HI Christian! How are you?
I have a question for you...obviously regarding auditions.
I am preparing to audition on teh piano to get into univeristy music programs...but I suck at auditions. I get extremely nervous, and tend to fall to pieces. I'm assuming you've been through your share of auditions, so I was wndering if you have any tips on staying calm and putting in a good one?
If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Thanks :)

ride the wave of emotion... focus it into the part...

the most important thing about auditioning is remembering that acting is only acting normally in make beleive circumstances, with Piano and Music... I've played with many bands and some I had to Play in front of the group as I was taking over the guitar spot or the bass... I realized that less is more... demostrate your technical skill but emulate the emotion that rushes through you. Be yourself!

Best of Luck!

Christian

Hey Christian, thanks so much. It means a lot that you take the time to answer all of our questions!
I didn't know that you played in bands, that is so cool.
The emotion part is good advice, now for part two, lol. How do you get over the nervousness that may get in teh way? Because I feel severely out of my element in auditioni situations...good thing I'm not going into performance eh? (lol, wow can you tell I'm Canadian or what? lol) Anyways, hope you're having a great night and that your'e warmer than here! (seriously cold)
Thanks!

I played in many a backs playin many a different kins a music...

fave was a Tool cover band cuz the bass, guitar and drums were going through so many time changes and weird rythmic intensity build ups and fade outs... that and the singer sang just like Maynard...

Short of that second favorite and much more original.. a band in Austin that did pornographic funk lounge...

Right now I'm into world beat acoustic mixed with trance and dance kinda loops...

gotta go...

Hey Christian, I'm posting this in advance because don't know if I'll get to post it later...how'd your birthday go? Was it crazy good times? lol. I hope so! That's what Birthdays should be after all...Also how are you doing in general?

I wanted to thank you again for your audition advice, I managed to remain calm but due to a severe head cold and a bizarre lack of coordination I managed to completely blow a recent audition (at least it wasn't for university! lol) Those ones are coming up in six weeks! and I'm actually more excited now than nervous...yay!

Anyways, jsut wanted to say hi and ask how you're doing and what's new and all that jazz, lol. (I just watched Chicago)

Talk to you later!

Hey Christian, how's it going? I hope you're well :)
I knwo this is a bit of an odd request....but could you just say something randomly funny? I know it's bizarre, but I've had a really bad week (my grandpa passed away a couple days ago) and I think I need some randomness, lol. Nobody at my house, nor any of my friends want to be random because they're afraid they'll slip up and make me upset...so if possible...it would be greatly appreciated. (I'm not insane, really and truly, lol)

on the news they had this baby who was born with no eyelids.... they did a skingraph thing on him and it worked pretty well... but they had to use the skin from his circumcision... the surgery went well and he looks fine... of course he is a little cockeyed....

Hey Christian, how are you?

I wanted to thank you again for the audition advice you gave me, but unfortunately, I've had to cancel all of my auditions die to a rather severe case of tendonitis. :'( But nevertheless...the one performance I have done went very well, an I cant' wait until I've healed up enough to audition for next year :) Until then....I'm the gal behind the pile of history books, lol.

Thanks!
