I think that after all the complaining about not enough answers and going too slow, the writers gave us a message through the show. When jack wanted to know right away what ben wanted and he said(cant remember exact words),"when the time comes, be patient". i just thought they were trying to tell us to be patient and just wait, when the times right things will be revealed.
just my 2 cents

I know, I know, Nuno... And although patience is a virtue, it's not one of mine!! *sigh* But it was an excellent episode, yes? Lots of ACTION!!

I totally agree. I thought they answered a bunch of the questions that have been flying around here lately just in that last five minutes with Jack and Ben.
They specifically said what date it was and how many days they have been there and reiterated the date of the crash. He flat out said they are in contact with the outside world and he proved it. He said he has lived there all his life. (I loved the whole Red Sox exchange! That was great!)

They really laid it out and I totally got the feeling they were sending us a message. Personally, I love the show and how it is done and almost never have a complaint about it. It drives me nuts when people get so irritated that every mystery and every question isn't wrapped up neatly in a bow for them. What would be the point of the show, for cripes sake??!! Everyone has this lust for instant gratification, but I personally LOVE the suspense and anticipation and I think that it makes the show great.

To me the show is about the characters, the relationships, the whole six degrees of separation thing and the interconnectedness that we all have, the randomness and coincidences of life. It's about redemption and healing. It's about how our choices have a ripple effect on those around us. It's about good and bad and all the gray area in between. It's about perception and how things aren't always what they seem.
It's a lot, ok, but to me, those are the overriding themes of the show and I think it delivers all the way. To me, each episode is like a satisfying meal that leaves my mouth watering for the next one. :essen:

yeah...I get the patience thing. But, C'mon!! Everytime a Lostie asks a question...they get answered with another question.

"Who are you?"...Kate asks...

"Where'd you get that dress?"

Um...thanks a lot Alex!! And....She knew the answer to that question already!!

There they are, Jack & Ben at the end...Ben says he's ready to be honest...and Jack asks him what's going on...and we get...be patient? And you just know that next eppy...they won't even pick up at that point...heck...judging by the promo...

I bet we never even see Jack, Kate & Sawyer in the next eppy.

I know it's still early...but answers need to be given soon. It's getting pretty frustrating. I just hope the payoff on some of these answers is worth my patience!!

I agree with you 100%, emma, and I couldn't have said it better!

That was definitely a comment for us. It reminded me of Rose in Abandoned when she told Hurley "We don't want to spoil ourselves now do we?" after all the talk about Shannon's death being spoiled in advance. Also like when Locke said "We're gonna need to watch that again" when he saw the Orientation film.

As for being unhappy that we won't see J/K/S in the next episode, they've been featured for the first two and we haven't even seen half the regulars yet. Haven't they had their turn?

I'm actually starting to enjoy the unfolding of the plot, and the relative lack of answers. At the start of season 2 I was annoyed with the slow progress, but now I've developed more of an appreciation for the depth of the plot...

just my 2p..

I've been preaching patience for two years now. Why would anyone want instant gratification and have all the mystery spoiled is beyond me.

However, there were answers provided last night. Ben said they had contact with the outside world. He even provided a date for the episode. We're getting bits and pieces and I think the pace is just fine.

My take is something totally different. Rather than a message from the wroters, I believe the others will be waiting for something to develop with Kate and Sawyer, and then will use Jack to complete something. I thought the point of the "patience" comments was they are still waiting for something to happen before Jack is needed.

I do not believe they will use Jack to perform an operation on Colleen. The others would have had no way of knowing Colleen was going to get shot and may need surgery.

This may not be the reason why they want Jack in the first place, but Colleen's team will return with her and when they do, they will be in need of a doctor. I think Ben will go to Jack and ask for his help.
