Any chance LOST's John Locke was named after the Sleestak leader?


I found a picture of the actor Jon Locke on the Amazon.com listing for "Land of the Lost" with this caption:

That's very funny. I didn't even know the Sleestaks had a leader. (As a kid, the Sleestaks scared me to death.)

I didn't work on the pilot, so I'm not sure where the name comes from. I would guess that it comes from the 17th century philosopher who believed knowledge is gained through the senses.

But here's the real question: was the actor who played the Sleestak leader really just a doppelganger precursor to our character on Lost? :)
