View Full Version : Hatch Code For All Dharma sections
LotteryTicket 11-17-2005, 12:35 AM After tonight episode, I have theory on hatch codes for all Dharma sections. I would like to post as Anna Lucia gave all clues. However, since this is my first posting, it think that before advancing theory, I should know where to put it. I search in spoilers and general theories. I also remember reading a mathematically approach to 4 8 15 16 23 42. Can someone directed me to correct thread?
Or should I post here?
cemetrygatecrasher 11-17-2005, 12:40 AM *shrugs* i'm curious and too lazy to look elsewhere. post it here if you figured it during tonight's ep. ;)
LotteryTicket 11-17-2005, 01:16 AM Theory Not Spoiler?
1 11 12 19 20 45
2 10 13 18 21 44
3 9 14 17 22 43
4 8 15 16 23 42
5 7 17 15 24 41
6 6 18 14 25 40
Anna Lucia speaks in Abandoned to Michael "they took three of us the first night, and nine more [later]. Tonight she says "it's been 14 days"
Following the pattern established, for six hatches, you arrive at the above sequence. Each row is ascending or descending by 1, each row relative (4 + 4 = 8, diagonally, 4 +5 = 9 (descending row), 3 + 6 = 9, diagonally, 3+7 + 10, etc)
The fact that Hugo had these numbers before arriving . . . I am looking for a back story to in the Tallies group to confirm numbers.
I suppose that the plot is to find all hatches and reset programs?

metallidevils 11-17-2005, 02:09 AM erm, im a math major and i have no idea what that is lol, please explain more?

"our numbers" are 4 8 15 16 23 42
the "tailies" numbers are alternately one less and one more of "our numbers" 3 9 14 17 22 43 (3 taken, 9 days later, 14 days post crash, day 17-Nathan in pit, 22????, 43?????--not sure where 22 and 43 are coming from)
assuming there are 6 hatches, 1 through 6, and each hatch is represented by a series of 6 numbers, and those numbers follow the same one less, one more pattern....
hatch 1: 1 11 12 19 20 45
hatch 2: 2 10 13 18 21 44
hatch 3: 3 9 14 17 22 43
hatch 4: 4 8 15 16 23 42
hatch 5: 5 7 17 15 24 41
hatch 6: 6 6 18 14 25 40
That's what I understand LotteryTicket to mean. I've seen the theory on another thread with regards to the "taillies" numbers (though I don't remember if there was an explanation for 22 and 43 there either). Not usre how much I buy into it at this point, but it's something to look for as the show progresses. What I do see that throws me off a bit is that "our" (sorry, I'm just more connected to the original, main cast) hatch/numbers begin with 4 and the Dharma Initiative film was labeled 3 of 6.
radical_lost 11-17-2005, 04:45 AM werent there 23 survivors (according to libby and mike) Mike said 'didnt you say there were 23 of you?". Now, assuming
Goodwin was an Other.. 23-1=22
nericq 11-17-2005, 08:31 AM Here's something to consider. I think the others intended to take 4 people the first night, but Mr. Eko stopped them from taking him, so they only ended up taking 3. THEN they took 9 the next time to compensate for missing 1 the first time. So by original design, they were going to take 4, then 8, but Mr. Eko foiled their plans.
Crow and Raccoon 11-17-2005, 02:21 PM Or maybe, just maybe, the writers have the audience so looking at anything (and everything) as a clue, that some people think every number mentioned on the show is Significant.
I noticed myself doing this last night -- Anna L was spouting off numbers in one scene, and I was frantically trying to figure out what they could mean, when suddenly it hit me: Maybe sometimes a number is just a number.
Just a thought...

SkippyBoPop 11-17-2005, 02:27 PM Preach on Crow and Raccoon! I'm a believer in what you are saying....
rvarzea 11-17-2005, 02:42 PM This could possibly be a spoiler (or at least disappointing to some, so I'll font it):
In an interview (I BELIEVE it was the TV Guide interview with Ausiello), Damon Lindelof said that we may never really find out the meaning behind the numbers. He said that even just thinking about it makes him go cross-eyed, basically... so all the number talk, while very cool and interesting may never get explained anyway.
FuzzyBee 11-17-2005, 02:55 PM hatch 1: 1 11 12 19 20 45
hatch 2: 2 10 13 18 21 44
hatch 3: 3 9 14 17 22 43
hatch 4: 4 8 15 16 23 42
hatch 5: 5 7 17 15 24 41
hatch 6: 6 6 18 14 25 40
Why repeat the number "6"? Once att the end of column 1, and then again at the end of column 2.
kimbrchick 11-17-2005, 03:22 PM I only watched the ep once so far but I don't remember the significance of the 14 days.
dank325 11-17-2005, 03:40 PM I think you guys are just trying a little too hard here... I think you need to stop looking for other numbers that happen to form a pattern, espically when you need to add, subtract, and/or divide that random number to some other completely random number.
I think the writers placing a bible in the hatch was genius (genius enough that i may start another thread about it). I mean if i read one more thread with some random *** verse from the bible i am going to toss my laptop out the window. Placing the bible there they knew that everyone would majorly over-read into it and start a million theories going a billion different ways

4 8 15 16 23 42
5 7 17 15 24 41
6 6 18 14 25 40
Shouldn't line five read: 5 7 16 15 24 41
and line six should be: 6 6 17 14 25 40
If you fix those lines then each line adds up to 108.

Yes, that's correct. sorry typo on my part. all equal 108.
very-lost 11-18-2005, 03:54 PM This sounds like it might lead to something, but I'm not convinced. :undecide:
