Kate's dad (REAL dad, not sperm-dad Wayne) was stationed in Korea. What do you think he was doing there?

That's what I was just wondering- could there be a Sun/Jin connection?

Also- does this say anything about the timeline?

Maybe he was near the fishing villiage Jin grew up in?
A lot of possibilities!

He was probably stationed there. The U.S. has had a presence there since 1946.

He probably served with the 2ndID.

I think there were U.S troops stationed in Korea throughout the Vietnam War.

Did Kate say he was "in" Korea or he was in the "Korean war"?!?!?! Anybody catch that?

Also is this pic: http://timdorr.com/images/Lost/thatsjustsayid.jpg You can see that her dad has the patch of the US 6th Army on his sleeve. I did a little research and could find no mention of that Unit ever having been in Korea.

Maybe he went into the 6th Army after he served in Korea!? The 6th Army was deactivated in 1995.

(I hope it's ok that I linked to your pic timdorr!!!!!)

Can't be the Korean War. That ended in 1953, and I don't think Kate was born in the 1950's! Since we are friendly with South Korea and not on great terms with North Korea, there are plenty of reasons for a military man to be on the peninsula. The question is- what are those reasons, and are they significant?

According to google there are still military bases in Korea.

We (The USA) definitely still have bases in S. Korea!!!

I'm just wondering if there is suppose to be a connection to the 6th Army and Korea. Also, when was Kate's meeting with her Army dad suppose to be happening? The 6th Army was deactivated in '95. Would he still have that 6th Army patch on his uniform?! Was she on the run for that long?!?!?
