Absolutely loved it. Couldn't help but think of Watership Down, especially when they made "Chaci" apologize for trying to escape. I definitely love how it made me hate the Others even more and for once I was actually rooting for Jack. And I loved the Stephen King plant. The reveal of Fhenry being "Ben" wasn't much, because you'd have to have been stupid to not get that in the Teaser, but then again...
I liked seeing Goodwin and Ethan again. I like how it's becoming clear who Kate is choosing. I wonder what the 2 weeks for Kate will be like and what the purpose of the Others has become apart from Dharma. All in all, a great show, definitely want to see next weeks episode.

I really loved this epi too! I loved the way that Sawyer looked at Kate when he saw her and then that innocent soft-guy look when she had the fish.

This was a really great premier. I found Matthew Fox's performance to be really powerful and moving. It puts what happened in ATBCHDI in a whole new light, and explains why Jack was willing to cover up for Christian in the first place. He blamed himself that his father was drinking again. :thud: I don't think I've ever liked Jack as much as I do tonight.

I wish that I could have taped it so that I could watch it again...right away. I have one question...I'm a little confused time-wise...so...Christian was going to AA...he sobered up...then...he started drinking again because Jack thought that he and Sarah were having an affair...and they weren't...okay...my question is did Christian keep working after what was shown in this episode or did he go to Australia after what we saw with Sarah, her new boyfriend and Jack in the street or...did the operating drunk on the pregnant lady happen after this stuff? Thanks!!!

And again...I loved the episode...I thought that Elizabeth Mitchell was very sympathetic and Benry was...a nutjob...I sense a rebellion within Otherville...

Petula Clark is the artist who recorded "Downtown", not the Mamas and the Papas. It does sound like them though.

I loved it. Surprising opening, even with all that I already knew. I wasn't completely spoiled and I was glad. Loved the little hints and surprises. I was FREAKED out by Ben. I could feel Kate's fear. Sawyer was little more than comic relief, I hope the Sawyer fans aren't too upset by that. Foxy's performance was outstanding and I really liked Juliet. A lot of tension there between her and Ben. I thought the reveal of the file on Jack at the end was really cool too. Raised a lot of questions for me. Awesome start to the season. Way to go!

WTF are they doing underwater?

They are in another station that is underwater called the hydra

They have their own little town?!?

Yep, I would guess invisible from sight.

How in the hell do they have that file on Jack? Where did they get it?

Either from drugging him, or probably thay have outside contacts.

Was that really Dog food Sawyer got?

Polar bear food.

Who was that other guy in the cell?!

One of the others. My guess he was 'in jail' for being naughty.

God!! It was awesome though!

Great episode overall. The Lost writers have mastered the art of the first five minutes. Now if they can only sustain that over the rest of the show. The first five minutes were among the best five minutes of all the episodes, but the rest of the show seemed to be just a set up for next week. Listen, you guys are smart and can do better than that. But over all, great episode. Oh yeah, just where the heck was Locke, Eko, and Desmond? Come on, you could have at least given us something along those lines....

I've voiced much of my elation for this episode in the "Rate this episode" thread, but I will repeat that I LOVED IT. MF's performance in this episode is definitely emmy worthy, I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the characters this season! Lost is off to a great start for season 3, I'll say once again that the first 5 minutes were once again incredible.

Benry is still as creepy as ever, and I love it.

As for the rest of the Losties, I enjoyed the isolated feel of this episode. Save Desmond, Locke, etc. for the next episode. If it were a 2 hour premiere, it would have been cool to fit them in, but I think that the way they did it allows Kate, Sawyer, and Jack's situation to feel that much more desperate.

Well, of course this is just opinion, but I think the flashbacks from this episode must have happened prior to the ones from ATBCHDI. That's what sent Christian packing for Australia, losing his license and all. Since he died in Australia, that pretty much cinches it for me.;)

Yeah, I was a little more spoiled than I wanted to be for this episode, but there were still plenty of surprises. The summaries I read really didn't capture the nuances, or how powerful the performances were. :)

didn't like the song downtown though... thought it was out of place

I thought it brought the same feel to the scene as the Desmond scene at the beggining of Season 2. I loved it. Of course I also love that song so...

This was a really great premier. I found Matthew Fox's performance to be really powerful and moving. I thought of that as well. It must have eaten Jack up that he was responsible for his Father's relapse.

If it were a 2 hour premiere, it would have been cool to fit them in, but I think that the way they did it allows Kate, Sawyer, and Jack's situation to feel that much more desperate.

