The reason Micheal even got Walt after his mother died, was because the kid totally creeped out his step father? The guy could not get Walt away from himself fast enough.
Walt had some sort of mental power before he ever crashed on the island.
So I'm thinking the Walt ,Shannon is seeing is a mental image he is projecting to her. Which is not working out perfectly, which may explain the backwards talking.
Why he choose to appear to Shannon over his father? I'm thinking he may think Michleal is dead after what happend on the raft. He did connect with Shannon when he left Vicennt in her care.
Anyone agree or disagree?

Walt's having "powers" is one of the biggest mysteries of the show, so I think yes, we remember that.

Well I've read alot of posts about Walt appearing to Shannon, but none of them ever mention the fact that it's known he has powers.

I remember that too. Didn't the polar bear appear too because it was in a book he had? I too think Walt has mental powers.

Everytime Walt appears, Vincent has taken off. There is some connection between Vincent and Walt as if Vincent allows Walt to manifest himself through him.

The coolest part of Walt's last "appearance" is that Sayid saw him, too...

yeh that is cool. It was impressive to see Sayid's reaction. I am glad that he witnessed that before Shannons (presumed) demise. I love that someone else is starting to be pulled into the mysteries of the island. And I am glad that it is a "reality" hardliner (someone who lives on reason moreso than anything else) like Sayid because that will really turn him inside out trying to wrangle with it. Sayid just got a MONSTER wake up call and in the most upsetting of ways!

I think Walt's step dad only tolerated him for his wife. He wasn't really into him,
and he didn't know how to handle him, and he was a bit afraid of him. His
interest in Walt ended when Walt's mom passed. So he was more than
ready to hand him back to his dad.
