If there wasn't so much out of character knowledge about contracts talks etc, I could be more hopeful about in character miracles, to put it into dungeons and dragon terms LOL My husband is always fussing at all of us who play to keep out of character knowledge from interfering with in character play. There are times while watching Lost that I see it as a big DnD game...forgive me : )
the1carnut 11-10-2005, 03:50 AM It's not like MG died, they can hire her back for episodes ust like Boone.
What I don't get, is if they are all there for a reason, what was it? Neither of the characters did anything too significant.
the1carnut 11-10-2005, 03:51 AM MY "J" key is sticky, so many of my posts are missing them.
CirceNona 11-10-2005, 03:52 AM But did they fulfill whatever it was they were seeking? Boone needed to help and feel useful, he did that with Locke and died happy so to speak. Shannon found someone to believe in her in the end.
Nay815 11-10-2005, 03:54 AM MY "J" key is sticky, so many of my posts are missing them.
 Did ya try cleaning the keyboard?
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 03:54 AM So they both died,a bit happier. Lol. Although Shannon did not DIE yet. There is still hope I tell you!
piscescat 11-10-2005, 04:02 AM Shannon wasn't one of my favorites, but I was caught up in tonight's story and then was really surprised by the last few minutes. I sat open-mouthed all through the promos, etc., until "Invasion" started and then I let the tears flow. If ya gotta go, go out in style! Did you notice the evil eye look Sayid had when looking at Ana-Lucia? There's gonna be some *** kicking in the near future! Or a bit of subtle revenge. Something.
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 04:05 AM He should whoop her ***!
BurningStar4 11-10-2005, 04:06 AM It's not like MG died, they can hire her back for episodes ust like Boone.
What I don't get, is if they are all there for a reason, what was it? Neither of the characters did anything too significant.
Their death alone can be significant in the long chain of life.
Boone's death provided the TRUTH about the hatch and eventually led to its uncovering.
Shannon's death(?) may provide us with something in the future that we don't know about yet.
Shannon also contributed into translating the french message and helped Sayid in some of the maps, so without that information, they may never have found or made friends with Danielle, and they never would of found the dynamite to open the hatch, etc., etc.
Without Boone Locke may not have found the hatch either, and like I said, without him dying may never have gotten it open to reveal the bigger mysteries the island had to offer.
Sometimes our lives are just pawns, and some of the small things we do lead to much bigger things...

Hmmmm, I didn't think about it from the fulfillment aspect. but isn't that ust a little too "Fantasy Island"?

I agree, Shannon wasn't a fav, but she was growing on me, and she had a lot of potential. :( I am just not a fan of killing off people on a show. I watch for enjoyment, and crying over the loss of a favorite character (yes, she wasn't mine, but one of mine may go) is not my idea of enjoyment. :( I don't think I'll ever vest myself in a show like this again, if they promise to do the same. :frown:
On the ***kicking note, I agree, Sayid will be looking for blood. He may just break that vow to not torture anyone again. :lol2:
I am not happy, she died. I liked Shannon, a lot. A lot better than Claire.
Yes, but that's not saying much!
LostFANatic91 11-10-2005, 04:48 AM True, Lol. But she was really, growing on me, a lot! I cried, maybe that is because I am a girl. But I don't usually cry.:frown:
the1carnut 11-10-2005, 05:06 AM I forgot she did all the translating. Maybe she was supposed to find Michael through Walt.
wildjinx 11-10-2005, 05:14 AM ....Shannon died, however, I am not one of them. Like her character or not, she was intriguing....unlike some characters that I could care less if I knew another thing about. (Michael) I, for one, was looking forward to more Shannon flashbacks.

Actually he wasn't breathing:
[A man is wheeled in on a gurney.]
EMT #2: Adam Rutherford, 57, chest trauma, no breath sounds.
And I too wish it hadn't been Shannon that was "next to go", but I'm still hoping she will recover ... I mean hey, if Locke can walk again, what else can the island do?
banshee 11-10-2005, 05:22 AM well I'm never happy to see the characters get killed off :( I didn't hate nor even dislike Shannon & found myself worrying for her the first time she appeared dead.
. Why did the doctor lie to Shannon and that witch of a stepmother? He told them her father stopped breathing at the accident site and could not be revived. Wrong! He was breathing and alive in the hospital when Jack chose to work on Sarah, remember?
As jinx said above he wasn't breathing, & he was brought in after Sarah. It was an impossible situation-Jack couldn't have possibly saved both because Sarah's BP was crashing. He had no time to intubate which isn't a guarantee for resuscitation. Thus 2 patients would have been lost over 1. Same with Joana/Boone.
More to the pnt is why an entire team of nurses & if not docs then residents/interns working on Mr. Rutherford in the ER couldn't perform a standard intubation.
Hekawi 11-10-2005, 05:23 AM I didn't like her at first, but the writers made me like her and now? I am going to be very disappointed if she's gone. They nicely developed a depth to her character, and revealed motivation for her, that I don't see in Kate's story.
Excellent writing, though!
