It occurred to my husband and I that the tailies had mentioned the "sickness" when Michael et al. were brought to the arrow hatch, and Danielle had also mentioned the sickness, yet "our" group of lostaways haven't appeared to encounter any such sickness. So we're thinking that perhaps the "incident" mentioned on the filmstrip has something to do with the sickness, which is somehow kept away in the vicinity of the swan hatch by pushing the button. Does this make sense to anyone else?

Danielle told Sayid that her colleagues developed the sickness after 2 months on the island. If the same timing holds for our lostaways, we should see the first signs of the sickness later in the season. It's been what, about 51 days for them?

Any thoughts on how someone gets the sickness? If Desmond thought he was safe from it, then it's probably not airborn. Unless the hatch air comes from... somewhere else. Which is unlikely. Wonder what could carry it.

I don't recall the tailies talking about the sickness. Who said it and what did they say?

When Michael, Sawyer and Jin were taken into the arrow hatch, someone (maybe AL?) asked them if any of their group had gotten sick. That was the only time the tail group ever mentioned it, that I can remember. So it seems to me, if they know about the sickness in any capacity, they should be sharing that info with the other group. They are definitely not telling the whole story of what happened to them. Obviously, since they're 48 days were zipped through way too quickly we don't know everything.

Offhand - without rewatching the episode - I don't recall anyone asking if anyone had gotten sick - the raftees asked Libby what happened to the rest of the tailie survivors - because there were way fewer than the number they'd told the raftees that had survived. I don't recall anyone except Danielle talking about getting sick - and Desmond asking if anyone had gotten sick - died.

Feel free to talk about the sickness as much as you wish, BUT...

It has been discussed in SEVERAL threads regarding the idea that the Tailies mentioned the sickness to Jin, Mike and Sawyer.

It did not happen. A handful of us went back and watch the episodes and/or read transcripts of all the shows involving the tailies and at no point do they ask or mention sickness. At one point they DO ask "How many of you survived?" That is all, though.

Whew! I know my tired brain doesn't recall a lot LOL but I didn't think anyone of the tailies asked about the sickness. Thanks.
