(There's some stuff here that has nothing to do with LOST. Sorry, everybody!)
What makes it trickier is we have to write for a SIX ACT structure, as opposed to ME's TEASER PLUS FOUR ACT.
*
Is this the personal preference of the Executive Producers or does the show just need more commercial breaks to offset it's higher budget?

I have a request: Next time you sign a contract -- whether it's for LOST or some other show -- try to get some sort of non-exclusivity clause that allows you to work on another show (or a movie) during your hiatus -- even if the side project is for another network.

I have Buffy - Animated in mind.* Or even better, an animated adaptation of Joss Whedon's Fray: Future Slayer.* (Which might not even have been considered yet.)

As far as screenplays go ...* The best lessons come from reading well-regarded screenplays.* As many as you can get your hands on.

Possible sources for scripts:

http://www.script-o-rama.com

(Loads titles beginning with A-Z by default.* Click a link for N-Z titles.)
http://www.movie-page.com/movie_scripts.htm

Use google.com or another search engine to find more sites.

Compare the scripts to the way they were shot.* See if the director captured the writer's intent.

Comparing the Buffy and Alien: Resurrection screenplays (by Joss Whedon) to the videotapes might be interesting.

i didnt quite understand why a huge cliffhanger was set up..and we return 4 days later as if nothing has happened?

I think this comment by HieroHero refers to the discovery of the hatch by Locke and Boone, not to Claire's abduction.* I'm not sure.* Anyway, I wondered about it too. But the new episode answered the question: they simply hadn't figured out how to open the hatch.

I understand that there was a reason why no one used the polar bear for food, but I have to say that you writers missed a golden opportunity to put Kate into a bearskin outfit.* :)

(The dip with Sawyer in the pond made up for it, though.)
