...the Others snatching the kids from the tailees on the day the pillar of black smoke is visible? Danielle expected the Others to take Aaron from her. She said they would come for him when you see the black pillar. Maybe they were busy with the tailees' kids instead. Remember, Jack and Charlie thought she was crazy when they found her by the smoke pillar, but she might not have been crazy (at least about the kid snatchers)

We were all too busy thinking that Rousseau was nuts, and that she lit the bonfire herself, and that no-one was coming for Aaron at all, to even think that somewhere else on the island kids were being taken.

If the kids were taken the first night the smoke would be unrelated since it was several days post-crash the smoke occured.

They never specified. They said that three people were taken on the first night. Two weeks later, nine people.

That leaves an unnamed five people, Goodwin, and the five survivors we've already met.

I think there's a good chance that the kids were the last to be taken.

I was under the impression that Danielle herself started to fire, and that was why she thought they would come there to get the baby. Don't you remember when Charlie says something like, "You did all this?"

Guess we'll have to see when the kids are taken but that fire has to be either the Others or a signal fire the tailies lighted and may still have kept going in the hopes of rescue. Moniter it from a distance - out of sight of the Others.

I wonder if they'll show the radio conversation with Boone..."We're the survivors of Flight 815!!"

i think its possible, as long as the timing works out. i'm not sold that danielle lit the black smoke either. remember, the others dont leave footprints, as mr. eko pointed out.

the fact that the others walking through the jungle didnt have shoes but the ones on the boat did is also strange. and their connection should be a big issue.

Good point about the "no footprints"... I never thought about that. Has anyone ever noticed that when Charlie and Sayid found the black smoke, it looks like there are other islands or shapes in the water beyond the beach... maybe like a peninsula, but it looks like other islands to me.

yeah it looked like the water wasnt ocean but an inlet to a deeper "port" if you will on the island. whats across the water could be interesting as well.

I just thought of something else... In the pilot episode, Kate told Jack she saw smoke from up the valley, assuming it was the front of the plane... that was the first day. Obviously the front of the plane was not on fire, nor did it look like it had ever been on fire. Maybe that was our first foreshadowing of the others, when Kate says she sees smoke. Then, instead of getting our Losties, the Others go for the Tailies that night. Hmmmm...

That would be so incredibly clever if we were catching a glimpse of the Others within the first 20 minutes of the pilot episode!

Dont forget though, the black smoke did actually triggers the others to come or some others as the boat came that picked up Walt. Maybe she lit the fire thinking they would come for the baby but they came for Walt instead.

I've always thought that Danielle was the one who lit it, but why would they make such a big deal about there being no footprints if she was the one to light it? Theories...changing...every...moment...

yeah i see your point...its tough to get a reading on the timing in the final epi last year to determine when she was there, and when walt was wisked away

Does anyone remember (and I know someone will....:) ) how old Alex, Danielle's baby, was when it was taken? Was it an infant? or a little older? And did they ever say if it was a boy or a girl? (I am having a little trouble remembering key points, I think :frown: )

Danielle said she was only a week old... so she's 16 now. And Alex is a girl.

Although sometimes unreliable, IMDB said awhile back that the bearded man from the boat was going to be on this episode. Maybe as a "plant" like Ethan? Just a speculation.