I agree. Again, this episode reminds me of MSMF, mystery opening, no idea whats going on with everyone else, just focusing on one group. And if they didn't focus on this group in the first episode I would have been upset. Honestly? At this point? Who cares what's going on with everyone else. We finally get to see the others, how they live, what they're doing, yes they do have an underwater station like we suspected, wow they have bear cages, they have sharks and whales, etc. I was just so drawn into that part of the story that I didn't care about everyone on the other side of the island.

I loved this story. I was 100% spoiler free and it was so worth it to be shocked. I kind of expected another WTF? opening this year and I wasn't dissapointed at all. I'm so interested in Juliet. Why was she crying, what's her story, I want to know more! The whole Others camp completly facinates me. Why did the others put Carl in the cage, what did he do? And what happened to Carl after he was teken away? Was he a plant? Was it just another experiment? Anyway, loved the episode. I thought it was a great opening to the season and I can't think of one thing that would have made it better.

i dont think im gonna be able to heap enough praise on this episode. better than any from season 2.

every scene was so tight, well written, acting superb, flashbacks well integrated and purposefull, and not too long either.

i love the others. the opening was absolutely fantastic.

i was so worried about being dispointed in the new season but im very happy with this episode. i know its going to be near impossible to keep this standard up all season, but thats to be expected.

I was just cruising through the 'hated it' thread and and the bitterness fiesta at another site and couldn't even begin to fathom the animosity some have toward this episode.

Especially from anyone who made it through season 2. This episode was so, so tight and is taking things in a fascinating new direction. I suspect that a lot of the animosity might be coming from people who dislike the direction rather than the episode...

but I've got to say that Ausiello was right in his column--this is one of the best episodes of Lost in the run of the series. It did a nice job of being subtle and demanded alot from the viewer while also being creepy and keeping me engaged--even after I read the premiere synopsis. None of the episodes last year that I read synoposes for kept me as intrigued as this one.

Sure, I was a bit bummed that we didn't see the people on the beach or at the hatch. and sure I wanted some Sayid/Jin/Sun on the boat, and I was crossing my fingers for a long shot that Michael and Walt would still be around...

but in the end, I'm happy they focused the episode how they did. afterall, I'd rather have a tight, wonderfully concieved episode than half a good episode with some crappy, tossed off, tree frog subplot just to get some characters their face time.

superbly done TPTB!

B!

im not at all. if we went to the beach there would be too many things to focuss on and the epsidoe wouldve been a directionless mess. they made a wise descision to focus on what they did. id be happy if they kept the focus there for a few episodes before heading back to the beach, ie, a flashback epi each for Kate and Sawyer too.

I loved it. It was totally different from what we are used to. The Jack flashbacks were interesting and I personally liked them.

Ben freaks me out big time. He's just so eerily calm all the time. Well, except when Jack opened the water lever, that guy was out! He even left Juliet behind, so cold.

The opening was fabulous, showing how normal these people seemed to be.

Great show.

I'm having a hard time understanding the animosity also. i can't even find people explaining what they didn't like, just a kind of general "BaD!" ....I'm stumped.

It's so much more fun to try and analyze it than to diss it. Some things I noticed:

The Others seem to know everything about Jack, but very little about Kate or Sawyer. I think Kate got put in Sawyer's area because they are deducing who she cares more about (correctly or not). I think Sawyer was offered escape just to test whether he'd take the opportunity. They are doing research on them, but they have Jack all nailed down.

They seem to have broken Kate and Jack pretty quickly. They both looked utterly defeated by the end of the episode. It seemed pretty easy. Kate was very docile and cooperated immediately, which was more than a little surprising, and unsettling as far as her future goes in this situation. Sawyer, on the other hand, was given a challenging puzzle and took matters into his own hands. At the end of the episode, he really looked like the only one with any fight left in him. Someone said he was comic relief, but I didn't see it that way at all.

My sense is the only one they want is Jack. Sawyer and Kate are just there as possible tools to get to Jack.

I'm not a Jack fan, but I did think Fox did a great job last night. I was almost sorry for him at the end, which is saying a lot. He was totally humbled. Somehow that makes him a thousand times more appealing than two seasons worth of Invincibility did.

