Anyone else notice that after the accident, which knocked the marshall silly and deployed the car's air bags, there was s hot of Kate backing up and driving off with what appeared to be no front end damage to the car? Oops...

...and wouldn't the airbag be an annoyance when you're trying to drive off in it?

But it's plausible that they were going slow enough by the time of impact that the damage was minimal and it was just the airbag that knocked the marshall out. Weirder things have happened on the show ;)

I was knocked out by an airbag once. It broke my nose, and burned my forearms. He was probly just knocked out by the force of the airbag....wasn't he leaning forward when the wreck occurred?

he was definately leaning forward at the time....my brother was in an accident though where the airbag deployed and didn't have a scratch on him.....the car was a little bit more damaged though

It was a Ford.

Yes! My husband made me rewind it to point that out.

Oops... Yup, I noticed that. For some reason I seem to catch nits like "car damaged but next scene shows no damage" in movies and TV shows easily ;)

You have to hit something very hard that stops the car quickly for the airbag to deploy, especially hitting a pole. That would have put a big dented in the front of the car. That would most likely making it undrivable.
But it’s only TV. The General Lee took some very serious damage and always looked like it was new.

Why waste their budget on damaging a car when they can save it for some sweet effects later on. :)

Well... the license plate is a little bent and scratched, but you're right, doesn't look like anything that would deploy an airbag.

Actually an airbag can go off even in a low speed fender-bender, which sucks because it costs a bundle to reset it and you could get injured from the bag. It's entirely possible that the car could show little damage, have a deployed airbag, and still be drivable.

Well once when my buddy was in a low speed accident he said "I was ok till the air bag went off and it knocked me out" so it can happen

Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, but I didn't even think he hit anything. I just thought he slammed on his breaks for the deer and the airbag deployed. (which can knock you out)

My question was if nothing was hit, then why did the airbag go off?

It was a Ford.
... that was really "Built Ford Tough," considering the vehicle was moving at a pretty good clip and the pole brought it to a dead stop.

I have been in two airbag experiences and both times the airbag deflated instaly. I am pretty sure that no popping was required. It is just co2 and doesnt expand them beyond any limit, just long enough to inflate them. I was able to drive a 1990 Chrysler LeBaron with the airbag deployed. It doesnt take much, but the damage does appear different from one shot to another...

The shot when you see the car from overhead made the color look very goldish, which made me think of the mysterious car we've seen 3 times. The gold Bonneville, I believe?

I thought the shot from overhead made the car look like the gold Bonneville, as well. In reviewing screen caps, it looks like it was a Ford, though. I gotta tell you though, during the eppy, I was all "It's the gold car that hit Michael, Locke, etc.!" LOL I thought i really had something there. This show makes me nuts! (And I love it!)
