Hi Matt. I was just wondering if you might be willing to share the story of how you became a writers assistant on Lost. I always like to see how others out here have "made it." (And besides, it's always pretty darn inspiring!) Herzlichen Dank! :)

Hello WiretapDancer.
Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you on this, but I just learned how to use the threaded board. Please forgive the delay, I will be better about this in the future.
I received a degree in Creative Writing from University and have been writing for most of my life. That being said, it is still remarkably difficult to make a living as a professional screenwriter. My first job in showbusiness was as an assistant to Oscar winning producer, Brian Grazer at Imagine Entertainment. I spent 3 years with him learning the business and from there decided to set off to try and become a writer. My first job on the writing side was as the Writer's Assistant on "Wasteland" - a short lived show that was on ABC briefly in 1999. I took over that position from a good friend of mine named...Damon Lindelof. I think you can guess how I got the job on LOST now, can't you? I hope that helps answer your question and, if you are an aspiring writer yourself, please don't give up. We need people like us in the world!
Thank you so much for your support of the show and for your question.
All the best,
Raggs
