The first face I saw was Ana-Lucia's (but her whole face) Mr. Eco/Echo/Eko/Ecko was definitely on the plane (DAMN! I wanted him to be from the Beechcraft!) The boy's sister is named Emma. flora 11-17-2005, 01:13 AM Aw...Mr. Echo/Eko/Eco is a nice guy...watching the kids...having (Cindy?) watch them while he waded back into the wreckage in the surf. Libby rocks! Jack Jr.! But her bedside manner is so much better! The way she cracked that guy! Dropped out of med school before getting into psychology. (Who was that guy she was working on?) Red shirt: Bernard in seat on tree. Ana-Lucia and Goodwin run towards his shouting. Dead blonde guy (red shirt!!!he's actually wearing a red shirt!) in seat next to him. Ana-Lucia tells him to grab the seatbelt behind him, gives directions to grab onto the tree...very persuasive, very skillful...like a negotiator. She climbs up to get him after the seat falls. ?? Blonde guy...(Goodwin?)...from Peace Corps...trying to light fire on the beach. (Ah-ha! It is Goodwin.) Hey...the fire must have worked. Bernard looks from fire...his face is sad. Yellow shirt, gray pants. he walks to Mr. Eco... wants to know if Rose was one of the bodies he pulled out of the surf. Mr. Echo says he will pray for Rose, (not named), Bernard's wife. Bernard questions why no planes have come. Sleeping on the beach by the fires, they awake to noise of a struggle. Goodwin grabs a torch from th efire, Ana-Lucia orders Libby to watch the kids, they run to the bush and find Mr. Ecko over a bloody mess, looking distraught. The White Lady 11-17-2005, 01:18 AM When they bury the man who had the infection, there are currently 8 graves and 16 survivors, both Numbers. The man being buried makes the 9th grave. 9 dead, 9 taken (though I don't think they'e been taken at that point.) The army knife dates from the same time as the Dharma orientation video, suggesting that they arrived on the island with the same group. flora 11-17-2005, 01:25 AM No cell phone, no keys, nothing!- Ana-Lucia. Mr. Eco takes off shirt and looks out to sea. Guy in reddish shirt runs out of jungle (Is that Goodwin in a different shirt?) says three people are missing. Mr. Eco takes a small tree and snaps it. Ana-Lucia realizes that there were dead bodies on the beach before they arrived. A-L wants to go inland to a safer shelter. day three. Cindy? Flight attendant. Knows they were two hours flying in the wrong direction...they need to keep the fires burning as a signal. day five. Funeral. Ana-Lucia has the two blonde kids with her. They all look depressed. Pits were dug (?) and covered with palm leaves. 8 or 9 graves???? (look up) day 7 Chickens! They chase chickens. Libby approaches Eco on the beach. Asks if he wants chicken. Mr. Echo doesn't speak. SHe tells him it's okay, it wasn't his fault, he was only defending himself. day 12 (?) (DAMN TYPING AND WATCHING AT THE SAME TIME!) evidently the "Buddy Rule" was already enforced by this time as Ana-Lucia reminds reddish shirt guy of it when he went off to the bathroom. how many others? Tattered pants, third one short, chubby. Kids scream as they are snatched. Libby screams that they are taking the kids. Ana-Lucia struggles with ...is that an Other? Ana-Lucia got 'n! Killed the ?girl? In the Other girl's pocket was a list, a knife, something that looked like a clip of money(in a way)...a list of nine people...nine of the Tailies, I assume. flora 11-17-2005, 01:39 AM They drug 9 people into the jungle and there's no sign of them. Ana-Lucia yells at Mr. Echo because he is not talking. One of them had a list of us! Nobody knew anybody's name the first night. You were gone for two hours yesterday, where were you? Bernard doubts there was a need to infiltrate the group Libby says they need to get off the beach\ ? Goodwin? says to let the fire go out. (Sorry- didn't catch what day it was...anyone, anyone, Bueller?) 