I loved every minute of it. Think we found out a number of things about the Others tonight and still really have very little clue. MF’s performance was spot on and the new character Juliet is a joy to watch. Sawyer was hilarious trying to get the food puzzle to work and Tom’s line about the bears only needing two hours was priceless. My only question is was the name of Ben supposed to mean anything because I was totally lost on why his name had to be so secrete while kept captive in the Swan station and I’ve been racking my brain to another Ben reference.

loved it as well... a wicked awsome premire didn't like the song downtown though... thought it was out of place but im just picky :-)

I think the whole point of picking a song from that time period was to show that the Others live with out dated supplies too, just like Desmond did on the Swan station.

First thing I want to say is that Elizabeth Mitchell was superb. Fantastic casting there. Matthew Fox's performance was brilliant. As was Jack Bender's direction. They seemed to have returned to the more cinematic look of season one and I'm really glad.

I loved Ethan's cameo in the beginning. I love that guy, I wish they hadn't killed him off.

And like someone said earlier in this thread, these flashbacks through most of Jack's previous episodes into a whole new light. It was excellently done. I'm much more optimistic about this season than I was the last.

Bravo!

That beginning completely caught me off guard! It had been awhile and I assumed that was Penny at the beginning. Her playing what sounded like Mama Cass only reinforced the idea to me. Honestly I was starting to get a little bored with this apparently pointless Penny flashback. Then after the shaking I spotted Ethan crawling out from his work and was like...whaaaat?! Then FENRY! Not til I saw the plane did I realize what I was seeing. Then I couldn't believe it!!

WOW, WHAT A BEGINNING!!!

I like the new character of Juliet a lot. She seems very genuine and pleasant. But who can tell with these people? She did seem kind of different at the very end when she walked past Ben (that's going to be hard to get used to! Benry?)

Pure brilliance, but what else is new, with LOST?!

There's something to be said about a show that can *WOW* even the completely-spoiled fans. I probably sound like a broken record by now, but the writing, the acting, the photography, the production, the music...*ALL* of it, nothing less than genius.

I watched it, re watched it on DVR, went to bed, got up at 3:00am and had to watch it again! This episode was for the die hard LOST fan. So many nuances. Unspoken grief. Unexplored desire. Unfinished business. The book club discussion - *wink*wink* - God, I LOVED it!

When I first learned Elizabeth Mitchell was being added to the cast I was not happy. I wasn't sure I could ever find her likable or in the least bit sympathetic after her role in ER
BOY WAS I WRONG!
She demonstrated a range in her character that kept me glued to her every move. All that tension between her and BEN. The gentle manipulation of Jack's emotions. The subtlety of her broken, non-conformist spirit. Relatable. Curious. Finally, an enigmatic woman - This is the role to watch this season.

And MATT FOX! Who knew? His facial expressions alone blew me away. Confused. Afraid. Insecure. Abandoned. I loved the use of flashbacks and Juliet's observations to help us finally get inside his soul. And his willingness to finally surrender control - at least for a minute - must have been a relief for him. Jack turned a corner.

I actually appreciated the focus of the first episode. Forty two minutes is not a lot of time to tell a story - but this was tight! No jumping back and forth to the beach. People asked and ANSWERED questions!!! Maybe they will actually share information this season. The episode worked, for me. It gave me a reason to care about the fate of J/K/S. It intensified the creepiness of Ben and it opened new avenues for exploration.

I'm a television junkie and have watched every premiere on almost every network this season. Some are very good. Some not so much. But LOST was so far and beyond anything else, there's NoTHinG to compare it to!!! Those advertisers know it too! Keep those commercials coming! LOST (imho) is the super bowl of series television

The Others seem to know everything about Jack, but very little about Kate or Sawyer. .

If they are doing research in the "real world", Jack has probably left a bigger paper trail than the other two, who use fake names and move constantly. Only their criminal records would be helpful. No stack of friends or colleagues to interview. Kate's mom, Wayne and Tom are dead, as are Sawyer's parents.

I loved this episode, even thought totally spoiled. That says a lot.

It was great just to have a new Lost episode, and I loved it even though I was completely "spoiled." Agree with those who praised Elizabeth Mitchell--I loved her scenes.

The teaser was great, and viewing it made me wish that I hadn't indulged in the spoilers, as it was a great WTF\OMG moment.

I thought Jack's flashbacks worked well to highlight Jack's eventual change during Juliet's conversation with him. We didn't get to see much of Kate, and were left to ponder why her wrists were cut. Was there some struggle that was simply edited out of the episode, were we supposed to just see the wrists and understand that Kate wasn't fully cooperative, or will we learn more about the wrists and what happened between her and Ben later in the year? Watching Lost make you ask these kind of questions, you know?

