Ok, this may seem like a trivial thread (and it probably is... I'm posting this at 1:45am) but I just wanted to say it was awesome hearing the cliff climbing music in this episode! If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the same music that they played in the pilot pt. 2 episode when Sayid, Sawyer, Boon, Charlie, Shannon, and Kate are climbing to get to higher ground. It was also heard in Exodus pt. 2 when Sayid and Charlie were crossing over those rocks while chasing Danielle.
It made it's return tonight in Abandoned, when the tailies, Mike, and Jin were hoisting Sawyer up the cliff. It was a little slowed down, but still as awesome as always. This piece of music is so good, it makes me feel like I can take on the world!!!
I will be sure to let you all know next time this wonderfully awesome piece of music appears in another episode. :msn-wink:

I love the music, but when I heard it I thought it sounded like something from the Six Million Dollar Man.:dj::whistling

I loved that music too. As a matter of fact, I love all the music on this show, epecially the theme they play for Locke - that piece they played at the end of Walkabout when we see the wheelchair.
The hiking music kinda reminded me a little bit of the music from Seven Samurai - a variation of it at least - I think it was the cello. ;)
They've said they'll have a CD coming out soon - don't know what "soon" means to them though.

I was so excited when they started playing that music in this episode. I recorded it tonight and took it to my friends' dorm, and when it got to that part, I told them, "This is the same music that was played in episode 2 last season when they were climbing the cliff in an attempt to find a strong transceiver signal." They laughed at me.:ohwell:

I love having a show we can get this in to - the clues and mysteries, the characters, outside influences, . . . even the music. :)
They are just missin' out. ;)

Yeah... I'm sure if I were with my friends while watching it, they would have done the same to me. Who cares... that music rocks!!!!
They said on the official Lost podcast that there is a 30 piece orchestra that does the music for each episode. Here's a link to the official podcast (it's in the Nov. 8th one):

Yeah! I caught that too!! Even "cliff-climbing" gets it's own theme!! And out of the original cliff-climbers, Sawyer's the only one to make the trip up the cliff again!! (Even if he WAS carried!)

lol... you don't know how happy it makes me to know others get as excited about this as I did. I love, love, love that music and will buy the soundtrack instantly just for that if for no other reason. And I also picked up on the climbing motif thing going on. I should. I've spent the last three years compiling information on the thematic material used in a particular series of major motion pictures. :D

The next DVD really needs to have a segment devoted to the music and perhaps identify all the key themes. It's great to see a TV show reserve some killer themes for only a few key moments, like they did for Locke (that theme plays not just at the end of Walkabout but also at the end of DEM. And there's a slowed down version during his backstory on Orientation).
any other fave themes you all have?

I love the theme that played at the end of White Rabbit and Do No Harm and also plays in All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues and Exodus Part 2. It is the saddest and most beautiful theme I have heard on the show. I believe it is Lost's funeral type music (as it played when they thought Charlie died and when Boone died).
I also like the music that was played at the very end of Moth and was also played in Exodus Part 1 when Sawyer was telling Jack about his encounter with his dad (a scene that always brings me to tears by the way).
My all time favorite music though is still both of Locke's themes. I love his jungle motif and I certainly love the music that ended Walkabout and Dues Ex Machina and was also played oh so beautifully during Orientation.
I love Lost's music!!!!!!!!
