I it might be possible that desmond met Mr EKO. There is only one piece of evidence to support this stupid theory and it is "The Glasgow Kiss" Mr EKO gave Jin. If anyone else has seen anything to imply this or you just want to compliment Scotland leave your thoughts.

When you are getting "friendly" with an enemy in a hostile way and smash him on the side of the head with a head-butt, what Eko did to Jin.

It is a very Scottish head-butt that once experiencing will want to avoid the person for a very long time, they hurt alot more than a normal head-butt.

Went to Scotland a number of years ago, and it's definitely a place I'd like to go back to. Actually, I got engaged there, on a bridge over a stream in a Highland glen.

Thanx for the explanation of a "Glasgow Kiss." I can only imagine how much that would hurt. I don't know that it would be unique to Scotland, though. That said, wasn't Eko connected to a denomination in the Anglican Convention? That might have given him the occasion to get close to the vicinity of Scotland.

I don't remember Locke getting it from Eko, refresh my memory, I might've missed it. I remember Eko doing that to Jin, when Jin punched him, right before Jin wanted to go after Michael( when they did the talies episode)

That really isn't something to boast about.

Desmond + Scotland = his amazing accent
Desmond + England = Chav

I think they should add some more Scots to the mix !!!!

It was in the eppy "?", lostnewfan. When Eko and Locke were (ostensibly) searching for the escaped "Henry's" trail, Eko told Locke about the dream he had. Locke refused to help him find the ? station. Eko, having been told Locke would resist, but he had to keep trying to help him, responded by giving him the "head treatment"! When Locke came to, it was clear that Eko had won his point--he was GOING to help Eko, like it or not!

But you are right about Eko blocking Jin, too--except that Jin WON that round, going off after Michael, anyway. . .and Eko deciding to help Jin!

Yeah, Locke said, "You hit me, why'd you...?" And Eko said, "You weren't being cooperative."

I love all things Celtic, and I'm so lucky to live in this small town on the gulf of Mexico that has a "sister city" in Scotland called Stirling and has tons of Scottish heritage. Every year we have this huge event called the Highland Games that includes great bagpipe and traditional music, food, Celtic crafts, weapons, and huge, crazy, furry lads doing crazy "games", like throwing axes and big iron balls. And of course beer. Anarchy forever!

I love anything Celtic, too! With my family on my mother's side hailing from Ireland (making me half Irish), I have an afinity toward the Celts. I love their influence on American music. Listen to any Appalacian music and you'll hear it. Lovely! Irish, Scottish, it's all beautiful!!

Hey, Zen! Hope you stop by the Locke forums again soon. :)

Unfortunately, no Irish in me. English/Norwegian.

All I know about Cork is that wine bottles use it for a cap, and that the stuff floats on water! :D

Scotland's done a pretty good job of spreading itself through its diasporia.

But not so well it would seem that any of you know that Highland Scots are Gaels.

I need some Scottish insight. I'm preparing a Flash presentation to use in one of my classes to give the kids, most of whom have never been outside of New England, some idea of how big a real Norman cathedral is. I've got satellite images of a couple of cathedrals, and I'm using Glasgow because I can give a first hand description of it (sang a concert there while on tour once).

What I was wondering was what the cathedral is commonly called in Glasgow. Is it Glasgow Cathedral, or is it St. Mungo's?

-EdM.

Well I'd always think of it as Glasgow Cathedral but considering I ain't a catholic I really can't say for sure...... I'll ask around....

Thanx!

Just a side note, it ain't a Catholic, either. Church of Scotland.

Hi EdM, Thanks for dropping in. I believe it is called Church of Scotland High Kirk of Glasgow or otherwise used St. Mungo's Cathedral like you said.. Do a google and bring up glasgow tourist spots cathedrals, maybe more info there.