The exchange between Sawyer and Zeke about the bears was pretty funny.

While watching the Losties struggle with their captivity was interesting, the real tension of the episode was between Juliet and Ben. I wondered about the significance of Juliet's statement of "free will" and how this will be explored this season. It left no doubt that she has distanced herself from Ben and his way of thinking. Again, loved the Juliet character.

As always, the episode answered some questions but raised even more. We saw 815 going down through the eyes of the others, so there can't be any more serious theories that suggest 815 never crashed. We were given a better idea of what the island looked like, and where the others are located in relation to the crash sites. Obviously, we learned more about the others, including the heavy suggestion that there is some mild dissonance amongst the others. We are left wondering why and how the others had a file on Jack (unless it was a bluff).

It was nice to see Lost open with a great episode, and I hope to see Lost continue with such episodes throughout the season. Welcome back, guys and gals.

After viewing the episode a second time this morning, I have to say I have no complaints, no nit-picks, nothing at all to say on the negative side. As far as I’m concerned, this episode was excellent on every level. I was very impressed with Matthew Fox's performance; if he is ever going to win an Emmy for Lost, this may well be the episode that does it for him. ALL the performances in the episode were remarkably strong, in fact, and that is no small part of the reason I liked it so much. [

While I had been somewhat dreading another Jack flash-back covering ground we had already tread, the new aspects to Jack’s story more than dispelled my concerns. .Whether it was in spite of, or because of, Jack’s complete loss of all perspective and rationality over his impending divorce, I found myself very sympathetic toward Jack throughout this episode. While it was absurd to think that if he could just find out who the man was, he would somehow be able to deal with the divorce, it's the kind of "magical thinking" to which children of alcoholic parents are sometimes prone. If they could just "know", or "understand", or "fix" that one key thing, the problem would be solved and their pain eased. I was glad that in the on-island conclusion to all this, he was finally able to let that go, finally able to accept the end of his relationship with Sarah.

I was also completely blown away by Elizabeth Mitchell. It seems to me that they got everything right with this casting. First of all, she can act! She has already injected a lot of nuance into a character we've barely met. Her scenes with MF were fascinating and I’m really looking forward to seeing more of them. Juliet seems to really “get” Jack on some level, and it’s clear that she’s his peer - intellectually, socially and professionally. (Repo woman. Hee!) She comes across as a strong, insightful, intelligent and complex woman, and the first one to have a chemistry with Jack that I’m excited to see explored further. If she is a disaffected member of Benry’s group, perhaps Jack can win her over rather than the other way around. And just for added appeal, she managed to knock out both Sawyer and Jack in one episode, without looking remotely like a thug doing it! She’s a definite keeper in my books.

On the subject of Kate, the lapse of time between breakfast and when she was caged is troubling. Where was she? Jack refused his sandwich and was brought a second meal later on, then there was the escape attempt, and some significant time later (both Jack and Juliet were dry again) there was the final interview. Sawyer, OTOH, explored his cage, escaped and was captured, explored his cage some more and finally managed to get his fish biscuit reward. (Loved his reaction to that!) Zeke tells him it only took the bears two hours, giving us the impression it took Sawyer markedly longer. So where was Kate during all that time? She appeared shaken, her wrists were bloodied as though she had struggled in those handcuffs, yet we have only the horrors our imaginations can conjure as to what her day's experiences were.

The reunion scene between Sawyer and Kate was touching. Sawyer is clearly a man smitten, but the state of Kate's affections is less clear. If Ben is to be believed, she may be hinting at an unconscious preference in asking about her companions in a certain order, the same order she used asking when the same question of Tom. Sawyer’s been tugging at her heart strings since Season 1, and I look forward to seeing how this develops from here. These actors always play well off each other, and I thought this was one of their best scenes yet. Kate brings out a surprising tenderness in Sawyer, and she could certainly use a strong partner after being solitary for so long. I’m a big fan of redemption stories, and I think it would be very satisfying to see these two pair up for their journey in that direction.

For me, this episode really delivered. I'm curious as hell to know who the Others are, what their agenda is, and what they want with our people. I say "our people" because my loyalty clearly lies with our original survivors, though I suspect they might try to test that this season. More immediately, how will this internment change Sawyer, Kate and Jack? "It doesn't matter who you were, in only matters who you are now." We know who they were when the got there, but who will they be when their two weeks are over?

