View Full Version : Screencap - Others can see into [possible spoilers from preview]!?
eunlim1ted 10-12-2006, 05:18 AM I looked into some screencaps of henrys video monitors at the end of the episode and noticed that the one in the top right hand corner looked like it was a picture of
The same cave locke visits in the previews for the next episode. If the cave is really the monster cave as the previews suggest, does that mean that the others are in league with smokey? Even better, what if the camera is through the monster's point of view and this means that the other is a mechanical thing controlled by the others.I doubt this means that the cave is the remains of the hatch since if the blast was strong enough to turn the hatch into a cave full of rubble the camera would have likely been fried as well.

Noeland 10-12-2006, 05:22 AM That's a reused shot from the jungle Jin and sayid are watching. Go back and watch the scene where they are waiting, and Sayid says "I don't think they're coming" and you get that shot right there. Twice.

I still dont think that it is simply a re-used picture. If you notice, that screen changes twice.

I doubt it is merely a re-used picture if there was a perfectly good origional picture that could have been used instead.

eunlim1ted 10-12-2006, 12:47 PM I agree, nice catch.. So i guess the question is were these scenes placed onto the monitors for a reason or is ths an example of how cheap the lost effects guys are. Personally, i think the former makes more sesne than the later.
Here are some reasons:
1)Both screens had alternate shots they could have used
2)I think the screens are far to obvious of a part to examine closer for the producers to make a cheap cut like this.
3)Granted there are times when we have looked at things closely only to find an unintentional mistake/continuity error, but many of these have been when someone has zoomed to read papers on someones desk, or some extreme case of analysis like that.By now the devs know we are gonig to screen cap stuff. It just seems something that obviously placed would expect closoer analysis.
Again, perhaps its oversight, but then again, who knows. I guess we will just have to wait and see if it gets brought up in later epps.

Great catch on that second pic. So if these shots are intentional, the question is WHY are these random areas of jungle being monitored? Places that we have seen on the show. My mind is going crazy with theories. The Walt jungle shot leads me to think that Walt's appearance to Shannon was intentional by the Others... like they were testing to see if Walt could project himself. It had to be coincidence then, for Shannon to randomly stumble onto walt at this spot.
That is, of course, assuming that this shot is from a camera, and not smokey or some other thing being used as a monitoring device.
Crazy, just when I was thinking that there wasn't anything to look closer at during this episode.

I am so glad that someone has this much time on their hands to search this out...nice work!
Clearly those video cameras are a big part of the Others' ability to stay on top of everything. Which means that if one of the losties can get to that board (if it's the only one) with some kind of a club, he/she can blind the Others.
And they may not look like such badasses on a level playing field.

It was actually the first thing I thought of when I was trying to come up with other foliage shots. Probably because I watched the easter egg on the S2 DVD where they show them dumping the water on Walt for the shot.