16? They are all walking in a line through the jungle...three days straight, says Bernard. Day 17 Ana-Lucia is digging. Libby comes over and says, Hey. She is "creeped out" that Nathan was gone for two hours. A-L is obviously building a trap. Bernard is making rabbit traps with Nathan. A-L comes over, kicks Nathan in the face (GO, GIRL!), and tosses him in the pit. Man, "Nathan" sounds a lot like "Ethan" A-L and Cindy agree they did not see Nathan on the plane. Bernard questions why he would still be ther if he was "one of them?" A-L asks Mr. Echo if he has a "problem with this?" (In regards to keeping Nathan in a pit, as he screams...sounds like torture may be an option) Ana-Lucia interrogates... Nathan also says he was from Canada. (Ethan said he was from Ontario) day 23 A-L is still interrogating Nathan. Where are the kids, Nathan, where are the kids? A sound like a wolf crying. A-L seeds Nathan hiding something, throws something at him to see what it is...it's a banana. A-L asks who threw Nathan the banana. She asks Mr. Echo if he did it, but he silently walks past the group. A-L at a creek. Goodwin comes behind. Ana-L is cutting with a very sharp knife... I promised that little girl that I would get her back home to her mom. Do you have any kids, Ana? No. We should let him go, we're not savages. if we were savages, I'd have cut off his finger already. that's tomorrow. Goodwin says that Ana-Lucia has had him for four days. Asks if she is okay...if it's worth it. Ana-Lucia alludes that the fifth day is the day she'll cut off one of his fingers to try to get him to talk. Aw...damn it...why did Goodwin throw Nathan a rope? Well...that'll teach you... Nathan totally strangles Goodwin after he tells him that he's five miles (that way) to the beach. metallidevils 11-17-2005, 01:40 AM well we know the others killed the stronger members of the TSS, and they are pretty much only after the children. I think we can also confirm now that Ethan was an other, for a while I was pretty sure he wasn't. New mystery: How did they know the names of who to kill? Unless Goodwin knew everyone's names by then? Also, why wasn't Walt taken sooner? And why werent our original survivors ever attacked by a group of others? What do they have that the TSS don't? I'd say Walt, but they still havent been attacked since he's been gone - maybe Vincent? Aaron? flora 11-17-2005, 01:40 AM re: symbolism of palm leaves (on graves)- http://www.annieshomepage.com/palmsunday.html waltisfuture 11-17-2005, 01:44 AM Great job flora. I.......WILL.....LORD ?? carved on Mr. Eko's stick http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=814&pos=214 Raven 11-17-2005, 01:44 AM Eko didn't talk for 40 days. 40 days is significant within religions in numerous ways. The door had bunker door had quarantine on the inside and the word quarantine comes from the Italian quaranta giorni which means "40 days". flora 11-17-2005, 01:55 AM Ana-Lucia wakes up... Goodwin says good morning. (or whoever- they all look alike!) Cindy runs through, Ana- he's gone? Natha's gone? They found us...it's time to move.- A-L Day 27 Door with vines covering it. Cindy asks what it is. Ana-Lucia- I don't know, it's some kind of bunker. Libby- do you think it's theirs? Mr. Eco walks past...brazingly opens the door. Dharma initiative symbol on wall, Mr. Eco sees it immediately. A-L turns on the lights. Goodwin? says it looks like a storage facility. Libby has found a glass eye in the trunk (EW!) A Bible. Bernard finds a radio. A-L grabs it. Up high, Bernard, A-L, Mr. Echo and Goodwin? go up to try out the radio. Ana volunteers to go with Goodwin up higher to try the radio. He tells her to go set up the camp but he agrees she can go. They're flirting in a way. A-L and Goodwin discuss the others... Why are they doing this, that kind of stuff. Goodwin says they took out the biggest threats first: "Quiet friend, three other guys, all athletic, tough, threats..." they didn't take you.- A-L I guess they changed their plan after two of them got killed.- G G asks for the knife. A-L reluctantly hands it to him. G cuts up a mango. A-L notices it's a U.S. Army knife. Takes it...it's stamped- she estimates it's at least twenty years old. Says it's weird that it would be on the island. A-L asks G when he came running out of the jungle, how did he find Bernard. A-L says G ran out twenty minutes after the crash...wasn't wet, wasn't in the ocean, asks where his friends are, Nathan, ect. Nathan was not a good person, so says Goodwin, that's why he wasn't on the list. What about the kids, did you kill them too?- A-L. The children are fine, they're better off now.