If any show is gonna hook someone new. It should be either the Pilot from Season 1 or maybe tonights episode. Since both are beginnings.

But if it doesnt somehow get him (or her) interested in Lost. Show em the episode that ends with Hurley's CD player dying. Thats another episode thats good for hooking people.

Got Blind boys of Alabama playing "I shall not walk alone" in the background. Damn some great music gets connected to this show.

I think it would be funny if someone who has never seen Lost started with tonight's episode, since it's supposed to be all about the tailies and not the main cast.... LOL..

The first few minutes made all my skepticism about the episode go away...anyone notice the parallels between A-L and the little girl and Jack/Charlie? Or the vaguely octagonal shape in the sand?

What is drawn in the sand? I dont know if someone was dragged. But it sorta looks like a part of the beach was marked with sand where they would land... Very strange.

Nice intro, but crappy CGI on the tail falling into the ocean.

Yep, the tail section of the plane went down. What was with the strange noise that seemed to almost dominate everything. It sounded like metal groaning or ripping. You wouldnt hear that normally on the beach if the wreck was out in the water. Even if it wasnt that far.

Show opens:
Camera pans over the beach out to see. Tail section crashes into ocean(holy ****) Anna comes up out of the water, people are screaming and dieing. Eko shows up out of the water, starts saving people. Ana gives cpr to a little girl. Eko comforts little boy. Ana saves girl. "Where's my mommy? we were supposed to meet her in LA." Anna looks around at the island. "I don't think we are there yet."
Cue title and cut to commercial.

Cool opening. Nothing like the pilot episode though.
The tail section hitting the water sounded just like the security system/monster scream to me.

Okay, the guy was dragging himself through the sand...messed up leg, maybe or confused?

Also, theories of Eko being mute seem wrong?

There was a shape drawn in the sand that looked vaguely octagonal, to regular to be someone being dragged. It reminded me of the Dharma logos, esp. with the people inside. I'd need to see it again for it to be more than a long-shot theory though. ;)

Libby also had some med school - like Desmond!

Eko ask Cindy to watch the boy and girl. He has something to do. He pulls the dead that are floating on the water to shore. Eko is becoming a favorite of mine. Libby is patching a leg and talking BS so she can pop a guys leg back in place. Libby is a clinical psychologist. Bernard is caught up in a tree, still in his chair. Ana is in full on Jack mode. She talks Bernard to safety as the chair falls, then climbs the tree to get him. Goodwin is trying to start a fire with sticks(not Shannon). He was in the Peace Corp. Bernard sheepishly asks Eko if one of the bodies was African American. They were not. Bernard can't find her. Eko will pray for her.

Strange sounds later in the night. Ana and Goodwin go to check it out. Eko is covered in blood. He has killed two people with a rock.
Cut to commercial.

Eko is being set up...he can't be bad, he is praying for Rose!!

Watch the kids, Ana says - what foresight!!

My guess would be the same as what happend to Charlie. Benard was in the bathroom. Crap hit the fan. He runs out and jumps in a seat and buckles his seatbelt. Then the tail section breaks off.

How the hell did ANY of them survive that. Same as with the front section. Nobody should have survived that impact.

Bernard survived his impact with only some blood on him while the guy next to him is killed....

Maybe he was on his way back and from the bathroom when the plane started shaking and he took the first available seat.

all i know are fires are symbols for the others to come (per danielle). goodwin sent up the signal, and then poof, the others were there.

RE: the lines in the sand...

I noticed them too, and to me it looked like the knee tracks of one guy who was crawling on the beach. It seemed odd to me how he went in a straight line then angled off, that's why I noticed him.

Hmmm. Ethan ... Nathan. Hmmm!

So they were flying for 2 hours in the wrong direction before the crash and lost communication - explains why they were not found.

And now, they have lost - simply lost - two people, no explanantion.

Eko carries a stick he made, knowing more others will be out to kill them - he carves their days into it and he is not talking since he killed the others. Simply amazed he killed them to be honest how did he even hear or sense them.

They are running through days quickly...day 12 already, kids still there.

Nathan went to the bathroom ALONe when they go in pairs - and his Yeah sorry sounded a little like he was up to something.

The others took the kids and some adults, Ana kills an Other - a gilr, finds a knife on her pocket, and a list of nine of the tailes!!

Day 2
The dead people have no wallets, keys or ID. Survivors have come up missing. Eko is going Conan and making a weapon. Get 'em Adibisi. Nathan is complaining. Cindy informs everyone about the plane being off course. That depresses everyone.

Day 3
Scrounging for food. No water. Wounds are getting infected.

Day 5
Burying the dead.

Day crap I missed it.
They caught a chicken. Everybody is eating KFC today. Eko hasn't talked in a week.
Libby tells him he was just defending himself. Eko is still working on his weapon. Ana heard a pig in the jungle. Kids are playing. Nathan(?) comes out of the jungle. Ana asks where he was. "Had to go to the bathroom". Ana - "We always go in pairs."
Night: Others are back. They take the kids. They kill another other. The body has a list of nine names from the group. Cue commercial.

that dude is there ethan, he has to be feeding them information and then they are choosing who to take, they never got that chance with jacks groups since they were on to him quick with the census.

