good acting and michaels character is really becoming more and more intersting but i sooooo saw that coming from the moment the "hello" was flashing on the screen. still no confirmation on whether or not it is walt, but the whole "is that you dad? thing practically spelled itself out in my head before it did on the teevee.

I agree it was totally amazing! I read it and my mouth dropped wide open!!! But it totally bugged me ALL night- HOW did walt (if it is walt) do that? Was it with his powers?

Ah, I know. I aw it coming like 5 second before it happened. But still freaky! I hope it is Walt, and not the Others trying to lure Michael out there.

Yup. Great acting on the actors part. I was really annoyed in previous episodes when Michael kept walking around yelling, "Walt!" But I really felt for his character on this screen when he read that one word, "Dad?" :(

That was the same thought I had! I think it might be the others too. Maybe they have a list with his name on it???

Oh that part was freaky! I can't believe we have to wait until January 11th!

I think the real question is "Is this really want on the other side of the convo?" Assuming the island hatches has some sort of local intra-net, I think this just about gaurantees that hes communicating from another as yet unfound hatch. But is this really walt? Could it be a red-herring from his abductors? To bad we don't have enough for any reasoning beyond BLATANT SPECULATION:biggrin:

I have to say this ending totally blew my mind. I was so enthralled with my thinking that Michael just used the terminal to contact the outside world. I was wondering what the fallout of that would be, if there would be another "incident". So I was not even ready to see "Dad?" on the screen.

That should provide enough to speculate on during the hiatus.

I really thought when Michael put "it's Michael" that the computer would shut down and the clock would count down really fast and end at 0000.

I did see it coming for a few seconds...but still, my jaw just hit the floor! What a cliffhanger! The suspense leading up to it, with Michael working on the computer and Locke and Eko watching the film in the next room...this is something that Lost does better than anywhere else.

That would be crazy if it was one of the other children with a father named Michael! I hope we get to see the rest of the convo next episode.

Great point! I hadn't even thought of that. For me it was either the others or Walt. That's something we have to think about.

I say he's in another hatch, maybe where Shannon was shot and everyone was positng screen shots of something that looked like a pipe. That is where Walt was seen, so maybe it was a hatch.

BUT how come you couldn't type on the computer before the "Hello" showed up??? Huh, huh, someone has outside control

Yes, it's so.

I was waiting for the s*** to hit the fan once Michael sent his first message. After seeing the missing piece of the Orientation film, where it was said that if you tried to communicate with the computer, another "incident" would occur, I was worried. But it's possible that they only said that so the button-pushers would not try anything. If this isn't Walt, I'll be so upset. I'm hoping this leads to a back and forth between Michael and Walt throughout the season, with them putting together the pieces of the puzzle until Michael has enough information for him to find Walt.

i just hope mick doesnt start going off into the woods yelling WALT...WALT
i hated that, another thing i was thinking, now that we know they can talk to others through the computer, is it possible there was no incident, that its a hollow threat, a bluff. that dharma doesn't want anyone to feel comfortable leaving because its part of there experiment or whatever, i havent figured it out exactly but my point is what if there never was an incident?

Ahhh yes, but you're assuming that the "incident" is some sort of big-bang immediate thing! Think about it: what if the Others have been on the island all along and the original incident involved one of them luring one of the hatch keepers out into the jungle through the computer? Perhaps the "incident" involves either the Others killing the hatch worker or infecting them with whatever maniacal disease they could possibly be infected with.
I think we need to think a bit more outside-the-box on this whole "incident" and countdown threat. I think that things like blast doors and threats of the "end of the world" are added to make us think of something that goes BOOM when in fact the real threat is something much more subtle, more frightening, more sinister......I mean, what is more scary, the world being blown up instantaneously or people all over the world going mad one by one? I know which one scares me more!!!
All I'm saying is we should not be too assuming of what the threats actually are.

Also, I totally don't believe it was Walt....his captors are not going to let him use a computer!!! Although I like the thought about him using his powers...nice....