- G. Fight! Fight! Fight! OW! Ana-Lucia, you got some 'splainin' to do! SHE'S THE ONE THAT IMPALED GOODWIN! She's killed twice on the island, holy crapola! Libby asks where Goodwin is and A-L says they're safe there tonight. Day 41. Bernard says he only turns on the radio a couple of minutes a day after A-L asks why he even bothers with that thing everyday. It's Boone's message- Bernard answers, Ana-Lucia shuts off the radio, says it's the Others trying to "draw them out" Ana-Lucia seems to be a pessimistic fatalist: "This is our life now; get used to it." Meaning, we're stuck on this island by ourselves, being hunted by these miscreants, and this is our lot now. A-L breaks down and cries at the creek. She looks up and it's Mr. Echo coming over to comfort her. It's going to be okay now. Ana-L asks if he talks now. He explains- it's been forty days. You've been waiting forty days to talk?- A-L to Eco You've waited forty days to cry. Eko to A-L flora 11-17-2005, 01:56 AM Great job flora. The horror! flora 11-17-2005, 02:04 AM Cindy sees something wash ashore. A piece of raft...it's Jin Cindy and Libby drag Jin ashore. Libby tells CIndy to get Ana-Lucia. Mr. Echo has Jin when he awakes. A-L totally zeroes in on the handcuff still on his wrist. Jin takes off running...just as Sawyer and Michael come ashore. Hey...I've seen this stuff already...! "Hit me." Mr. Eco- Hit you? Man, he whacks her good too! THat might have knocked her out for real! Day 46 when they started to move out... Day 47...hey...I saw this already...like, last week! C'mon, show what happened to Cindy! Day 48...today. Whispers. Ana-Lucia spins around, paranoid, scared... Michael yells Who/What was that? Ana-Lucia's face as she realizes... Sayid's face...man, Ana, you f*#&(*# with the wrong Marine!!!!!! Dang it, Ana-Lucia, you had one bullet and you spent it on Shannon! Geez! Raven 11-17-2005, 02:08 AM Cindy sees something wash ashore. Dang it, Ana-Lucia, you had one bullet and you spent it on Shannon! Geez! If that's the case, why does the preview for next week appear to show Ana-Lucia firing 'another' bullet? waltisfuture 11-17-2005, 02:15 AM Hey Raven I've read that it's Sayid's gun. A poster even mentioned the different types of guns. withay 11-17-2005, 02:23 AM And why werent our original survivors ever attacked by a group of others? What do they have that the TSS don't? I'd say Walt, but they still havent been attacked since he's been gone - maybe Vincent? Aaron? Guns, our original survivors have guns. And there are over twice as many (48 ) Lostaways as opposed to 23 Tailies. But mostly I think it was the guns. flora 11-17-2005, 02:54 AM Okay, last post. I'm tired. Time to go to bed. Red Shirts & Supporting Cast Red shirt trapped in hanging seat next to Bernard, already dead. Literally in red shirt. Various tailies that were kidnapped, gee, we hardly got to know ya! Secrets Nathan and Goodwin were from The Others. Promises. I promised that little girl that I would get her back home to her mom.- Ana-Lucia says to Mr. Eco (Gosh, our regular Lostaways only got one live-in Other: Ethan for 47/8 people. There weren’t nearly as many Tailies and they get two! ) Character Connections Ana-Lucia shot Shannon, who died in Sayid’s arms. Same as last week. Nathan and Goodwin weren’t on the plane. Mr. Echo was on 815 with everyone else, not the Beechcraft. Character Info: --> Symbolic tattoos, clothing or jewelry Mr. Eco? --> Employment history- Libby is a psychologist, not a doctor but she’s not bad at playing one on t.v. Little girl’s name is Emma. Don’t know about her brother’s name. Bernard is wearing yellow shirt, gray pants. Mr. Echo goes around shirtless a lot. Goodwin claimed to have been in the Peace Corps. It might be true…if he was in the Peace Corps before he was an “Other” Religious References (40) Forty day fast- Eco didn’t speak. Weird Props and Recurring Imagery ->Teddy Bear (yup…no polar bears over there, just one teddy.) -->Lamps – Ana-Lucia turned on the lights in the Dharma hatch. “The List” with nine Tailies complete with names and what they’re wearing -> Still with the handcuff on Jin, something which makes Ana very suspicious palm leaf grave covering Bible Radio Dharma Initiative logo on wall of hatch US Army knife --> Eyes – glass eye found in trunk in Dharma hatch by Libby. Signal fires on the beach Eco’s stick- I WILL LORD (?) Something religious. Parallel Plots & Recurring Themes --> Broken Families Bernard and Rose. The children lost their parents.? Ana says she promised “that girl” that she would get her back to her mom - The Others’ “Plants” in sending people to live with the crash survivors. --> Character