View Full Version : Length of "The Other 48 Days"
ForgedIrony 11-16-2005, 02:31 PM This is sort of a spoiler request...didn't know where else to put this...
Does anyone know how long "The Other 48 Days" is? It's advertised as an "extended episode", but the paper says "Invasion" begins at it's regular 10:00 time slot.
kingearl 11-16-2005, 02:33 PM 1 hr. and :05 minutes. Weird, eh?
Threzor 11-16-2005, 02:37 PM The length of the show itself is 1 hr. 5 min., but a 1 hr. TV show with commercials is technically 44 minutes. So it's probably 1 1/2 hours tonight. 66 min.
i_love_dmjgmfna 11-16-2005, 02:38 PM Wow, that's really extended...;)
OldWiz 11-16-2005, 02:41 PM My Tivo on DirecTV has it listed as 1:04 and Invasion starts recording at 10:04 PM EST. I guess its so full of wonderful revelations and such-like that they just couldn't bring themselves to cut 4 minutes. I wonder how that works? Do they cut 4 minutes from Invasion? Not that I'm complaining...

clelandearly 11-16-2005, 02:43 PM It's an hour and five minutes including the commercials.

Here (in California) TVguide.com shows it starting about 5 minutes EARLY and invasion coming on at it's normal time (10p)
Threzor 11-16-2005, 02:47 PM Then that's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of...
But hey, 4 more minutes of Lost, I'm not going to complain...
clelandearly 11-16-2005, 02:47 PM Invasion will be 55 minutes long including commercials. Invasion will probably be its standard length, but there will be fewer commercials (most of the ones cut will probably be house ads, promos). This is okay for ABC, because Lost has twice the ratings of Invasion. ABC is probably hoping that viewers will hang around and watch Invasion because the comptetitors CSI:NY and Law & Order will have already started when Lost ends.
1981k20 11-16-2005, 02:52 PM Here in Canada it says it's normal length. Also, the Canadian promo says nothing about it being extended. I think CTV (our network) is just cutting some commercials to get it in the time slot. Weird.
timdorr 11-16-2005, 02:55 PM Should be 1:08 just to mess with us :P
MerrierOne 11-16-2005, 03:10 PM It makes me wonder if no one was watching the GMA secret scene, so they just stuck it in anyway and went long.
notoriousaae 11-16-2005, 06:06 PM What WAS the secret scene, anyway? I can't be bothered to watch tv that early in the morning.
XxLostawayxX 11-16-2005, 06:09 PM yeah, what WAS the secret scene? does anybody have a summary, or better yet a link to a clip? I think its usually voodoo that we can count on for these kinds of things, but I havent heard whether or not voodoo has it or not. anybody know?

Scene is Sabrina in the kitchen, cleaning up after wake, complaining loudly about "who brings beef stroganoff to a wake, honestly (very sarcastic)"
Shannon walks in, says "can I help".
Sabrina says, "you want anything, take it or toss it."
Shannon starts looking at the pans, picks up one, opens it and says "dad loved beef stroganoff".
Sabrina says, "well, he won't be eating any tonight, will he?"
Shannon stops, looks horrified.
Sabrina says, "I'm sorry, I don't know what I was saying." mumble, mumble.
They go to sink.
Sabrina says, "Shannon, I really did love him, you know."
Shannon says, "I know you did. I did too."
Sabrina says, "Guess that's the one thing we'll always have in common."
Shannon, "Yeah, I guess so"
Sabrina, A short breath, then says "So, when will you be leaving."
End of scene.
Basically, it made mommy-dearest look like a gold digger who hated Shannon and MAY not have loved Dad.
It's over at Lost Media too.
XxLostawayxX 11-16-2005, 06:18 PM Thanks! And so QUICK! Do they usually have a secret scene? To my knowledge it was the first time that i had heard about it, but maybe I just missed it?

They've had a secret scene the last few times, but I think no one has been watching it on GMA. And each time, I've thought, "man that scene should have been in the full episode instead of some commercials."
Since Invasion isn't doing that great ratings-wise, I bet they're just including what would have been the secret scene in this one. I hope they have the extra footage AND a new secret scene. I just TIVO GMA and fast forward through it. It's usually somewhere between 45 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes into the show.
ps -- It was quick because I had typed up a summary for someone last week. ;)
lostinchitown 11-16-2005, 07:01 PM hey kidslikedogs, how'd you get on the project?

Go to the games section and look at the threads there. You'll figure it out pretty quick. ;)
