I think the others are trying to create one of those perfect societies. So that is why they are kidnapping only the good people.

As in Good, "pure"-minded and strong people.


What strikes me is Ethan was an angry individual. Ruthless, almost unstoppable. It took a simple trap and a few armed people to take him down. He gave no information at all.

Goodwin was calm, collected, and quite sane when Ana started asking questions. And, by a fluke [landing/impaling himself on a spear] was killed by Ana. He started conversing about the Others' agenda. Giving some insight and information.

"The others'" behavoir is definitely odd. They do seem to just be taking people and not attacking just to hurt and kill. I just think it's weird that they have an actual list of names of survivors to take. Creepy.

I am totally with you. Ethan's rage and violence doesn't fit with the Goodwin/Kidnapping Other agenda. I believe that Nathan was an infiltrator for Ethan's group, hence the same creepy vibe, canada reference, not alot of background detail, similarity of name, etc. I believe there are two groups each with there own infiltrators (Nathan/Goodwin). Ethan additionally wanted ONLY CLAIRE, and never called for bare-footed backup. If he was with Goodwin's group he certainly could have? All this makes me think that there are 2 very distinct other groups. I violent one, and a kidnapping one, and that they may not even know about each other.

Ethan was not part of the barefoot others... he must have been part of the hillbillie boat people others who weld guns.