So.... The story is trying to show us that all those who arrive to the island go through the same thing. "Ethan" infiltrates the group and learns more about the arrivals...

We first see Ethan on day 15 starting with the crash day (Locke went hunting with him). However, that does not mean he wasn't with the Fuselage survivors prior to that day, so we don't know when he showed up.

Ethan said he was from Canada, too.

Goodwin is an Other. He just snapped Nathans neck. WOW

So, for those wanting a blow-by-blow, Ana's got Nathan in the pit she later put S, J&M in. She's thrown a rock at Nathan and now she's arguing with the ones in her group as to whose decision it was to stay on the beach. Eko walks away. Ana's talking to Goodwin, who's "worried about [her]." Ana promised the little girl that she'd get her home, and she's feeling responsible. Goodwin is now trying to get Ana to let Nathan go...I'll watch the show now. :p

And we are back:

Others took nine into the jungle. Ana is transforming into the Ana we all know and love/hate. Ana points out that Nathan was gone in the jungle for two hours yesterday.

Day 15
They have decided to trek into the jungle. Nathan stops at a stream. Ana gives him 5 minutes. Everyone rests. Nathan wants to stay. Ana doesn't argue. I don't think she wants the leadership role. Libby talks to Ana about the others and Nathan being missing for 2 hours. She asks Ana if it could be possible if one of them could be... Ana - "Why do you think I'm digging this hole?" It's the pit Sawyer, Mike and Jin were in. She throws Nathan in the pit. The tailies discuss if Nathan is on of "them." Eko still not talking.
Night:
Ana asks Nathan "Where are the kids?" Nathan is from Cananda. He was on a company retreat. No one saw Nathan on the plane.
Day 23
"Where are the kids Nathan?" Someone has been feeding the prisoner. Eko gave the food to Nathan. Eko still is not talking. Ana and Goodwin at the stream. Goodwin is worried about Ana. Ana says she made a promise to the little girl to get her home. Ana has no children of her own. Goodwin thinks they should let Nathan go. Great line from Ana that's too long to type.
Night:
Nathan in the pit. Goodwin lets him out. Goodwin tells him to leave before Ana hurts him.
Holy **** Goodwin breaks his neck! Goodwin is the spy! Perfect time for a commercial!

oooo nathan in the pit was holding up goodwins plans (whatever those plans may be) so he killed him!!!!!!!!!

Ana is digging, and the blond (can't remember name) has suspicions about nathan too. Ana is digging the hole to set a trap??

Day 19
OH!! It's the hole Sawyer and company get thrown in...it is a jail for nathan. The flight attendant doesn't remember seeing him on plane, no one does, he doesn't talk about himself...Nathan is in background screaming LET ME OUT!! Ana questions him that night about where he is from...to no avail

Day 23
Still asking him, WHERE ARE THE KIDS??? Nathan has something behind him. oh my!! bananas - who gave him food??? It was Nathan's idea to keep them at the beach to get them picked off, one by one, Ana says Looks like Eko may be giving Nathan the bananas.

Ana feels guilty that the kids were taken because she promised girl she would get her back to her mom.

Peace Corp guy sends rope down to Nathan, pulls him up, gives him fruit, sends Nathan to beach but kills Nathan!!!! Peace corp guy is the spy!!!!

why did ana pause when goodwin asked her is she had any kids? maybe there's something in her past related to prgnancies or adoptions or something...

True to form, the Lost team managed to set us up for a good ten minutes, only for us to find that we were totally off base. Though I'd still like to know why that two-hour bathroom break. Guess island food can't be that good. XD

I must say, snapping someone's neck is not very Peace Corp-like behavior. I think maybe JFK would've frowned on that.

They are back at the ocean.

They find the other Hatch. Eko opens the door. Quarintine is written on the inside. Dharma logo with an arrow pointing straight up. Ana finds a power source. There are supplies. A glass eye, wonderful. A radio, whoopee. They go outside to use the radio.
The hills are blocking it. No signal. Need higher ground. Goodwin will go. Ana insists to go along. Ana is questioning Goodwin. She knows what's up. Why do they take some of us. 1st night they removed all the threats. People who can defend them. They changed plans after Eko went Adibisi. Goodwin asks for Ana's knife. Where did they get the knife? They don't even wear shoes. Ana has millitary knowledge. Goodwin may be getting a little worried. Ana is baiting him along. How did you know Bernard was in the jungle if you were on the beach? She calls him out. You were never even in the ocean.
Where are they? Nathan was not a good person. That is why he was not on the list. They only take good people. The children are fine. They are better off now. Goodwin strikes. Ana takes him out when he falls on her spear.
Back to the tailies. Ana informs everyone they are safe here now.