Parallels Ana-Lucia saves someone with CPR on the beach right after the crash- just like Jack. Jack saved Rose and Ana-Lucia saved Emma. Ana-Lucia takes charge the same way Jack does- telling the rest of the survivors where they’re going to sleep and when they’re going there, ect. We’re going to the beach, we’re not going to the beach, ect. Libby dropped out of Med School. Desmond also dropped out of Med School. [Jack went to Med School. Coincidence? (Yeah, maybe…not…even…)] --> Free Will vs. Fate Ana-Lucia seems to think that they are all stuck there, on the island, with the Others, probably forever. Sounds like fate to me: "This is our life now; get used to it." Recurring Phrases You've been waiting forty days to talk?- A-L to Eco You've waited forty days to cry. Eko to A-L --> Other Ana-Lucia has Mr. Echo hit her just as Kate had her “boyfriend” hit her during the “bank robbery” when she retrieved her toy plane- a device used in order to make the situation look as though the two women were beaten up, vulnerable, so they can get something in return. Kate wanted access to the safe deposit box and A-L wanted access to information that Nathan had about the kidnapped. Edit: I must have been sleepy when I typed that: I meant that A-L wanted info about our favorite raftees. They also have an “Away Mission” to take the radio to higher ground, just like the original Lostaways. Numbers References Yes, lots of numbers, again. Accidents Duh…a bloody Shannon- ring a bell? (one freakin’ bullet…and she kills Shannon! My god!) Ana-Lucia impales Goodwin. Misc. Symbolism Palm leaves Silence for 40 days in mourning Major Lost Mysteries: --> Hatch The Tailies’ hatch. Not near as well stocked…not at all! --> Whispers I only heard whispers right before Shannon was shot…but when the Others were kidnapping people I didn’t hear one whisper! What’s up with that? Misc. Unsolved Mysteries Ana-Lucia realizes that there were dead bodies on the beach before they arrived Lost Timeline Day one- Ana-Lucia revives “Emma” with CPR- Libby snaps that guy’s leg/arm/whatever (didn’t see that clearly) Mr. Echo retrieves the dead bodies from the surf. Bernard stuck up in tree Goodwin starts the signal fires (interesting…) Three people taken the first night by the Others. No one knew anyone’s name yet Day three- Cindy says that they have to keep the fires burning because they flew off course for at least two hours Day five- Funeral- of everyone dead? Or just the guy that didn’t make it? Ana-Lucia has the two blonde kids with her. Day seven- They found the chickens. Day 12- The Others came back and kidnapped the kids. Ana-Lucia kills one of them and finds the knife and the list in her pocket. Day 16- Walking…Bernard says they were walking for three days straight. Day 17- Ana-Lucia digs pit. Libby suspects Nathan as well. Day 23- Ana still interrogating Nathan. She has been for four days, says tomorrow (fifth day) is the day she’ll cut off a finger. Day 27- They find their hatch and inside, a Bible, a glass eye, a radio. Day 41- Bernard hears Boone’s radio message but Ana-Lucia makes him turn it off because she thinks it’s the Others trying to fool them. Mr. Eco starts to talk again. ? Jin washes ashore. Day 46- They start walking toward the other side of the island, to the other survivors. Day 47- Sawyer in bad shape, gets put on a stretcher. Cindy mysteriously disappears, thus making Claire once again, the only Aussie on the island Day 48 Ana-Lucia kills Shannon. Poor Sayid. ;( Food Libby asks for water but no one has any. Weapons Knife Later, Sawyer’s gun with one remaining bullet. Fights Ana-Lucia and the Other that she found the list on. Ana-Lucia and Goodwin when she impaled him. Bondage / Captivity Nathan’s “jail cell” pit. Sickness/Injury The guy with the infection or whatever that died despite Libby’s best doctoring Island Technology / Inventions jail cell pit Strange little fire-making bow The Morgue: Body Count and Funeral Rites Eco rescued the bodies from the surf They buried them in pits covered with palm leaves At the last “funeral”, there was 9 graves. The White Lady 11-17-2005, 03:02 AM 48 days, 48 original Lostaways. Coincedence? duckyislost 11-17-2005, 09:42 AM Ana-Lucia didn't find dead bodies that were there before the crash. Eko killed those 2 others with a rock when they attempted to abduct him the first night. The others they killed had no