Curiously, of all the questions this episode left me with, if Juliet offered me the answer to any one question, I'd want to know, "What happened to Kate."

Well...I liked the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes, but the middle I'm not so sure about. Yes it was cute watching Sawyer in the cage and all, but what did we learn really learn from that?

The preview for the next episode looks good EXCEPT of course the Others seem to know about the boat. Will our heroes ever get the drop on these guys? Even once? Sheesh...

I loved that beginning scene and the rest of it was done really well. The acting by the actors playing the Others was great and the normal cast was great as well. Jack plays the obsessive stubborn too well. He was made for that part.

Fantastic episode. Awesome opening sequence that actually fooled a few people I was watching with. They already convinced me to like the Others with that sequence too. I mean, how can I hate on a civilization of people who have book clubs? On Jack's flashbacks, some people say that they're are getting repetitive, but I'm always thrilled to see more of Christian. Great character and actor, and I always enjoy watching him interact with Jack no matter how familiar the territory is. None of these characters flashbacks will ever be as fresh as they were in season 1, but I think they succeeded here in presenting a new dimension of Jack's relationship with his dad.

The real revelation of the episode was Juliet, who turned out to be better than I ever could have hoped. In those first few seconds of looking in the mirror she exuded more warmth and personality than a lot of the other characters have in two seasons. All her scenes with Jack were brilliant, but the most overlooked moment is in that smile she gave Sawyer right before zapping him. So good.

I agree with whoever said Sawyer was more or less comic relief, but you need some light moments to break up the more heavy stuff going on with Jack and Kate. I don't think we're supposed to be impressed that Sawyer is the only one who hasn't been broken because noone has bothered trying with him yet. I think we'll be seeing what he's made of in future episodes.

I did have a complaint in the Sawyer/Cracker/Kate triangle because I was under the assumption that she just had a nice breakfast w/ Benry, but it was pointed out to me today that we never actually saw her eat it. For a while we had fun theorizing that she was emotionally distraught because she'd been sent to con Sawyer out of his hard earned fish crackers.

The third season and despite all the stuff we do know - I'm left at the end of the season opener with some new answers but with more questions than ever before. The creative staff for this show is magnificent. The only thing that I disliked: the show was only an hour long. I would have loved a two-hour season premiere. I would have loved a three hour season premiere. This was by far better than the season 2 opener and I wasn't one of the one's who thought the season 2 opener was disappointing. I'm so fired up I can hardly wait for next Wednesday

the first episode of the second season started with Desmond starting a record and playing "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" by the Mamas and the Papas, this episode started with "Downtown" by the same band. out of place as it may seem, that's why it was in there.

"Downtown" was recorded by Petula Clark - same generation - different artist.

Just something funny to mention....my wife recognized "utopiaville" as a group of cabins that she stayed at by Dillingham Airfield when she was in elementary school on a school outing...pretty funny when they panned back and the look on her face was hilarious!

Woah. That's about what sums up this episode for me.

The first five minutes? I almost died. My mouth was opened for that whole commercial while I just stared at the screen. I did not see that coming. :w00t: I really felt bad for Jack in his flashbacks. :( All of his scenes were great and Foxy is such a brilliant actor. I really liked the Saywer and Kate scene, as well. Okay, let's just say I loved the whole thing. I'm so glad LOST is back.

Actually, that was Petula Clarke singing "Downtown", not The Mamas and The Papas ... same era though..
i thought this episode was great ... when "not-henry" walked out of that house i was just thinking how intriguing it was that we were going to start off with his backstory (of all people) ...but oohhhhboy! ... when i saw that plane break apart in the sky i had that same feeling you get when you are finally at the top of the first hill on the roller coaster and you know from here on out it's gonna be arms up in the air screaming loud kind of fun!
kudos to the writers for a brilliant premier! for me it was definitely worth the wait :)

I loved the beggining, at first when she was in the house i thought she was an other, then the book club arived and we saw the exterior and i was like, o nevermind must be currently off the island or a flashback of one of the losties. Then when the earthquake happend i thought. Oh, this is taking place when desmond turned the key. And then when they went outside and u saw the glimps of ethan, and then henry gale came out of the other house i thought that was amazing. genius. then the plane crashed and he sent goodwin and ethan to... o it was just SOOO good.

