I so agree about Ethan owning Goodwin's face off. Ethan was this creepy, strong, bad guy. Goodwin was just, well a bit annoying actually.

Good point. Also, Ethan seemed to be better at physical strength, while Goodwin had better social skills, so maybe these 2 had different functions all along. If you recall, Ethan was always very awkward around the Lostaways - he didn't easily make conversation, seemed uncomfortable around people and just didn't blend in. In contrast, Goodwin seemed very much at ease among the Tailies and he was a much better choice to pose as one of them. So maybe the plan was for Goodwin to infiltrate and Ethan to do the physical work. But after Goodwin was killed, Ethan had to do it all and that's when he showed up..

It may also be that Goodwin and Ethan weren't working for the same groups, but for the moment I'd agree with what gumpy mentioned.

This was my thinking as well. Or perhaps an unborn baby, for whatever reason, is the most desirable for whatever strange goings-on the Others are associated with. Therefore, Ethan, being the strongest, took responsibility for kidnapping Claire

this is a huge conspiracy and all the ethans, nathans and anyone else's name that ends in "thans" is in on the whole thing. i forgot the name of the guy that was in the hatch but could it be that he's a part of this as well and somehow they're a part of the that huge experiment?