labels in their clothes. Eko is a man of faith. Tells Bernard he will pray. Self-imposed pennance, vow of silence for 40 days after he kills his attackers. Bondage/Captivity/Blindfolds 2.07 Nathan in Ana-Lucia's pit in the jungle Ana-Lucia threw him in there as a suspected other Goodwin frees him 2.07 Jin bound with wrists behind his back to a small tree and blindfolded In the jungle near the beach where Sawyer and Mike wash up Tied up by the tailies who suspect him of being an other Eko takes his blindfold off Jin breaks the tree and runs to the beach, wrists still bound Mike and Sawyer free his wrists http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=814&pos=568 http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=814&pos=569 Ana-Lucia makes promises, like Jack. Put Libby's bedside manner and Jack's medical expertise together and you'd have a stellar doctor. Libby once broke a leg skiing, in Stow, Vermont 23 tail section survivors - all accounted for now. 4 die including Donald, the guy with the broken leg. Libby says to AL that he makes it 4 dead, presumably the other 3 also had injuries from the crash. 3 taken first night 9 taken 2 weeks later Goodwin kills Nathan AL kills Goodwin Cindy goes missing AL, Eko, Bernard, Libby are left. The Arrow station lights were lit from a battery, not an external power source. The door wasn't locked. Why another quarantine sign on the inside of the door? It didn't seem like anyone could live in there for very long - another exit? Goodwin reacts to the Arrow bunker as though he's never seen it. Didn't Boone say "flight eight fifteen" in DEM? When I heard the transmission say "flight eight one five" it sounded odd. Successful island CPR 1.01 Jack on Rose 1.11 Jack on Charlie 2.02 Sawyer on Mike 2.07 Ana on Emma Injured in order to deceive 1.09 Sayid shoots himself to aid Nadia's escape 1.12 Kate has Jason hit her during the bank robbery 1.13 Shannon uses a bruise to scam money from Boone 2.07 Ana has Eko hit her to gain info from the rafters No whispers until they near the Fusies area No hallucinations or weird dreams No polar bear sightings No monster No black smoke blahbityblah 11-17-2005, 09:54 AM I don't think I saw it above but there's a ring on AL's left ring finger car88win 11-17-2005, 06:16 PM Thanks Flora for starting this thread. I was running late yesterday and just made it in time to watch - so I didn't get the chance to post it. Thanks to those of you that have continued to gather the info! car88win 11-17-2005, 06:17 PM Would like to see a bit more on the US Army knife if anyone can find it and post it here..... duckyislost 11-18-2005, 10:01 AM Knife pic http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=814&pos=435 Foreshadowing - Goodwin breaks the chicken's neck, then Nathan's. I still haven't watched the whole episode. flora 11-18-2005, 06:28 PM Aw... Well, Happy Birthday to Creme's 18 year old daughter! P.S.- Creme, ya gotta hurry up and watch it! It's SOOOOO good. ;) waltisfuture 11-19-2005, 12:59 AM numbersarefun The Spirit of the Staff A staff is a basic tool. For thousands of years, the walking stick has been symbol, weapon, record, and support for the tired feet and legs of the wanderer. Even today, on the trail or in camp, it has a hundred uses. For centuries, labourers used the staff to support loads and defend themselves against man and beast. Egyptian hieroglyphics picture travelers with sticks in hand. The Bible is full of references to staffs. The ancient Druids, who believed each copse had its own living spirit, apologized to a tree before cutting it for a staff. Banned from owning conventional weapons, the poor of many countries traditionally turned to the staff for protection. The staff is also a symbol of authority and power. Moses used his to part the sea and to get water from a rock. In Egypt, the staff and the shorter rod were the Pharaoh's symbols of office. Today, the mace, an ornate and stylized version of a staff, symbolizes the power of parliament. At the same time, the staff, especially a staff with a crook, has always represented the humble shepherd. Truly, this is a stick for all men. As a weapon, a stick or cudgel was once a match for the sword, at least in legend. The McBride also says that "unless a person is trained to know the spirit of the staff, it is just a stick." keeping is one of the oldest uses for a staff. The