I'll be honest; I was feeling a lot less anticipation coming into this season. Part of it is the fact that the season is starting so late. The later a show starts in the fall, the harder it is to remain enthusiastic, with attention being drawn to the new material elsewhere. Of course, not every show is "Lost", and this season started off on the right foot. It was easy enough to pick up the story again, and this episode left me wishing for more!

Here's my review for Lost 3.1: "A Tale of Two Cities":

http://www.entil2001.com/series/lost/season3/lost3-1.html

Overall, this episode is a capable season premiere, introducing one set of plot threads for the third season while reinforcing the primary thematic aspects of the series’ mythology. Some might find the relatively narrow focus and the emphasis on psychological manipulation to be less than inspiring, but trying to cover all the open questions from the second season finale would have resulted in something far too scattershot. Hopefully, the rest of the season will demonstrate why this was a strong beginning.

I agree about the narrow focus maybe turning some people off. But I wasn't a Lost fan at the time of last season's premiere, and I'm willing to bet that the focus on ONLY the hatch in that premiere led to some outcries of "what's happening on the raft!?"

I've said earlier that it's amazing what can be done in one season, despite people's complaints about the show moving too slowly or the premiere not giving enough new information. As a comparison, think about how much we knew about the hatch before the second season premiere (i.e., nothing except that it was there in the ground), compared to how much we knew about it by the end of the season. I strongly believe that it will be the same with the Others in season 3, the ratio of information we will know by the end of the season compared to what we know now.

I really liked this episode. They came out with several little secrets. They kinda set up the relationship between Kate and Sawyer and Jack and Juliette. Ben(Fenry) really seems to be the leader of the group and there seems to be obvious friction between him and Juliette.

The opening reveal was similar in some ways to last season but in a cool way. I think they are planning some sort of experiements for the trio but I think they will be interupted by Sayid and his crew. This may give them their opportunity for escape. I think Ben is much more clever than has been previously revealed. The whole Kate in a dress in a cage across from Sawyer is very manipulative. I think the whole escape thing early on was staged too.
At this pace it's gonna be a very cool season.

The best opening 5 minutes since the Pilot in my view.

The rest of the episode was just OK.

It went kinda slow - though I have a feeling that's the feeling it's trying to project. It was a really cool episode still.

Anybody could see Jack wasnt gonna just "sit down" the first time. He's back in my good books after being a bit annoying last time.

Loved the bit where he heard his Dad's voice.

Not sure I like "Ben"....or Juliet...she looks like one of those "strong" people like Ethan...Can't wait to see Sayid, and the rest of the group hopefully next week...my first thought was "jurrasick park" and maybe there IS a dino there...Have to see Planet of Apes again..... also that the village is so close to the crash sites for them to get there so fast...?? But surely met all my expectations for a really good show!

I enjoyed the episode very much. I wonder what Juliet was crying about in front of the mirror. She seems a bit stressed out.

Another thing that seemed interesting were the cds. The technology on the island we see keeps getting more advanced. First it was old computers from the 60's-70's with video reels. Then an VHS tape from 1980. And now cds, which didn't come out until 85', 86'. Will we see cell phones and home computers next?

Thanks for the link, entil. I really enjoyed your review and share many of your opinions. One thing I realized after rewatching this a couple of times is that there are too many characters on this show. I love the ensemble cast, but the reduced scope of the episode served the story really well. The new Others are good and necessary to the story, but that's where they should draw the line and go with what they have instead of constantly killing off main players and introducing others, imo.

I loved it - Matthew Fox and Michael Emerson are brilliant actors. It's quite clear the writers can go many directions from here, actually, with the opening of 'A Tale Of Two Cities' they lit things from a slightly different perspective - that of The Other's seemingly neat-looking little town.

I sincerely hope the writers will keep up with the high standards of the premiere of season 3...

I loved it. The beginning shocked me because I wasn't spoiled and thought it was a flashback off the island so I was quite surprised when it showed the plane. I thought all
the actors were right on in this one and the writing as always shined. I have to admit I hate it when the characters I've grown attached to are killed off and newbies show up but I'm really intrigued by Juliet. Besides Libby she's the only one I've really been interested in besides the main cast.

After watchng it again (and again) I gotta say this was a great episode.Especially the first scene, I've showed it to friends who don't follow the serries (but have a general knowledge of it) and they were like 'Dude...'

The on-island story was good, we learned about the Others and it was good to see each one of our Losties, although they were seperated. Episodes are much more enjoyable watching them once they've aired. I think we get frustrated knowing that this is all we had for a week, but re-watching, it's an awesome episode.
