View Full Version : Talies vs. The Monster

Okay y'all, here's a thought.

If the monster is as "big" as it seems to be and makes as much noise as it seems to make, then wouldn't Ana and the tailies have seen and heard the trees moving like our dear group of survivors did? Or, is the island just too big for all that noise to carry?

any suggestions?

Nice catch. I wonder how the tailies are gonna react they hear and "see" the monster for the first time?

Island is way big. Noisel ike that wouldn't carry.

I'm thinking the Dharma hatches are progressive. The one they are in now is the Arrow(Aka, Zoology). It looked like it had been abandoned for some time. Dharma possibly finished what they needed to complete at this hatch? Maybe the Monster/Security System had no reason to be there anymore?

island is too big.

i'm working on the theory that there are different pods across the island for different areas of hanso (eugenics, etc). so i think that the monster is somehow tied in with the swan station and therefore doesn't venture near their (Tail) side of the island.

"What's THAT???"

"That? Oh, that's just the monster what comes at night (or day) and eats us. You guys didn't have a monster?"

Or maybe what the security system needs to protect is near the main lostaways camp...but I am still wondering why there wasn't any mention of it near where Shannon died, it was raining, and we know that whenever it is raining there is site of the monster.

LMAO. It would be funny if they compared notes...

Dr. Candle actually said as much in the training video. The original hatch is station 3 of 6, the Swan, likely the one set up to study electromagnetism. The other station -- the Arrow -- is one of the other 6 stations, possibly the zoology station.

Did anyone else think that the sound of the tail section crashing into the water sounded exactly like the monster?
I know people have said in the past that the monster sounds like the crash but this time around it was so exact... at least I thought it was.

I agree with the tail section crash sounding like the monster.

I thought I heard monster noises in the background during their first night on the beach.
Reminded me of monster coming over to take a look at our group on their first night.

Hmmm... you all didn't hear it? Will have to go back to the DVR and replay that scene...

No, I just re-watched the first night and didn't hear it... I was expecting them to have a visit like our lostaways did too though. Honestly I'm shocked they never had a run in with the monster.

I was pretty distracted by the fact that the crash sounded almost exactly like the monster. It was tough for me to focus on any other sounds.

I haven't gone back and found the scene, but I remember hearing it when it was growing dark and the camera was panning back from their beach site. It was definitely hours after the crash and really mirrored to me the way that we first heard the monster.
I was waiting for the tailees to jump up and start talking about it.
Will really have to go back and listen to this... I'm starting to feel like I'm hearing whispers that no one else is...

i thought during the crash there were a lot of sounds that sounded like the monster

besides day 1, and the time that locke almost got dragged underground, how many other monster appearances have we even had? not that many

I heard the "monster" noises when the plane first crashed and then later when it sank into the water for good....but that's the only time I recall them.

Looks like the Tailies are in a cove or valley, at least on one side. A hill that tall would probably block the sound of the mechanical monster thing if the sound were coming from a few days' walk on the other side.