Day 41
Bernard is using the radio. He picks up Boone's tansmission. I just got goosebumps. This is eerie. We are the survivors of flight 815. Ana cuts him off. Bye Boone. See ya in another life, brother.

Ana is alone, breaking down and crying. Eko is here. He speaks. Going to be ok he says. You talking now? He did not talk for 40 days as punishment for killing. You waited 40 days to talk? You waited 40 days to cry? Ana breaks down. Commercial.

I guess she's human after all.

find out nathan is "gone - it's time to move!

Go to beach - nothing there, nobody to come rescue them

Day 27

Find the other hatch - go explore it - easy enough to open - has QUARANTINE written on inside, like other hatch. Dharma symbol with the arrow, not swan. Ana finds a box, a glass eye falls from the top. They find a radio inside. Bernard talks into into, but Peace Corp guy says they need to go to higher ground.

Ana and P.C. guy are talking on their way up, about the others, who they took/killed - first it was the tough guys, Ana asks why didn't they take you? (suspiciously) at top, with radio, PC guy asks for knife to cut a fruit.

Ana asks - why no shoes?? How did they get a US military Army knife that is probably 20 years old?? Ana asks, can I ask you something?? How did you find bernard in the tree the day you ran into the jungle?? He heard him shouting. Ana KNOWS!!! He wasn't wet when he ran out to tell them about Bernard!! WHERE ARE THEY she asks. Why did you kill nathan?? He says nathan wasn't a good person, that is why he wasn't ON THE LIST. The children are FINE. They are better off now he says.

They are fighting!!!! ana runs the stake eko made through him as he comes to her. WOW.

She comes back, where is goodwin - Ana say, We are safe here now.

Day 41

Bernard still trying the radio - he hears BOONE!!! That was the other group. Ana shuts it off, thinking it is the others.

Ana convinces them that there are no survivors. This is out life now - get used to it.

Ana is crying at the stream, alone. Eko comes up - TALKS, you are going to be ok, he says, and hugs her.

He is talking because it has been 40 days - tells her she has waited 40 days to cry.

Even though a lot of people hate A-L, you gotta admit, shes pretty good

I've always been an A-L fan, though as a Sawyer fan the two seemed for a while mutually exclusive!

I believe Goodwin confessing the others only take "good people" ties into the eugenics project that was part of Dharma.

i have one thing to say.... i thought it was absolutely and totally impossible for me to have any feeling except hate for ana... and i was wrong. i will not admit that i was just touched by her and eko. i will not admit it. but i will admit i was wrong about me not being able to like her even a little... omg i'm in shock

There is Jin, washed up on the tailies beach...the blindfold him...eko asks who are you where are you from?

Of course, Jin is wearing a broken handcuff, doesn't help him.

And there is Sawyer and Michael, getting the sh*t beaten out of them. They get thrown in.

Ana asks Eko to hit her so she can go in the hatch...they go through what we have already seen to day 46, the hatch, Day 47, the walk through the jungle, sawyer collapsing, and CIndy being taken to day 48...THE WHISPERS!!!! She does seem to shoot shannon, but doesn't immediately see what she shot so maybe not!!!

You were ALL great, Moriane, it is the mixture of your posts (the long explanatory once in particular, of course) that makes reading this so much fun!

My personal highlight, btw, was "Damn Canada" *one min later as Goodwin breaks Nathan's neck* "Er...well nevermind... " :laughing:

Day 45
Making a fishing net on the beach. Jin washes on shore. Libby and Cindy pull him from the water. They have Jin tied up. Eko questions him but he speaks no english of course.
Ana is suspicious due to his broken handcuff. Jin escapes. It's the final scene from Adrift.
Utters! Utters! Utters!
Flash forward through scenes from previous episodes.

Day 48
Where is Cindy? Did they take her? Cue whispers. Ana shoots at the first thing that moves. Ana shot Shannon. Let me repeat. It WAS Ana. She shot her.

Great episode. Eko is now in my top 5 lostaways. Still don't like Ana too much but she has her reasons to be the way she is.

Next week Ana/Sayid smackdown. Looks good.

I give this episode 4 swans out of 5. Very entertaining. We learned a lot about the others and the two primary characters from the tailsection. Good job to the writers. I can't wait to see how Ana and Eko mix into the mid-section camp.

Awesome merge of stories between talies and fusies!!!!! I Have to say this was one of the best episodes from season 2, i love the way it was presented.

WAIT A MINUTE!! I missed some of the preview. Sayid goes after AL and she shots again. Next Eko asks Jack where is your doctor. Was he carrying Sawyer, Sayid, AL??? Somebody clue me in.

Awsome awsome episode! You're right, it was cool how they blended their stories together. The talies definetly got the short end of that survivor stick. Now i'm just going to have to watch it again.

I tried to get on the forums a bit earlier but the server was too busy, but i should have expected that. Can't wait till we find out how they behave around each other. What's locke gonna think of Eko? ...will be most interesting...
