They are the only good ones that are not taken! Think about this. Both are religious and both knows everything will be ok. Bernard's wife knew he was alive.

If that's the case, how can Rose be one but not Bernard? And Eko is clearly shown as having come out of the ocean, so that makes him unlikely. Breasmith 11-16-2005, 11:21 PM i think bernard and rose may in fact be quite bad. rose is trying to hard to 'fit in.' bernard seems to be fairly oblivious to the needs of others. this couple may be the islands bonnie and clyde. hehe SQT 11-16-2005, 11:30 PM I think it is jumping the gun a little bit to assume that by "good" he meant the opposite of evil or anything relating to values or morals. Good can be taken in many different contexts. I could say that the milk in my refrigerator is still "good" but it in no way would imply that it is spiritual. I doubt that it is planning to sabotage all of the other items in my kitchen while I sleep, but you get my point. There are just too many definitions of the word good to understand what Goodwin meant by that statement. SQT sickotriz 11-16-2005, 11:37 PM I think it is jumping the gun a little bit to assume that by "good" he meant the opposite of evil or anything relating to values or morals. SQT Indeed. It's gonna be crazy seeing what people speculate about it though. This episode got some fires burning again, I love it! joeydeese 11-16-2005, 11:59 PM When I say "Them" I do not mean they were on the island but they knew that they were gong to the island when they got on that plane. It really looks like Eko has a Dharma tattoo on his upper left arm when he is comforting ana. screenshot? LockeLove 11-17-2005, 12:19 AM Whoever they took are "good" in the sense that they are exactly what they need for their project, experiment, religion or whatever it is. ForeverLost19 11-17-2005, 12:46 AM I think they did try to take Eko in their first foray into the beach camp. It seemed like he killed the two others in self defense, not because he was trying to stop them from taking anyone else. So, should we assume that at least prior to this kill, Eko was thought to be "good" by the Others? i_love_dmjgmfna 11-17-2005, 12:50 AM So, should we assume that at least prior to this kill, Eko was thought to be "good" by the Others? Ooooh, nice catch. And we don't know that Rose and Bernard aren't bad. We haven't learned about their pasts yet. ForeverLost19 11-17-2005, 01:03 AM I just saw a post by LockeLove saying that "good" may mean good for experiments, not necessarily a personality trait. Interesting... George1 11-17-2005, 02:47 AM Bernard is great - what about that scene in the tree? Yooowza. piscescat 11-17-2005, 05:07 AM "Good for experiments" or something like that was my thought too. Elphaba 11-17-2005, 08:38 AM Since when does being religious automatically make someone "good?" Besides, it has been hinted pretty strongly that both Charlie (a drug addict) and Hurley (a former mental patient) are religious at least to some extent (Charlie went to confession, Hurley's mother made several religious references, so he was obviously brought up to be religious). And we don't know what the Others' mean when they say someone is "good." They may feel religion is something bad, for all we know. We have very little knowledge of their culture or values. hiltop 11-17-2005, 08:46 AM First of all, I think Eko has proven himself to be someone not to be messed with. Secondly, I agree with the posters that we don't know the definition of the word good here. Also, they haven't bothered with most of the main camp, so Rose would not be a target right now. Eko and Rose are both older and maybe not ideal for their experiments. rvarzea 11-17-2005, 09:12 AM Foverlost is correct... they DID try to take Eko the first night, but he killed the two that tried to take him. Late on Goodwin even mentioned that on the first night they tried to take the strong/athletic ones ("your silent friend and the other 3"). So they did TRY to take him, but Eko is a MONSTER and is my FAVORITE lostaway now! :) BrownEyedGrrl 11-17-2005, 09:14 AM This may have already been said, but I personally believe that they were trying to take Mr. Ecko-- that's why he had to fight off the one and ended up killing them. ETA: Okay, I read back through and see that it has already been said. :o So, I agree with all of you who think They were after him, too! ;) |