ancient Norse used a notched stick called a skor to keep track of numerical information, and the word stuck around to become today's "score". Some native American peoples carried coup sticks decorated with carvings and feathers to commemorate victories in battle The Staff of God -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- God gave to Moses a monstrous commission - ‘deliver Israel out of the land of Egypt. ‘ Moses felt ill equipped for the task. "What is that in your hand?" God asked. "A staff," Moses replied. Just a walking stick to help him deal with the journey of life. He saw no special significance in it. Then God demonstrated to him the miraculous potential in that seemingly insignificant staff–and Moses actually fled in terror from his own walking stick! But when instructed to pick up the snake by the tail, once again, it returned into a staff in his own hand. Something simple and common, turned into a power authoritative tool, and then back to something simple and common. When God finished showing to Moses that his staff was an instrument of divine power and authority, it was all he needed to fulfill his task. With that rod Moses defeated the magicians of Egypt, stripped Pharaoh of his power, humiliated Egypt's gods and brought Israel out from slavery to freedom.* When Israel was challenged by the Amalekites, Joshua's success in battle hinged on the interceding raised hands of Moses, the raised hands that held the walking stick - the staff of God! How we, like Moses, treat prayer as common, insignificant, simply a walking stick to help us through the journey of life! But it is so much more. Throughout scripture, the "staff" is a symbol of authority and power. Commanders, rulers, kings had a staff or rod symbolizing their power. When David challenged Goliath, he did so with 5 smooth stones and his staff (I Sam 17:40). Elisha regarded his staff as powerful enough to deliver a child from death (II Kings 4:29). Where God delivers, the power of the enemy is broken, symbolized repeatedly by the enemy's broken staff (Jeremiah 48:17, II Kings 18:21, Ezekiel 29:6, Isaiah 14:5). The "rod of God" is pictured throughout scripture as the power and authority of God to judge and discipline the nations (Job 9:32, 21:9, Lamentations 3:1, Micah 6:9). Jesus, before his crucifixion was given a staff, symbolizing his power and authority, and then they took it from him and beat him with it, symbolizing that his rod was powerless (Matthew 27:29). Yet Jesus crucified was the power of God for our salvation. Jesus crucified was the staff of God to destroy the works of the evil one. "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross" (Colossians 2:15). Jesus told us to pray in his name, the name that now has all authority and power (Matthew 28:18). He is the Sovereign Lord who rules with an Iron Scepter (another picture of the staff of God) (Psalm 2, Acts 4:24). Its time to change our perception of prayer from something common to something extraordinary, powerful, in our hands to use in the service of the kingdom of God. May we, like Moses, be surprised, even terrified at times, by the power of the staff of prayer in our hands! http://www.pbv.thunder-bay.on.ca/Net...ercession.html (http://www.pbv.thunder-bay.on.ca/Net...ercession.html) Eko tattoo http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b381/happypixie/atatto.jpg http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=814&pos=214 NatHAN, EtHAN, HANso, SHANnon. It's a somewhat simplified notion I'm using here, and it's quite close to a functionalist view of the world, but I think it's close enough. It seems that Ecko quickly went from donning a suit to ripping his shirt off (sure it was bloody and there's no one nearly as large as him to exchange clothing, but so what?). However, when he finds the Bible he applies some sort of spirituality to his warrior nature. He is Arjuna, following his cosmic order or "Dharma", but not in a barbaric way; he does so in a spiritual way, he's guided by the order of things and by the bible (could be a reference to Krishna or a higher deity). One passenger had leg injury. One treated by a doctor and was fine. One died because of infection. scubagert 11-19-2005, 01:40 PM Walt, I disagree with your Eko's stick interpretation from above. At the beginning you said you read "I WILL..... LORD" That's what I see too, and right after Lord