Hey Damon, you are the MAN! I am a huge forum fan and I love to read everyone's theory about what is going on with the show. The best theory I have read that can explain the most of what is happening on your show so far is that they are all in a coma (theory summarized as short as possible below)....The fan response to this theory has been mostly negative citing that the writers are too talented to rehash old ideas. If it is a coma, I'm hoping that you guys add an extremely radical twist to it to appease everyone who is hoping it's not. Anyways, if it is a coma, I'll still love the show, it's the best show ever put on television in my opinion and you guys are doing a wonderful job over at ABC.

Coma Theory:
Everything is simply explained by the fact that they are all in comas. Doctors and scientists, perhaps in the future, have created a virtual reality memory stimulus program to try to stimulate coma patients into waking up as a trial form of treatment for these types of patients. Our plane crash survivors in LOST are these coma patients and they are in a hospital, perhaps in the near or far future in real life. The plane crash never happened, but is part of the program. The program is designed to give the individuals a purpose for living, and by doing that it will help the patients come out of the coma. This is the goal of the program, to instill faith into the patients and to instill a sense of purpose. The numbers in the hatch primarily exist to give the comatose patients a will to go on fighting (Symbollically) because they are saving the World. The others are either people who are not coming out of the coma and were disconnected, but their psyche is still trapped in the program in the form of shabbily dressed people. Or they are “symbolic” of someone coming out of the coma, and when this happens they symbolically come and take the person out of the program. Dieing in the program parallels with death in real life (not surviving the coma or the treatment). The whispers might be the people who are looking over them, talking about their responses to certain stimuli in the real world.