is an "F". Eko, is short for Ekoruhe - meaning Exodus in New Zealand and Polynesian cultures. http://www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/tei-TreMaor-f8.html Exodus 15:1 reads, "Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea." This is my guess to the passage that is on the stick. This explains his ties to Moses and Exodus, and makes visual sense from the pic of the stick. I copy interesting stuff when I see it, but sometimes by the time I post it here, so much more has been discovered. There are some great ideas on what the stick could have on it, but until we get another shot of it, I think we're all just giving good guesses. Move this post if it belongs in another thread. Everyone knows how Locke and Jack differ, but they share a few similarities. We should list their shared qualities and include Ana-Lucia and Ecko in the discussion once we discover more about them. Locke and Jack both: had women introduce them to faith (Helen and Sarah) struggle with "Daddy Issues" witnessed miracles failed Boone initially wanted to enter the hatch experienced intimate encounter with the island shortly after the crash (Locke recovered from his paralysis and saw the monster and Jack "saw" his "father" ) kept important secrets from the other survivors (Locke lied about the hatch and Jack lied about Kate) experienced emotional breakdowns when the hatch's computer malfunctioned and Desmond fled. Now for the tailies: We don't have a great deal of information on Ana, but Ana-Lucia and Jack Both: saved survivors who stopped breathing after the plane crash failed to keep their promises (Jack failed to save Boone and Ana-Lucia failed to protect the kids) lead their respective groups tend to force their help on others We don't know much about Ecko, but Both Ecko and Locke: share a sense of faith have adapted to Island life better than other survivors might have had lovers change their lives (We don't know whether Ecko married or dated, but his comment to Jin about marriage makes me think someone had an important influence in his life.) are soft-spoken allow others to help themselves comfort others with optimism and faith I think Ecko might share both Locke's and Jack's best qualities mixed with his own unique abilities and personality, but I guess we'll find out in future episodes. Feel free to add to this list. Other ideas from that thread Both Tailie and Fusie Lostaways have a doctor. Granted Libby isn't a medical doc, but she's a doctor of psychiatry (or is it psychology?) I believe both kids are brother and sister, similar to Boone and Shannon. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please. Both had an "Ethan" character. Both groups found a Dharma related site. someone also brought up the fact that libby and desmond both dropped out of medical school...... Hurley's census and the Others' list to be similar. And remember, neither Nathan nor Ethan were on their respective lists... duckyislost 11-21-2005, 02:47 PM Redshirts: The man with the mustache/beard on the far right in this promo pic http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=784&pos=33 and screencap from The Other 48 Days http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=814&pos=204 looks an awful lot like the guy that was a stand in for Bernard in these screencaps from Orientation. http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=737&pos=9 http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=737&pos=12 peepstone 11-21-2005, 04:11 PM New mystery: How did they know the names of who to kill? Unless Goodwin knew everyone's names by then? Also, why wasn't Walt taken sooner? And why werent our original survivors ever attacked by a group of others? What do they have that the TSS don't? I'd say Walt, but they still havent been attacked since he's been gone - maybe Vincent? Aaron? Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Others take the nine from the list two weeks after the plane crash? Also, I think the Others attacked the Tailies because there were fewer of them and also maybe their camp is closer to the Others' home base. Sam G 12-22-2005, 04:30 AM When Libby tells Sawyer "It's bad but it's not real bad." reminds me of Billy Crystal in the Princess Bride. Saying "Well, it just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead." I don't know why it remined me if that, it's one of my favorite lines. |
